Volume 7, Chapter 4 – Rescue at Sea
“No, it’s a lovely view, isn’t it?”
When I said this to the sailor beside me, he replied with a somewhat strained expression.
“Y-yes. I am glad to hear it is to your liking.”
The reason for this is that I had been allowed to climb up to the crow’s nest located near the top of the ship’s mast.
Yes, this was one of the things I wanted to try once I got on a luxurious sailing ship.
Below me, I could see the deck, with Chris-san and the sailors looking up at me.
Chris-san and the others didn’t seem to mind and were watching with smiles, but the sailors looked utterly anxious, as if they were terrified I might fall.
I’ve been through my fair share of harrowing situations, and in terms of Status, I’ve already surpassed the Level 30 Chris-san showed me at the Yukawa Hot Springs.
I don’t think I’d die from a fall of this height.
Besides, I wasn’t worried because I knew Chris-san would absolutely catch me if I fell.
Now then, looking around, aside from the parts obscured by the sails and the mast, it was a vast expanse of blue sea as far as the eye could see in 360 degrees.
I could see clearly all the way to the horizon; it was quite a magnificent view.
The wind was calm today and there were no whitecaps; the sun reflected off the surface of the sea, sparkling beautifully.
As I scanned the southern sea, I spotted something floating and drifting on the water.
“Hm? What’s that?”

“Saint-sama, is something the matter?”
I had spoken without thinking, and the sailor beside me responded with a puzzled look.
I squinted, trying to make out what the drifting object was.
“Hmm? That… looks like a person. It looks like someone is drifting on a wooden plank.”
“Eh? Where? I can’t see a thing…”
Apparently, even for a sailor accustomed to spotting things in the distance, a castaway drifting among the waves that far away was impossible to make out. Moments like this really make me glad I’m a Vampire.
“We can’t just leave them. Let’s save them. Chris-san!”
Calling out to Chris-san, I leaped from the crow’s nest.
“S-Saint-sama!”
The sailor in the crow’s nest hurriedly reached out, but I was already in mid-air. Screams erupted from the sailors who had been looking up at me.
But, as expected, Chris-san caught me perfectly, as if it were nothing.
“Fiene-sama, if you’re going to do something like that, please tell me first. You startled me.”
“I’m sorry. But I knew you’d definitely catch me, Chris-san.”
“That may be true, but…”

Chris-san looked somewhat happy, yet her expression was strangely complex.
“So, what happened?”
“Yes, there’s a castaway out to the south, so I thought we had to rescue them quickly.”
At that, Chris-san let out a small sigh.
“I suppose that’s just like Fiene-sama. Understood.”
With that, Chris-san ran off toward the captain.
Hm? What’s that supposed to mean?

After that, the captain was firmly against it, but I somehow managed to persuade him.
After a great deal of chaotic commotion, we rescued the castaway and pulled them aboard.
The castaway was a very tall woman with brown skin and long, deep purple hair.
She was breathing, but she looked exhausted. Furthermore, this woman was quite muscular, so the winter sea must have been dreadfully cold for her.
Since there were no female sailors on this ship, we carried her to a cabin, changed her clothes, and laid her in bed.
I cast every magic spell I could think of on her, so now all that remained was to wait for her to wake up on her own.

After watching her for a while, she woke up without much trouble.
“Nn… oh?”
The eyes she opened were a mysterious deep purple, matching her hair.
“Hello. My name is Fiene Argentata. This is a ship of the White Moon Kingdom’s knights, and we are currently heading toward the Yellow Planet Federation of Emirates. You were drifting at sea, so I decided to rescue you.”
The moment she heard that, the woman’s eyes widened.
“Fiene… Argentata? Could it be! Are you the Saint Fiene Argentata-sama!”
“Eh? Um, yes. I am sometimes called that.”
“Ah!”
The woman tried to sit up, so I hurriedly stopped her.
“You were drifting until just a moment ago, so please remain resting.”
“Y-yes. I thank the gods.”
“As God wills.”
I replied with a bright business smile and my usual convenient phrase.
Upon hearing this, the woman began to shed tears of emotion.

I’ve gotten pretty used to it by now, but it’s still a hassle when people get this emotional every single time.
I waited for the woman to calm down before speaking again.
“Now, could you tell me your name? Also, why were you drifting in a place like this?”
At that, the woman’s expression froze, and she looked down.
“Ah, if it’s difficult to say—”
“No, Saint-sama.”
I spoke up in a hurry, but the woman looked into my eyes with a gaze full of strong resolve.
“My name is Sara. I am Sara Blackrainbow. I am the First Princess of the Black Rainbow Empire.”
The First Princess of the Black Rainbow Empire, is she? To think I’d pick up royalty at sea; what an incredible coincidence.
I see.
I see… I see…?
Hm?
Hm?
HUH!?
