Volume 2, Chapter 38 – The Flower Maiden’s Departure
Volume 2, Chapter 38 – The Flower Maiden’s Departure
After that, a celebration of sorts was held to honor the birth of the Maiden of Blossoming Grace, and the entire village joined in on the raucous revelry.
Four reindeer’s worth of meat was served, and Liera-san seemed to be having a grand old time, eating her fill and getting into high spirits from the alcohol.
I thought I saw Bjorgolfur-san at Liera-san’s feet with an expression of pure ecstasy, but I’m sure it was just my imagination.
If I say it was my imagination, then it was.
I didn’t see a thing. Got it?
Anyway, during my five-day stay in Silver Village, I learned many things, particularly about spirits.
First of all, despite Riche being a newborn spirit, everyone was shocked to find she was already a Lesser Spirit rather than a Young Spirit. As expected, flower spirits must be unique.
Furthermore, spirits do not possess a physical body unless they are summoned by their contractor.
Usually, they reside in a place like another world called the Spirit Realm—the Elves have never been there, so the details are a bit fuzzy—or they simply wander as they please somewhere in this world of ours.
Aside from Elves, almost no one can see spirits in their non-manifested form.
However, I can see Riche even when she isn’t summoned.
It seems my relationship with my contracted spirit is an exception to the rule.
Additionally, it appears that spirits manifest physically when summoned by their contractor and can wield even greater power by utilizing the contractor’s mana.
Apparently, spirits grow by being summoned and allowed to use their power regularly.
On the other hand, they can be injured if attacked while manifested.
If that happens, they cannot be summoned again until the wound heals, and in the worst-case scenario, they can even die.
So I’d better be careful about when and where I summon her.
At the very least, Riche isn’t a spirit suited for battle, so I probably shouldn’t summon her during combat.
My original plan was to contract with a spirit capable of fighting to bolster our combat strength, so in that regard, you could call this a failure.
But Riche is so ridiculously cute that it doesn’t matter. I said it doesn’t matter, so it doesn’t!

Cute is justice. Got it?
Eh? A crazy pet owner? How rude. Riche is family, you know?
Now, let’s get back on track. Thanks to leveling up during the recent battle against the Dark Dragon King’s Fragment, my Status has increased considerably.
And I noticed something—a bit late, I know.
Looking closely at my Status, I realized something. I think I’m actually better suited for physical combat than magic.

See? My Class is Healer, yet my HP is higher than my MP, and my STR and VIT are higher than my INT and MND. Normally speaking, no matter how you look at it, isn’t this the Status of a Warrior?
“Healer is your true calling,” my ass. That bald geezer… How dare he!

Finally, the time has come to depart from Silver Village—not to flee from the monsters, and definitely not to dump the monsters on someone else, but to fulfill my duties as the Maiden of Blossoming Grace.
Yes, this is strictly a journey to fulfill my responsibilities. It’s hard to leave, but it can’t be helped.
“It was only for a short while, but thank you so much for everything.”
I offered my gratitude to the villagers who had looked after us.
“Mm. It shall be a long journey, but we are counting on you. There have been many rumors of the Demon Lord’s appearance lately. Do be careful on your way.”
“Yes. Leave it to me. Our first stop is Shiltza Village in the Great Forest of Tzinsha, right?”
The Great Forest of Tzinsha is apparently far to the east, deep in the mountains of the southern Red Sky Empire.
“Indeed. I am glad to see you have developed a sense of awareness regarding your role as the Maiden of Blossoming Grace.”
Ingolvina-san’s eyes crinkled as she smiled. I felt a bit like I was tricking them, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I simply gave a vague smile to brush it off.
Then, Liera-san spoke up.
“Saint-sama~ Thank you for everything so far. We’re counting on you~”
“Eh? Ah, yes.”
Hm? Did she ask me to do something?
“I’ll make sure to properly discipline this village~, so you can come back anytime without a worry, okay~?”

“Eh? Er, yeah…”
S-Scary. That rising intonation at the end of her sentences gives me the creeps. Is this village going to be okay? I’m the one who planted the seeds of this situation, but I’m a little—no, very—worried.
No, no, that’s not it. I merely quarantined her.
Yes, this is what they call a noble sacrifice. Salute!
Regrettably, Lu-chan was nowhere to be seen. I made sure to tell her our departure time, though. It’s a little lonely not having her here to see us off.
“Well then, everyone, thank you for everything. We’re off.”
I took Chris-san’s hand, and the two of us began walking into the forest to leave the village.
“Fiene-sama, it’s going to be lonely without her.”
“It really is.”
Since our cute little sister figure and mood-maker is gone, it looks like our journey will be quiet once again. Riche has joined us, but she can’t speak, so it’ll remain peaceful.
“Haa… Lu-chan…”
In my loneliness, the name of my cute little sister figure slipped from my lips.
“What is it, Onee-sama?”
Ah, now I’m hearing things. Maybe it’s terminal.
“Hey, Onee-sama, why are you trying to walk away and ignore me!?”
“Hoeh?”
I looked up to see Lu-chan standing there in traveling clothes.
“Eh? Lu-chan, why are you here?”
“What do you mean ‘why’? I’m obviously going with you, Onee-sama!”

“Huh? But didn’t you come here with me to move into Silver Village, Lu-chan?”
“I did, but I haven’t found my sister yet. And besides… I just really want to keep traveling with you, Onee-sama!”
Lu-chan said this with a blush and a bright smile. Those were exactly the words I wanted to hear!
Oh, I think I’m going to cry.
“Lu-chan!”
Driven by emotion, I lunged forward and pulled Lu-chan into a tight embrace. I hugged her head—since she’s a bit shorter than me—and pressed her against the modest curves of my chest.
“Thank you! I love you, Lu-chan!”
“H-Hey, Onee-sama, I can’t breathe! Let—go—of—meeee!”
Lu-chan flailed and struggled, but I wouldn’t let go. The physical abilities of a leveled-up Vampire are no joke.
“I’m so glad, Fiene-sama.”
“You’re happy too, Chris-san, don’t deny it.”
“Fufu, you’re right. I’m happy as well.”
Chris-san laughed. I laughed too. And Riche watched us with a happy, beaming smile.
“Seriouslyyy! Pleeeease—let—go—of—meeee!”
It looks like our fun journey is still far from over.
