There are some behind-the-scenes details regarding the status system, but if you aren’t interested, feel free to skip them.

Chris-san’s level hasn’t increased at all since she met Fiene-chan.

Incidentally, the fact that some of Fiene-chan’s stats at level 15 are catching up to Chris-san at level 30 just shows how high the potential of the Vampire race is.

For a human, Chris-san’s level 30 is quite high, and her stats are very impressive for a human.

However, it seems that crossing the racial wall is quite difficult.

Lumia gained a lot of EXP during the “Undying Beast” quest.

It seems she has poured all her acquired SP into Archery.

Furthermore, of the Fisher skills—Ship Handling, Fishing, Aquatic Product Appraisal, Swimming, and Seasickness Resistance—Lumia only manifested Aquatic Product Appraisal and Seasickness Resistance due to a lack of study.

A Fisher (LOL), indeed. The reason she got Seasickness Resistance was likely due to the harrowing experience of traveling back and forth to the Far North.

As for Aquatic Product Appraisal, well, she’s Lumia.

I will introduce Shizuku-san on another occasion.

○   Behind-the-Scenes on Status

These haven’t appeared in the main story, and since I’m not sure if there will be an opportunity to explain them in-text, I’ll give a rough explanation here. Not knowing this won’t affect your understanding of the story.

The elements that make up a status are basically composed of the following five factors:

・Level

・Individual Aptitude (Based on a racial average, with a certain range of variation)

・Growth Bonus by Class (e.g., Warrior-types find it easier to increase STR)

・Growth Type (Determines how easily stats increase upon leveling up)

・Others (Increases or decreases by fixed values or percentages. As of the end of Volume 3, none of the four characters fall into this category)

There is a set formula to calculate each status value from these elements, so for the main characters, the stats are automatically determined once the level is set.

Furthermore, I’ve created an EXP table for leveling up, so I cannot intervene here.

I believe that if I were to arbitrarily change their strength in every scene, my own abilities would fail to keep the logic consistent and the story would collapse; therefore, the story progresses under these constraints. However, there are many times when I find this to be a pain.

○   About Vampires

Vampires are, as the name implies, a race that lives by sucking the blood of others. According to Chris-san, they are the enemy of all humanity, including demi-humans (see Volume 1, Chapter 4).

Characteristics include:

・Weak to holy attribute attacks.

・Turn to ash when exposed to sunlight.

・Have vertically elongated pupils (like snakes or cats).

・Become stronger at night, and are therefore naturally nocturnal.

・Can turn into bats and blend into the dark night.

・Unleash terrifying attacks manipulating shadows and blood.

・Increase their thralls by sucking blood.

・Use Charm to turn people into thralls.

・Can lose their physical form by becoming mist.

Additionally, newborn Vampires have pupils no different from those of humans.

However, once they awaken by sucking blood and creating thralls, their eyes change into the vertical slits of a cat or snake.

It is said that Vampires cannot survive without feeding on blood, and because they inevitably give in to that urge and sink their fangs into a human’s neck to create a thrall, virtually all Vampires end up with vertical pupils (see Chapter 32).

Apparently, a Vampire can obtain some kind of strong power by sipping the blood of another Vampire…? (see Chapter 41).

○   Lesser Vampires

The race that those who are sucked and turned into thralls by a Lesser Vampire become.

It is said that upon becoming a Lesser Vampire, one gains power far beyond what they had as a human, but they possess none of the Vampire’s Unique Skills.

In exchange, they can act under the sun, and are thus used as pawns to help Vampires blend into and live within human society.

Also, like Vampires, they are incredibly weak to Holy Magic; the Lesser Vampires of Tukat were completely wiped out just by a thin, wide-reaching purification of the entire town.

The orders of the parent Vampire who turned them into thralls are absolute, and while their values and personality from when they were human seem to be completely destroyed, their memories appear to remain.

Additionally, a Lesser Vampire vanishes upon the death of their parent, but those who have gained strength over time may survive even after their parent dies.

Though not mentioned in the main story, these Lesser Vampires also serve as food for Vampires, used as a substitute for sipping the fresh blood of humans.

○   Riche, the Flower Spirit

The name is derived from the Italian word for happiness, “felice.”

Flower Spirits are special spirits capable of purifying miasma and were considered legendary beings, but Fiene contracted with one quite easily.

Fiene seems to adore Riche, and there is a theory that she is already showing signs of becoming a “pet-idiot.”

Riche’s abilities grow by purifying impurities such as miasma and poison, and she can produce seeds for plants that bloom flowers.

If purification is needed urgently, Riche can receive Mana from Fiene to make flower petals rain down.

By planting seeds where the petals have piled up and pouring Mana into those seeds to make them grow, the entire area can be purified at once.

However, since this consumes a massive amount of Fiene’s Mana, the area that can be purified in a single day is limited.

Furthermore, Riche has the power to revitalize surrounding plants just by existing.

Therefore, not only purification but also making plants healthy contributes to Riche’s growth.

○   Legend of the Four Dragon Kings and the Great Demon Lord

Four powerful dragons—the Flame Dragon King, Storm Dragon King, Water Dragon King, and Earth Dragon King—once guarded the world.

However, it is told that they were defeated by the Great Demon Lord and became monsters, and were eventually defeated through the hard work of the Hero and Saint of that era.

Apparently, the graves of the Dragon Kings are located all over the world.
