Chapter 374: Green Peach Grove (6)

“So a direct assault really is the better option.” Fabiana said sharply. “I’m going to eliminate all these aristocratic scum.”

“Don’t forget, you’re an aristocrat, and so am I. There are good people among nobles too.” Samimi said.

“That’s why I specifically said aristocratic scum.” Fabiana replied in a low voice.

“You just don’t get it. This isn’t about good people versus bad people. As long as the aristocracy exists, this kind of thing will never be eradicated. We just need to focus on our own goals and not bother with all that messy stuff.” Samimi said with a smile.

Gradually, the slave caravan arrived at the gates of Green Peach Grove.

Solid brick walls surrounded the area, with numerous slave knights patrolling nearby. Strict inspections were required before entry.

Professional female slave knights came to examine the slaves, ensuring there were no issues—after all, these were meant to be sent in to “serve” the big shots.

However, Samimi and Fabiana easily passed the inspection, carrying no weapons on them.

But the female slave knight stared at the ruby ring on Niubao’s hand for a long time, uncertain whether it counted as a weapon.

“It’s just an accessory. The big shots like this sort of thing.” the high-level slave trader explained from the side.

“Go on in.” the female slave knight said, allowing them passage.

Inside the walls, one luxurious manor after another sprawled out. There were no ordinary residential buildings—only more walled-off areas concealing mysterious zones.

Samimi and Fabiana couldn’t gather much useful information; they could only vaguely make out that those manors seemed to be hosting activities not meant for public eyes.

Their batch of new slaves was sent to an unfinished mansion, where rows of dormitories served as staff quarters.

A heavily made-up woman approached the caravan and began scrutinizing the slaves one by one.

“This batch is really good quality.”

When she spotted Samimi and Fabiana, her eyes lit up immediately.

The slave trader and the madam of Green Peach Grove began haggling, but the latter didn’t dally for long. She bought all the slaves at a high price, appearing quite eager.

“Get out! Everyone out!” the slave trader opened the cage, and the slaves were herded out one by one.

Incidentally, Samimi and her two companions had their hands cuffed and were linked together by a chain, like a string of chicks, making escape impossible.

The three stood in a row, but they stood out from the other slaves.

The other young slaves trembled in fear, filled with uncertainty and terror for the future. They were clearly not low-grade goods snatched from some mine, but well-born, untouched maidens.

Yet Samimi and Fabiana remained calm, their expressions unchanged. One radiated righteous spirit, the other an ominous aura—their presence was too strong for slaves.

As for Niubao, she was dozing off—she usually slept at this time.

The madam could tell at a glance that these two came from distinguished backgrounds, and the big shots loved nothing more than untamed young women like this, because breaking them was so much more “fun.”

“There’s a big scene happening tonight. Perfect timing. Heaven is on my side.”

“Sister Miao, we’ll be going now.” the high-level slave trader said.

“It’s getting late. You can stay for the night.” the madam offered.

“No need. We lowlifes wouldn’t want to disturb the big shots’ entertainment. We’re heading back to town to have some fun.” The slave trader pocketed the money and cheerfully left Green Peach Grove with his men.

A female slave knight tugged on the chain, leading all the slaves deeper into the manor.

“Everyone, follow me.” the madam said with authority.

However, Samimi and Fabiana were separately locked in a guest room as a temporary holding.

“Damn it, Niubao was taken away from us.” Fabiana whispered.

“We were taken away.” Samimi corrected.

“We’ve been separated, so we can’t get our gear from Niubao.” Fabiana frowned.

“I’m a magic user; I can cast spells without equipment. And you’re not a knight anymore—you’re a necromancer. Besides, you never used that armor or golden sword much anyway.” Samimi shrugged, showing no concern.

“I’m not a necromancer. Please call me a spirit knight.” Fabiana corrected seriously.

Meanwhile, Niubao and the other slaves were locked in a cage, all huddled together like little hamsters. She found a comfortable spot and went back to sleep.

What was there to say? They came here to carry out a mission, and yet someone managed to fall asleep in the middle of it.

Let’s just say Niubao had a peculiar trait—whenever she stopped doing anything and settled down, she got drowsy.

“It looks like we’re getting special treatment. Why?” Fabiana asked.

“It must be because of our clothes.” Samimi replied.

“These people are completely lawless!” Fabiana fumed. “So what do we do next?”

“Take it one step at a time. If Veronica doesn’t send further instructions, we’ll just start a battle.” Samimi answered. “For now, let’s observe and wait.”

Meanwhile, on the other side…

The high-level slave trader had pocketed a huge sum of money and, along with several slave knights, was driving the empty slave wagons back to town.

But as they traveled, a boomerang knife suddenly flew out of the darkness, decapitating the driver of the first wagon in an instant.

The caravan came to an abrupt halt.

“Ambush! Ah!” The knight captain barely cried out before a weapon from an unknown direction pierced his throat, sending him tumbling from his horse.

The other knights squinted and saw that he’d been hit by a sharpened bamboo spear. Blood gushed like a fountain—he was beyond saving.

“What are you doing? Find the enemy! Did I hire you just to eat?” the high-level slave trader screamed in panic.

But more bamboo spears flew from the forest, and the slave knights couldn’t see their foe or hear any sounds. The attacks seemed to materialize out of thin air, impossible to defend against.

In mere moments, nine more knights fell.

Only then did everyone realize something was wrong. Fear spread rapidly, but by then, escape was impossible.

When the knight count was reduced to single digits, a dark figure emerged from the forest.

She moved with ghostlike grace and began a massacre with a blade technique like a storm. With each strike, her knives precisely pierced the gaps in the knights’ armor.

In one pass, all the slave knights were slain, leaving only the high-level slave trader.

“It’s… you? Are you trying to double-cross me? Take the money, just don’t kill me!” He stared in terror at the newcomer.

It was the purple-haired girl who had just sold him the slaves.

“Going after weaklings really suits me.” Veronica said, gripping her twin bloodthirsty blades with a look of satisfaction.

The pent-up frustration from this period finally found release in that moment.

“Cole Morris, a slave trader who forces innocents into slavery, even slaughtering entire families to steal women. Didn’t expect to run into you here. Too bad I don’t have time to bring your head back for the mission right now.” Veronica said coldly.

“You’re not in the same trade… You’re from Black Street…” The slave trader’s face turned pale.

Before he could finish, a thrown dagger pierced his skull.

Veronica quickly cleaned up the scene, stacking all the corpses onto one wagon and driving it into the forest to dispose of them.

She tidied up the other wagon and hid it at the forest’s edge, preparing it for a future escape to extract her teammates.

After securing her escape route, she slipped back into Green Peach Grove, swiftly infiltrated the interior, gathered intelligence, located her teammates’ positions, and sought a chance to make contact with them from within.
