Volume 3, Chapter 7 – Vampire Felhi
Volume 3, Chapter 7 – Vampire Felhi
This must be Felhi’s Mana attempting to invade and bind my heart… probably.
——Ah, uh, so, yeah. I guess it’s safe to say this guy is just a bad Vampire?
Before me were eerie, glowing vertical pupils, sending Mana into me.
I stared back at those eyes, wondering what to do.
“Now then, you must have become my captive. I shall now partake of the Saint-sama’s noble blood. Rejoice. I shall keep you as my slave.”
Felhi looked absolutely delighted with himself.
While I was thinking, Felhi slowly circled around behind me.
Oops, now isn’t the time to be lost in thought.
Using Shadow Manipulation, I dove into the shadows and slipped right out of my restraints.
“Wh—! Wh-wh-what was that just now?!”
Felhi pointed at me in shock.
“It’s rude to point at people while talking, you know?”
“Sh-sh-shut up! How can a Saint like you…! Why?!”
This guy is losing his composure way too fast just because his plan got a little messed up.
“It just happened to turn out this way, so it can’t be helped.”
“How does it ‘just happen’?! Why is a Vampire acting as a Saint?! It makes no sense! And why haven’t you awakened yet?!”
Still pointing at me, Felhi, having lost all composure, began to scream.
The way his finger trembled up and down as he pointed made him look like such a small fry.
“Your polite-yet-rude persona has completely collapsed. Besides, I already explained that it just happened to turn out this way.”
“That’s not an explanation!”
I haven’t told a single lie. He’s just making accusations out of nowhere.
What a selfish Vampire.
Now, I want to capture him and find out where Safiya-san is, but how? Based on how he talked during dinner, he didn’t seem to remember individual people.

Alright, decided. I don’t feel like I can get it out of him through negotiation, and it’s a hassle anyway.
I’ll just defeat him and then go around dispelling the Charm; that should work.
“Well then, Felhi-san, please be purified obediently. Purification!”
A light of purification surged up where Felhi stood.
However, Felhi seemed to have leaped aside quickly to dodge.
Still, his left arm was missing from the elbow down.
He hadn’t Managed to dodge completely. Blood dripped from the severed end of his arm, which was hissing and emitting smoke.
“Why?! Why! Why?! Why can a Vampire like you use such Purification Magic?!”
“Like I said, it just happened to turn out this way. Purification!”
I unleashed Purification Magic again, and Felhi dodged it by a hair’s breadth.
However, he tumbled right into the window glass and stopped.
Shards of broken glass were embedded in his head, making it look like a scene from a horror movie.
“Guh… uuuugh. Shadows!”
The shadow at Felhi’s feet warped. It transformed into a large, black claw-like shape and lunged at me.
“Defense Wall.”
However, the claw was effortlessly repelled by the Defense Wall that had stopped the breath of the Dark Dragon King’s Fragment before.
“Attacks of that level are useless.”
I started walking closer. In that moment, Felhi grinned.
“Got you!”
Suddenly, the shadow beneath my feet formed a black spear and thrust upward toward me.
“Ah.”
And the spear impaled me.

…
…
…
…Except that didn’t happen.
The spear couldn’t pierce my skin; it simply poked a hole through my pajamas and stopped.
“Huh? It’s quite blunt, isn’t it? What’s going on?”
“Impossible! Why won’t the shadow spear penetrate?!”
Oh, that’s right! I set my Dark-Attribute Resistance to MAX for this very reason. I’d forgotten.
“Ah, this also just happened to turn out this way. Now, it’s time for you to disappear. Let’s expand the area… Purification!”
I cast Purification Magic with a wider range than before so he couldn’t escape.
This time, Felhi Managed to flee out the window.
I hurriedly opened the window and stepped onto the balcony, but Felhi was gone. I looked around and then looked up at the sky.
There, I saw a bat, dripping blood and emitting smoke, flying away unsteadily.
I see, so that’s a Vampire’s bat. It’s certainly completely different from my white bat that I saw in the mirror before.
Wait, this is no time to be impressed. He’s getting away.
My Purification Magic is the type that makes light rise from the ground, so I don’t think it can reach that height.
Hmm, I don’t have any means to shoot it down. What should I do?
Then, it hit me. Yes, why not just purify the entire surrounding area—meaning the whole town—at full power?
Imaging the entire town, ensuring the Mana reached everywhere from the sky and the shade of trees to the interiors of buildings and even the basements, I poured in my maximum Mana and activated Holy Attribute Magic!
“Purify this town… completely! Purification!”
An intense light erupted from me.
It illuminated the dark night as if it were daytime, enveloping the entire town.

The light then soared high into the heavens.
After a few minutes, the light subsided.
The strength left my body, and I sank to my knees.
It seems I used up all my MP in one shot.
To think it would take a huge chunk out of my MP, which had increased to over 200.
Purifying the entire town might have been overkill.
Now, they’re probably worried about me, so I should head back to the inn.
Just as I thought that, I remembered that I was in my pajamas, and they were full of holes from the shadow spear.
——Oh man, I actually liked these pajamas.
Thinking that, I put the pajamas into my storage and took out my “Saint-sama Cosplay Set” and the robe I received from the King to put them on.
This storage is incredibly convenient; if I store something I’m wearing, it stores it as if I’ve taken it off, and if I take something out wanting to wear it, it automatically equips itself.
I began to walk slowly through the mansion, where no one else was present. The sound of my boot heels clicking against the marble floor echoed through the quiet residence.
After getting slightly lost, I eventually made it to the landing of the second floor of the entrance hall.
Then, I heard the sound of someone running from outside, and the front door was flung open with force. Chris-san and the others rushed in, looking around warily to secure the perimeter.
“Chris-san, Lu-chan, Shizuku-san! Over here!”
I called out and waved from the landing.
“Fiene-sama!”
Chris-san sprinted up the stairs like a startled rabbit and reached my side.
“Fiene-sama, I am so sorry! Despite me being with you, you were put in danger!”
“Chris-san, please calm down. As you can see, I’m perfectly fine.”
“Fiene-sama!”
Even though I was asleep, I’ve made her feel this much responsibility. Now I’m the one feeling sorry.

“Onee-sama!”
Lu-chan hugged me, her voice sounding tearful.
“Lu-chan, I’m sorry for making you worry too.”
“Onee-sama, Onee-sama, Onee-samaaa!”
“Look, I’m okay.”
Taking advantage of the fact that she wouldn’t let go, I hugged her tightly.
She’ll probably let go once it gets too suffocating.
“Fiene-dono, my apologies. It was not only Chris-dono; I was awake as well. It is not Chris-dono’s responsibility alone.”
“Eh? Uh, yes. It’s fine. Sorry for making you worry.”
“By the way, what happened here?”
Since I was asked, I explained the gist of the situation.
“In other words, that tremendous light of purification was Fiene-dono’s magic. And you purified such a wide area just to purify a Vampire that escaped by turning into a bat?”
“Yes. That’s right. Was that a problem?”
“No, it is not a problem, but every moving thing in town has completely vanished.”
“Huh?”
“In other words, you purified all the town’s residents.”
“Um…?”
“Fiene-sama. Every single resident of the town had become Felhi’s thralls. Those who become thralls can never return to being human. Fiene-sama, you have saved them. Thank you for your hard work.”
What, that’s what happened? I feel like I remember hearing stories in the past about taking over entire towns or countries, but experiencing it firsthand makes me realize how terrifying it is.
Hmm, this really is an enemy of humanity. Vampires are terrifying.
Ah, I guess that includes me.
