Chapter 392: Round Table Meeting (Part 5)
“You’ve come up with some new spells again?”
“Haha, I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist trying them out. Let me see what…”
Shirley William scanned Samimi’s magic formula from midair. It was truly an eye-opener, and at the same time, deeply confusing. She couldn’t understand this abstract, heaven-defying magic at all.
Before, Samimi’s Double Shield had stunned everyone. Now she could already manifest Multiple Shields, casting Magic Shields on an entire squad. It was terrifying.
Ever since the day the Lion King was defeated by Samimi, Shirley William had considered Samimi her lifelong rival.
She had been watching from the sidelines back then. This woman must be the natural enemy of elemental mages. Her Briar Magic could erode all natural elements.
Although Shirley William knew that Briar Magic was also a type of elemental magic—the long-lost [Wood] element.
Now she understood why this element had been lost.
It was because it countered other elements too strongly. It was very likely that mages from other factions had joined forces to eradicate it.
Now, seeing this, she realized it wasn’t just a rivalry. This woman was the mortal enemy of all elemental mages.
“I, Shirley William, represent the last glory of elemental magic. I must restore the honor of the Elemental Factions. Heretic Leader, come fight me!”
Shirley William rode the clouds in midair, summoning countless Wind Blades that rained down from the sky in a precise carpet strike.
Many knights were easily torn apart. Only those protected by Magic Shields could barely withstand the dense onslaught of Wind Blades.
“Crazy woman.” Samimi gritted her teeth in anger.
This woman was one of the few ruthless individuals who had mastered Flight Magic. She was far stronger than the White-haired Witch Bemore.
She didn’t need armor; her attacks were omnipresent.
Wind Magic was flexible and versatile, making it extremely troublesome to deal with.
To be honest, her own Briar Magic was a very clunky, positional magic formula. It was like an immobile defensive fortress, waiting for the enemy to attack. One hit, and they wouldn’t even get a word out.
But that didn’t matter. Shirley William could still be dealt with. She wasn’t so strong that she was unbeatable.
So the real problem was still the two top-tier martial artists invited by the other nobles.
The West Coast Fighting God—a Dwarf. Need I say more about his credentials? This man could be considered the final humanoid boss of the West Coast.
His one-on-one combat strength was equal to the Hero Sword Saint. It was basically impossible to defeat the Fighting God in single combat, and his endurance was definitely far superior to that paper tiger, the Hero Sword Saint.
Thus, the Fighting God’s overall combat power was comparable to Magic Sword Red, with no weaknesses.
But if it were just one Fighting God, we could still handle it.
We could use the same tactics as we did against Magic Sword Red: wear him down with a rotation of fighters.
The problem was that there was more than one Fighting God.
Where did Marquis Edward dig up that Bow Beggar guy? That man could pierce right through her Thorn Magic Shield with just a bamboo stick.
She had activated her five-hundred Goodness Value [King of Thorns] and Multiple Magic Shields, and then immediately some guy who could ignore Magic Shields popped out.
Wasn’t this just deliberately embarrassing her?
She had fought tooth and nail to accumulate five hundred Goodness Value and unlock that skill, only for it to become obsolete already?
If the Human Race had this many powerful experts, how could they have been overrun by the Abyss?
Something wasn’t right. Very not right. It was eerie. Too eerie.
Samimi’s mind churned rapidly. The Transmigrator’s radar buzzed.
The Fighting God being the final boss of the West Coast region was a reasonable existence.
But that middle-aged Bow Beggar guy was an irrational existence.
It was like the Church’s Papal Left Hand and Right Eye joining forces to attack—absolutely unstoppable.
So the plot design definitely wouldn’t allow experts of this caliber to team up.
That didn’t make sense. How were others supposed to play?
This was where the problem lay.
Generally, when this happened, it meant they had triggered some kind of mechanism.
The Fighting God and the Bow Beggar were here to protect the Three Great Lords. Their target was to kill the Three Great Lords.
In other words, this situation absolutely wouldn’t let them kill the Three Great Lords.
Their assassination attempt had triggered some kind of protection mechanism. The World Will was determined to keep the Three Great Lords alive, because they surely still had a major role to play later.
This was like playing a game—especially one of those open-world games where you can kill anyone. But suddenly, there’s an NPC you can’t kill. That means this character still has future plot relevance.
This person cannot be killed. Killing them would affect the game’s progression. So the World Will makes this NPC invincible.
Although our Otherworld wasn’t as domineering as a game world, the World Will had still sent experts to protect the Three Great Lords, denying them the chance to force-kill.
And besides the two super experts—the Fighting God and the Bow Beggar—there was also a lunatic like Shirley William. Not to mention the Ghost Assassin Leader hiding in the shadows.
If they chose to force an attack, they would be completely annihilated.
In that case…
“Retreat! Fabiana, fall back immediately!” Samimi made a snap decision and issued the order.
The enemy who had killed her parents and mother was right before her eyes. How could it be so easy to retreat?
Niubao would definitely obey orders, but calling Fabiana back wouldn’t be so easy.
“Fall back?”
Fabiana just clicked her tongue, but she did retreat. She stopped fighting the Bow Beggar guy.
And as long as they had no will to fight, the middle-aged Bow Beggar wouldn’t pursue either.
He would only protect his boss, not attack them proactively. He just stood there on idle.
This perfectly matched Samimi’s assumption: as long as they didn’t attack, they wouldn’t trigger the mysterious expert’s protection mechanism.
Even the West Coast Fighting God didn’t want to pursue.
He might be a brute, but he wasn’t stupid.
These nine Saints were exceedingly sinister, highly bizarre. No one knew what those Skeleton Knights really were.
That blonde Nun’s support and magic were also extremely troublesome.
That Half-Beast who could be knocked flying with one punch from him—after receiving the Nun’s Amplification—could actually exchange a few moves with him. Very strange.
“A gentleman can wait ten years for revenge. If we want to break through this heavy protection, we’ll have to pay a terrible price.” Samimi persuaded.
“Anna, the Nun is right. Let’s go back and plan.” Knight King Char echoed.
“I understand,” Fabiana replied.
She stared coldly at the Three Great Lords behind the human wall, then turned and left.
The Dream Village was once again shrouded in darkness.
Meanwhile, Fabiana summoned all her strength to call forth more Skeleton Knights.
Dense ranks of Skeleton Knights formed a human wall, covering the Revenge Squad’s retreat. Basically, no one dared to block their way.
The withdrawal was astonishingly smooth, because all the knights chose to back off.
Of the entire Western Sea Noble Knight Force, only Shirley William had any will to fight.
“Hey, where are my teammates? Why isn’t anyone moving?”
“I can’t charge into battle all by myself as a mage, can I? After all, I’m just a Magic Advisor!”
