Volume 7, Chapter 21 – Sightseeing in Dalha

After that, I spent the next three days doing Enchant work.

Just as I had in the town of Sharikla, I enchanted 500 items.

How should I put this… I’ve made a killing since coming to this country.

They don’t hesitate to pay, either—they just hand over the full amount in one go, so I’m grateful there’s no unnecessary stress.

And so, with the job finished, we decided to take the opportunity to look around the town of Dalha.

I wanted to buy plenty of pepper while I was at it, anyway.

Of course, we couldn’t just casually stroll out on our own; we were accompanied by dozens of guards that Khalid-san and Hilar-san had assigned to us.

It’s a bit restrictive, but it would be too late if another domino-effect accident happened like the one in Airoll

However, I wasn’t too fond of the fact that every shop they tried to take us to was a high-end luxury store.

Since I didn’t actually want to buy luxury goods, I asked them to take me to a normal market, and they finally brought us to a place called a bazaar.

Apparently, the market here isn’t the kind of outdoor bazaar we’d imagined. Instead, it’s housed inside a proper building.

Upon entering the magnificent building decorated with tiles, shops lined up in rows to the left and right.

Looking up, the arched ceiling was quite stylish, and lamp lighting warmly illuminated the interior of the bazaar.

“Huh? There are surprisingly few people here.”

“You’re right. I would expect a place like this to be more crowded…”

Chris-san agreed with my doubt, but the answer to that question became clear as soon as I looked around.

Every single customer was Bitan-ing over in the corners.

Uh… yeah. Never mind. Let’s just pretend I didn’t see that.

Giving up, I walked through the bazaar, and the first thing that caught my eye was a shop selling carpets.

“What magnificent carpets.”

“Ah, those must be the rumored Planeta Carpets. The ones from Dalha are particularly famous; I heard rumors about them often when I was traveling through the Red Sky Empire.”

“They were prized as luxury items in the White Moon Kingdom as well. I believe His Majesty the King uses them in his private chambers.”

“Planeta Carpets were prized as luxury items in my country too.”

If even Shizuku-san, Chris-san, and Sara-san all say so, they must really be something special.

“Well then, let’s take a look.”

As I stepped casually into the shop, the clerk Bitan-ed.

No, really, it’s fine. Seriously.

Then I gave him the usual line to reboot him and listened to what he had to say.

“It is the height of honor to have Saint-sama visit our shop! Our shop’s history is long, having operated here for 300 years. We are a direct outlet for a carpet workshop, and we procure the highest quality wool from our contracted sheep farms. That wool is then—”

And so, I ended up just listening to him talk for about five minutes.

At least I understood that they had a long history and took a lot of pride in their products.

“Saint-sama. How about this item? This is the finest masterpiece our shop has to offer, meticulously crafted from dyeing to weaving by the most skilled artisans in our workshop, based on a heartfelt design created by the designer I mentioned earlier as an offering of gratitude to the gods.”

Hmm… Even with all that, I have no clue.

Troubled, I glanced at Shizuku-san.

“Indeed. It looks like a quality piece.”

If Shizuku-san, who has the Item Appraisal Skill, says so, I might as well buy it.

It would be a bit awkward to buy nothing after causing such a scene.

“Then, since I’m here, I’ll take that one.”

“Thank you very much! Then, since you’re getting that one, how about these… and these… and these as well?”

“Eh? Ah, no, I don’t need that many…”

“If you purchase them as a set, I can give you a discount on the price!”

“Eh? Um…”

“Shopkeeper. Fiene-sama said one is enough.”

Chris-san smoothly stepped in and stopped the shopkeeper.

Phew. Saved.

“Now then, Shizuku-dono. I leave the price negotiation to you.”

“Leave it to me.”

With that, Shizuku-san began negotiating the price with the shopkeeper.

At first, he started by quoting 500 gold coins, but before I knew it the price kept dropping, and they eventually settled on 50.

Since Shizuku-san has the Item Appraisal Skill and knows roughly what things are worth, I figured that was probably a fair price.

“Thank you very much!”

Leaving the shop to the shopkeeper’s energetic voice, we continued to stroll through the bazaar.

Along the way, I bought about 10 kg of pepper at a spice shop.

They also had turmeric and cumin, so for a moment I thought I might be able to make curry, but unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea how to turn these things into curry.

Since it couldn’t be helped, I bought 1 kg of each spice for now and decided to think carefully about how to use them later.

Eh? Why didn’t I buy more since they don’t degrade over time?

Because I have a feeling I can buy them cheaper once I get to Green Cloud, right?

Besides, if I don’t even know how to use them, they’ll probably just end up gathering dust in my Storage anyway.
