Chapter 52: Post Something Good to Look At

Chapter 52: Time to Share the Good Stuff

The next day, to the sound of music, all the teachers and students gathered on the vast playground.

Four huge screens were suspended above the playground, ensuring that students could see the competition no matter where they were.

After the opening ceremony concluded, all classes returned to their designated spots in an orderly manner.

Chi Xingcun's class was seated in the southeast corner of the playground.

He sat at the front of his class, with Qin Liyi right beside him.

His frame was so slender that he barely took up any space in the chair, while Qin Liyi's big frame meant his legs were pressed up against Chi Xingcun's thighs.

The December weather was just right.

Qin Liyi poked a straw through the milk tea lid and handed it to Chi Xingcun.

Chi Xingcun took a few sips and handed it back to Qin Liyi. "Too sweet."

Qin Liyi then unscrewed a bottle of water for him, then took the straw Chi Xingcun had bitten into his mouth.

Chi Xingcun drank some water to wash away the sweetness.

"Go, go, go!"

Several morning events had their classmates competing, and the students jumped up, cheering excitedly.

Chi Xingcun joined in the cheering.

He was amazed at his classmates—they could keep yelling nonstop, but he ran out of steam after just a few shouts.

Qin Liyi tugged at him: "Don't keep shouting, or you'll lose your voice."

Chi Xingcun turned to look at him, his eyes sparkling, clearly thrilled.

Why was he so happy? His young master, of all people?

What hadn't his young master seen before? Why get so excited over a school sports meet?

Qin Liyi was happy for him, but something felt heavy in his chest. He didn't know why—he'd never been so easily bothered before.

Soon, it was Fu Chenzhan's turn. He took first place in the high jump.

Fu Chenzhan was very popular at school. When he stepped up, the whole playground erupted, everyone chanting his name.

The high jump area was far from Chi Xingcun's class, so they could only watch on the screens.

Fu Chenzhan completed his jump in one fluid motion, landing with a calm expression, not a single hair out of place.

"Gross—he even puts hair gel in for a competition?" Qin Liyi wrinkled his nose in disgust.

"Who are you talking about?" Chi Xingcun asked, having overheard him.

"No one." Qin Liyi didn't want his young master wasting any thought on that lunatic.

During the break, Chi Xingcun suddenly turned into a social butterfly. He was a little shy but still went up to chat with a few classmates he was close with.

"Hey, can you guys help me vote for someone?"

"Who?" the classmates asked eagerly.

"This one, this one." He opened his phone and showed them Xie Yean's name and photo.

"Done~" The classmates all voted too, showing him their screens.

Qin Liyi stayed in his seat, looking up at his young master in the middle of the crowd, half annoyed, half amused—

Isn't he just the cutest?

How does he come up with this stuff?

Did he come to the sports meet just to get votes for Xie Yean?

Little troublemaker.

He was right here, and he was out there hustling votes for Xie Yean.

"Ohh~ Xingcun, isn't this your distant cousin?" The girl speaking was the one who'd come up to them at the cafeteria before—the class study committee member. She used to dislike Chi Xingcun, but now they'd gotten pretty close.

"Yeah, that's him," Chi Xingcun said.

"Since he's your cousin, we'll definitely vote for him. If he gets famous, he can put our school on the map! Hahaha." The girl said it cheerfully, without a hint of awkwardness.

"Awesome!"

The class monitor, after finishing his stuff, was also dragged into voting twice by Chi Xingcun.

Xue Tianye watched—how cute, he's actually into celebrities?

Oh, so that was the friend who came to school before... The classmates all assumed they were related by blood, so he let it slide.

Lunch break during the sports meet was only an hour.

Everyone, athletes and spectators alike, went to eat. The competition resumed right after.

With so many parents around, the cafeteria was way more crowded than usual.

Qin Liyi had wanted to order in, but Chi Xingcun said he wanted to eat at the cafeteria, so he didn't. Though Chi Xingcun hadn't expected this many people.

They finally made it through the line, and a whole group filled up a table.

"You two a thing or something?" A guy leaned in and whispered to Qin Liyi.

Qin Liyi was basically attached to Chi Xingcun's hip every day—hard not to wonder.

The second they spoke, Chi Xingcun blinked those big eyes of his and looked over.

Qin Liyi glanced at Chi Xingcun, who was staring right back, so he couldn't answer.

Dating? Him and his young master?

How could that be? But it didn't seem totally out of the question...

But how would two guys even date?

The guy leaned in again: "I'll send you something good."

His phone buzzed, and when Qin Liyi opened it, an explicit thumbnail was right there in full view.

Qin Liyi shot him a disgusted look and said, "Scram."

He turned and sent a message to his personal hacker under the table:

"Send me twenty gay flicks."

The "typing..." indicator stayed up for a while before finally coming through—

"Damn, did you get hacked? Who the hell would dare hack you?"

Qin Liyi was done with it and shoved his phone back into his pocket.

No one could actually hack into his account; the hacker was just talking trash—he'd still send the videos anyway.

The students had come in early that morning without bringing any snacks, so at lunchtime they hit the convenience store and stocked up.

As a result, Chi Xingcun sat down that afternoon to find his seat piled high with snacks.

Qin Liyi had already sent over a big bag that morning, and he'd just finished handing it all out when it was refilled by afternoon.

In the evening, the group hit a street-side barbecue joint for dinner.

After eating, they headed back to school to walk around but bumped into Chi Xingcun's parents on the path by the little woods.

"Son." Chi Xingcun's mom stared at him, looking like she was about to cry.

"Wow, are those your parents?" the classmates asked.

Chi Xingcun didn't move. He'd nearly forgotten the parents who'd been in his life for twenty years.

Chi Xingcun's parents strolled over with poise, greeting the classmates.

Their refined, striking looks and demeanor made it impossible not to stare.

It was the first time any of them had seen Chi Xingcun's parents.

"We texted you, but you didn't answer. Your father and I thought we'd stroll around your school, stretch our legs, and maybe bump into you."

Chi Xingcun's mom gently cupped his cheek.

"Want to take a walk with Mom and Dad?"

After saying goodbye to his classmates, Chi Xingcun walked along the narrow path with his parents.

Qin Liyi trailed five meters behind, hands in his pockets, face blank, eyes fixed on them.

Leaves were falling here, and the golden path, rustling with leaves, was as pretty as a picture.

"Your father and I were worried you might be having trouble at school, but now it seems you're happier than before—you've made more friends."

Chi Xingcun's mom's tone was very gentle.

Of course, they had also checked—Chi Xingcun hadn't experienced any bullying or anything like that at school. Everything looked totally normal.
