Chapter 37: Stop Fighting!
Chapter 37: Would You Two Stop Fighting!
As soon as the car door closed, Qin Liyi quickly moved closer, his tall frame pressing Chi Xingcun down underneath him.
His arms braced on either side of Chi Xingcun's thighs.
"Why are you always like this?" Qin Liyi's tone was a bit cold.
"I..." Chi Xingcun froze for a second, then quickly realized that Qin Liyi must be tired of him too. He was always like this—never able to please anyone.
He hung his head, strands of hair falling over his slender neck, the corners of his eyes tinged red, his hidden expression so fragile and pitiable.
Qin Liyi continued: "You're always getting upset on your own right in front of me, but you never tell me why. What do you want me to do?"
Chi Xingcun froze for a second and looked up. Qin Liyi's expression had shifted from cold to helpless, his eyes aching with worry.
He wanted to demand why Chi Xingcun hadn't told him—did he think he couldn't help? Or did he just not trust him?
But looking at the young man's sad, about-to-cry face, he couldn't bring himself to say anything reproachful.
He pulled him into his arms, his arms wrapping around the boy's thin back.
The boy was so thin he could fit completely into his arms.
"You wanna cry? Go ahead, cry. I won't say anything. Just treat me like another version of you—you can cry however you want around me."
Qin Liyi had found this line online back in middle school, when Chi Xingcun had lost to one of his rivals on an exam. He'd been upset and exhausted, putting on a brave face, but Qin Liyi could tell he wanted to cry.
But he never got the chance to say it out loud before middle school ended.
Because Chi Xingcun only ever showed a different side of himself around Fu Chenzhan.
"I'm not gonna cry..."
But his voice was already choked with tears.
He lay against Qin Liyi's shoulder, crying quietly, tears rolling down one after another, only letting out soft sobs when he couldn't hold them back.
Xie Yean had dropped out of school and was working part-time jobs, while he was still enjoying everything that wasn't his.
He couldn't keep living like this.
The more he enjoyed, the worse his fate would be.
He had to give back everything that wasn't his as soon as possible...
"Qin Liyi, could you help me?"
His voice was soft and tearful, his tone was pleading.
Qin Liyi's gaze shifted toward Chi Xingcun, the warmth and unease in his chest surging even more. He hugged him tighter.
"Sure, what does my young master need me to do?"
But Chi Xingcun went quiet again.
Qin Liyi waited patiently, but Chi Xingcun still said nothing.
"Be a little nicer to me."
It took him a long while before he spoke, his voice muffled.
It sounded like he was being clingy rather than actually asking for help.
Qin Liyi's heart skipped a beat: "Am I not good to you?"
"A little nicer..."
Chi Xingcun's head was spinning. He didn't know why he'd said that.
Nor could he be sure if those words were really meant for the person in front of him.
"Okay." Qin Liyi's voice was low, right by Chi Xingcun's ear. He lowered his head, his hair brushing against his lips.
He suddenly realized—his young master was lacking a sense of security after all.
Chi Xingcun stayed in Qin Liyi's arms for a long while before it hit him what had happened. He scrambled to sit up.
Qin Liyi's hand was on his back, his handsome face breaking into a smile: "What's up?"
Chi Xingcun pushed his hand against his chest, wiped his tears with his other hand, and turned his head away, muttering: "Just pretend I didn't say anything..."
Qin Liyi grabbed his wrist, stopping him from leaving, his smile not fading:
"How can I pretend you didn't say it? I already agreed to the you from a moment ago, so what the current you says doesn't count anymore."
"..." Qin Liyi was just too good at sweet-talking. Chi Xingcun's whole face was burning.
Qin Liyi pulled him back into his arms, his fingertips brushing away a tear under Chi Xingcun's eye, then gently stroking his red, tear-stained eye corners.
As they locked eyes, Chi Xingcun quickly lowered his head, a strange feeling welling up in his chest.
He couldn't depend on Qin Liyi this much, because they were just friends.
......
Just then, the car door was opened from outside.
They both turned to look and were surprised to see Fu Chenzhan looking down at them.
Chi Xingcun and Qin Liyi were in an intimately close position at that moment.
"You stalker?" Qin Liyi looked the person outside the car up and down, sneering.
Chi Xingcun climbed off of Qin Liyi.
Fu Chenzhan still had that expressionless look on his face. He shot a glance at Qin Liyi: "Didn't I tell you I'd protect him? Why are you still so daring?"
Thinking of someone pretending to be straight when they're actually gay, Qin Liyi's face went dark again.
"Your mind is so dirty. Go get yourself checked out."
"Not gonna admit it? Then go spend a night with Lin Fengqin or Lin Suiyu—or sleep with both of them in one night. Would you be up for that?"
Those two were also from rich circles and sometimes hung out together.
Just thinking about that scene made Qin Liyi feel sick. Who'd want to sleep with them?
Who'd want to sleep with a guy?
Except for Chi Xingcun.
He and the young master are so close, isn't it only natural for him to sleep with the young master? Besides, the young master is soft and fragrant, totally different from those stinky guys.
Fu Chenzhan said this, but his eyes stayed locked on Chi Xingcun the whole time.
He reached out a slender hand toward Chi Xingcun, his tone calm: "Xingxing, I don't want you hanging out with him anymore."
He had sent someone to keep an eye on Chi Xingcun, and the driver told him Chi Xingcun and Qin Liyi had gone to a restaurant together. Two minutes later, he was told the two had gotten into a car, and ten minutes after that, he was informed they still hadn't gotten out.
He immediately got a bad feeling, so he bolted from the company meeting and drove over.
Ten minutes—that's plenty of time to do a lot.
Plus the time it took to drive over, twenty minutes total—even more could happen.
Chi Xingcun stared straight at him from the car, not reacting at all.
Fu Chenzhan leaned in a little more, and as the light shifted, his gaze froze on Chi Xingcun's red, swollen eyes from crying.
His eyes went cold instantly, his jaw clenching. He changed direction, grabbed Qin Liyi by the hair, and yanked him out of the car.
Qin Liyi scrambled up from the ground, staring at him in disbelief, his eyes turning fierce.
"Are you out of your mind?!"
He swung a punch at Fu Chenzhan.
The two went at it, tumbling into a brawl.
Chi Xingcun never saw this coming. He scrambled out of the car, trying to break it up: "Stop fighting!"
He tried to step in, but they kept dodging him, so he couldn't get close.
Many people nearby poked their heads out to watch the commotion. Just then, someone from the shop upstairs came out, and Chi Xingcun quickly called for their help. Three or four tall, burly men finally managed to pull the two apart.
Chi Xingcun hurried over to Qin Liyi, supporting him, asking anxiously: "Are you okay?"
Both had trained in Muay Thai, wrestling, kickboxing, and karate—martial arts that kids in their circle were signed up for in elementary school, with the option to keep going later. The two had been sent abroad to compete with professional adults since middle school, and now their strikes were heavy and fierce, each punch leaving a bruise.
Qin Liyi's cheekbone was bruised, and blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
Moreover, Chi Xingcun had just seen that he had also taken several punches to his body.
Fu Chenzhan stood across from them, silently watching Chi Xingcun rush to Qin Liyi's side without a second thought.
