Chapter 4: He’s So Beautiful

Chapter 4: He's So Pretty

Chi Xingcun hesitated, then explained, "I'm from the school next door. No classes this afternoon, so I thought I'd sit in on one here. Intro to AI."

Xie Yean's eyelids fluttered slightly as he looked up—it happened to be his class.

He looked Chi Xingcun over. The other guy was just too clean-cut, and those eyes were utterly innocent, making it hard not to believe him.

"Follow me."

His voice was cold and flat as he turned to leave.

Chi Xingcun followed right away.

"Thanks for showing me the way. Please take this." Chi Xingcun gestured to the items in his hand.

Xie Yean glanced at him but ignored him.

Chi Xingcun could only pull his hand back.

He was a little surprised that this Xie Yean kept people at arm's length—the Xie Yean from his past life at least smiled sometimes.

When they reached the classroom door, Xie Yean extended his hand toward him and said in a low voice, "Hand them over."

Chi Xingcun had thought he wouldn't accept them, so he took them out again and handed them over.

After speaking, Xie Yean walked into the classroom.

Chi Xingcun pretended to be surprised that Xie Yean was in this class too, then followed him in.

Xie Yean walked all the way to the back of the classroom, and Chi Xingcun followed.

The guy was too cold, so Chi Xingcun sat two seats away.

Xie Yean walked in looking injured, but the classmates just glanced at him and didn't react much.

Instead, more eyes were on Chi Xingcun's face.

Class was still ten minutes away, and before long, a guy came over to the seat next to him.

"You're not in our major, are you? Are you even from this school? How come I've never seen you on the confession wall?" The guy was extremely enthusiastic.

"Hey, Study Committee Member, what are you doing now?" A girl's teasing voice came from the front.

Chi Xingcun looked up at him. "Why would I be on the confession wall?"

The guy grinned. "With a face like yours, you'd be on that wall every day."

Chi Xingcun froze for a second. How long had it been since someone said something like that to him? Seeing no ill intent on the guy's face, he snapped back to reality.

Chi Xingcun took a deep breath, telling himself this was a new life, not like the last one.

"Thank you." Chi Xingcun gave a slight smile, then said, "You're pretty good-looking yourself."

Anyone who got stared at by someone who was more than just pretty would feel their heart skip and their face heat up.

Even if it was another guy.

The guy's ears went red.

He extended his hand toward Chi Xingcun. "Name's Chen Yudong. Let's be friends."

Chen Yudong was sunny and handsome—slightly tanned, bright-eyed, and easy to like.

Chi Xingcun shook it. "Chi Xingcun. I'm from Yuda, the school next door. Just here to sit in."

"I thought so." Chen Yudong smiled. "You're in the AI program too?"

Chi Xingcun shook his head. "I'm a bio major. Just curious about this stuff."

Yuke's AI program was one of the best in the world.

As they chatted, another guy squeezed in next to Chi Xingcun and joined the conversation.

Every class has those friendly, outgoing types—it's pretty normal.

Before long, the professor came in, and everyone stopped chatting and focused on class.

Chi Xingcun wasn't the studying type—he was a kid so spoiled and carried by his family that he never really understood what effort meant.

Except in high school, when he put in the only real effort of his life to get into the same college as Fu Chenzhan.

In his senior year, he basically stopped going to class. His family hired the best tutors for every subject to teach him at home.

Everything they covered was geared toward the college entrance exam.

With all the drilling, practice problems, and memorization, the exam felt as easy to Chi Xingcun as a practice test.

So he unexpectedly got into the top school.

His scores just weren't good enough to get into the same major as Fu Chenzhan.

Fu Chenzhan was in finance, and Chi Xingcun ended up in bio—his second choice.

In his past life, he never cared about his studies in college either. He slept through every class, skipped all the time, and relied on tutors when exams came around.

But since his family was loaded, any missing credits or GPA points could always be fixed.

That's why the teachers and classmates didn't like him much.

But in this life, Chi Xingcun couldn't be like that anymore, because he now knew he wasn't the real young master—he'd eventually go back to his actual family.

A family that was suffocating, dark, and gave him no support.

He had to work hard and get good grades so he'd have a shot at a decent job after graduation.

Even though Chi Xingcun hadn't come to this class willingly, he still wanted to try to learn something—but the more he listened, the sleepier he got.

Near the end of class, Chen Yudong turned to look—Chi Xingcun was slumped over the desk, face buried in his arms, dead asleep.

That fair, stunning face—anyone who saw it would be in a better mood.

After class, a few classmates crowded around Chen Yudong to ask about Chi Xingcun.

Chen Yudong smirked and pushed them away. "You guys are never this eager to make friends."

"We're all classmates now. Chen Yudong, what's your deal—trying to hog the contact info?"

Just then, Chi Xingcun woke up. He lifted his head, his beautiful eyes hazy and sleepy, making the few people in front of him freeze for a second before they scrambled back to their seats.

Chi Xingcun had no idea, and he looked up to see Xie Yean returning from outside, with a Band-Aid on the bridge of his nose and a brown tint at the corner of his mouth.

Chi Xingcun was somewhat surprised. He remembered that Xie Yean's nose bridge hadn't been bleeding, but his mouth had. Yet clearly, his mouth had been dabbed with iodine, but there was no Band-Aid on it.

The Band-Aid he was wearing wasn't an ordinary one—it was a light pink one with a Snoopy pattern. As a result, Xie Yean's cold, handsome look now had a hint of cuteness.

Seeing Chi Xingcun staring at Xie Yean, Chen Yudong spoke up:

"His name is Xie Yean, he's the top student in our major, but..."

Chi Xingcun roughly knew what he was about to say and turned to look at him. Chen Yudong, thinking he was curious, leaned in and whispered, "His family situation isn't great. I heard he's not his parents' biological child—his biological father was a murderer, and that's why his mother gave him to his current parents. You know, this kind of thing could be genetic, though it's not certain. But his personality is indeed very withdrawn, and we all don't dare talk to him much..."

In the book, this rumor was fabricated and spread by someone jealous of Xie Yean.

The rumor spread quickly and became widely known. Coupled with Xie Yean's genuinely cold demeanor and the chilling look in his eyes when he stared at people, he was gradually ostracized over time, and some even bullied him.

In the storyline, it wasn't until Xie Yean's true identity was exposed that those who had ostracized him, bullied him, and spread rumors got a harsh slap in the face.

After that, more and more people tried to curry favor with him instead.

Chi Xingcun guessed that this arrangement was just the usual plot device of...
