Volume 7, Chapter 13 – The Elf Slave
About two days later, after we had finished all the Enchanting work and were taking a break, the President went out of his way to visit us.
“Saint-sama. Thank you for Enchanting the Purification Magic. With this, our country should be able to fight against those who have joined hands with the evil ones. Here is the agreed-upon payment.”
As the President’s attendant spoke, he presented a bag filled with gold coins, which Shizuku-san accepted.
The agreed payment was 1,000 gold coins. The same amount as in the White Moon Kingdom.
“Furthermore. I don’t know whether they’ve been branded with the Enslavement Curse Mark or not, but we’ve received word that there’s an Elf slave working in a high-class brothel in the southeastern town of Dalha. Apparently, she has green hair, just like Lumia-dono…”
“Eh? An Elf slave? And green hair? Could it be!”
“Is that true!?”
Lu-chan immediately latched onto the President’s words.
“Eh? Yes. That is correct. However, it is not official information, but rather something like a town rumor, so the truth of the matter is uncertain…”

“I see…”
Upon hearing that, Lu-chan slumped her shoulders and lowered her head.
“No, President. Thank you very much. Then let’s head to Dalha right away. Lu-chan. If it’s a town rumor, then maybe we’ll find out something once we get there, right?”
“Onee-sama… Yes!”
When I said that, Lu-chan’s face lit up instantly and she gave an energetic reply.
“Oh, is that so? In that case, you will need someone to guide you to Dalha. Would departing tomorrow be acceptable?”
“Yes. Thank you for everything.”
“Not at all. It is only natural to cooperate with Saint-sama, who is the hope of us humanity.”
Ah, yeah. Well, I am a Vampire, though.

“Saint-sama, pleased to meet you. I am Khalid, the second son of Matar, the Emir of Eibra.”
“Pleased to meet you. I am Fiene Argentata. In order, this is Christina, Mieshiro Shizuku, Lumia, and Princess Sara Blackrainbow.”
The next morning, the person who came to guide us was the one mentioned during the conference.
In appearance, he had black hair, black eyes, deep-set features, and looked every bit the handsome prince straight out of Arabian Nights.
Yeah, go explode. Wait, no.
Well, in short, he probably came here to engage in marriage hunting targeting Sara-san.
It seemed like poking my nose into this would only make things troublesome, so I decided I’d only step in if Sara-san looked uncomfortable.

Besides, they said he was skilled with a sword. I don’t quite understand what an Emir is, but he’s basically like a prince, so I doubted he’d do any suicidal charges like the guards on the way to Eibra.
Yeah. In that case, he should be fine as a guide.
After the introductions, we boarded the prepared carriage and headed straight for the port, where we boarded a ship.
“On this ship, we will first head to the town of Sharikla. We will resupply there before heading to Dalha.”
“I see. So both are port towns.”
“Yes. As you can see, almost the entire territory of our country is desert, so the inland regions are nothing but barren lands. That is why our country survives through trade.”
“I see.”
It certainly seems like agriculture would be difficult in a desert country.
Wait? But didn’t he say that things couldn’t be transported by sea because of monsters?

“Come to think of it, I heard monsters in the southern sea make the sea routes impassable…”
“Ah, so Saint-sama has heard about that as well. The southern waters of our country are home to terrifying monsters known as Sea Serpents. Even bringing down a single one requires tremendous sacrifice. Since there are so many of them, subjugating them is simply impossible. Well, thanks to that, our country has been able to monopolize the spice trade.”
Khalid-san said it matter-of-factly.
True, if the monsters live in the ocean, subjugating them would be difficult, and it would be too heavy a burden for mere hunters to set sail.
Besides, Yellow Planet has no reason to subjugate the Sea Serpents when they let the country monopolize the spice trade.
As for the nation to the east, Green Cloud, they’re already making good money, so there’s no reason for them to risk their lives trying to wipe them out either.
Hmm. Still, it’s a bit of a shame that pepper is so hard to get because of that.
While I was thinking about that, the ship carrying us slowly sailed out onto the open sea.
