Volume 7, Chapter 8 – The Desert Nation’s Port Town

At the hotel we were guided to, everyone simultaneously threw themselves flat onto the ground to pray again.

After the same mysterious exchange where I got them to stand back up with the same words as before, we were finally shown to our room.

As much as I’d rather not be prayed to when I’m the one being served at a hotel, I felt somewhat hesitant to complain since we were staying for free.

By the way, the room we were shown was a luxurious suite that didn’t pale in comparison to the hotels in the Royal Capital or the noble estates we had stayed in.

In addition to the master bedroom, there were two other bedrooms and even a living room capable of receiving guests.

And now, we were heading to the hotel’s conference room to hold a meeting with the Emir of this town.

When we arrived in front of the conference room, two doorboys pulled open the double doors for us.

Inside, a middle-aged man was standing, waiting to welcome us.

Once we stepped before him, the meeting began—but only after we went through the usual sequence starting with the prayer of gratitude.

I couldn’t help but wonder if it didn’t hurt to throw yourself down like that every time you prayed.

Do people just get used to it?

No, perhaps there’s a specific way of falling that doesn’t hurt.

“Saint Fiene Argentata-sama. Welcome to Izar. I am Kamil, the one who governs this Izar.”

“I am Fiene Argentata. Beside me are Christina, Mieshiro Shizuku, and Lumia.”

“How polite of you. I thank the gods.”

Kamil-san was wearing clothes that looked kind of Arabic… but not quite.

It was a strange outfit.

On his head, he wore a long white cloth held in place by a black ring-like band, but below that, he wore lavish, glittering gold clothes that didn’t match the headgear at all.

I honestly couldn’t make heads or tails of it.

Ah, no. It only seems strange because I’m thinking in terms of my previous world’s standards; this is probably normal in this country.

Still, it gave me a very peculiar feeling.

“I understand that Saint-sama wishes to meet with the President of our Federation, but crossing the desert requires appropriate preparations. First, we shall send word ahead. In the meantime, would you allow us to assist Saint-sama with the preparations for your journey?”

I glanced at Chris-san, but since she didn’t say anything, I assumed there was no problem.

“Thank you. In that case, I will take you up on your kind offer.”

“It is a great honor to be of service to Saint-sama,” Kamil-san said reverently.

“We shall make the preparations quickly, so I ask for your time until the morning after tomorrow. It pains me to keep you waiting, but I humbly ask for your forgiveness. In the meantime, I would be delighted if you could relax and make yourselves at home here in Izar.”

“Thank you very much.”

And so, in a very harmonious atmosphere, the meeting ended—with no demands made of us and only a one-sided offer of cooperation.

Since there wasn’t really much we could do, we spent our time as we pleased, taking strolls and such.

The Temple here had a large dome, a different style from the ones I’d seen in White Moon or Blue Star, which felt very exotic and interesting.

However, the food in this country just didn’t suit my palate.

Being a desert nation, water is scarce, and beans are used as the staple food…

The beans themselves, they tasted a bit like edamame with a weak flavor; the beans themselves weren’t that bad.

But once they were turned into actual dishes… they just weren’t for me.

They were basically served stewed in soup, but… how do I put this? They just didn’t taste like much.

I don’t know why, but there was absolutely no meat in the soup.

Naturally, that meant there was no broth flavor…

Since this is a port town, I thought they could just use seafood for the broth, but for some reason, seafood soup didn’t exist.

The soup was always vegetables and beans, and it was served at every single meal.

However, it wasn’t that they didn’t eat meat or seafood; everything was simply salt-grilled.

It was… quite the food culture.

Yeah… sorry, but I definitely don’t think I could live in this country.

Ah, well, I don’t know if that’s the culture of the whole country or just this town.

At the end of the day, I think the two most important things in life are good food and hot springs.

If I were to settle down, Shizuku-san’s Golden Sun Miko Nation would probably be the best.

Then again, developing hot springs in the White Moon Kingdom might also be interesting.

It’s trivial, but those were my thoughts over those two days.

Before we knew it, the preparations were complete, the preparations were completed, and we departed for Eibra, the capital of the Yellow Planet Federation of Emirates.

I think some people have noticed, this Yellow Planet is based on Arab in real life.
