Chapter 395: Knight Academy City (Part 2)
Chapter 395: Knight Academy City (Part 2)
“Once the Dilmurt family is uprooted, the next step will be pointing the sword at the Royal City and the Church. The kingdom’s civil war will fully erupt,” Veronica analyzed.
“Civil war in the kingdom…”
Even Samimi hadn’t thought that far.
But listening to the assassin lady’s analysis, Samimi found it made a lot of sense.
Because logically, the current timeline is the Abyssal Invasion.
Yet the Abyss had already been crippled by her own team, unable to create any major incidents for at least the next three years.
So with this missing plot, what should the United Kingdom do?
Naturally, they’d tear each other apart!
That’s what we humans love to do best!
“Despite sounding like a joke, it actually holds water,” Samimi said with a bitter smile.
“Do you have any money? I’ll go back to Black Street and see if I can convince everyone to help,” Veronica offered.
“No money. We don’t bleed the common folk dry. You can see from this city—we have no military funds,” Samimi continued grimacing.
“This is really troublesome. War is about who burns more money,” Veronica analyzed.
“Naive. Does having money make you invincible? In a war of our scale, it’s about who has more experts,” Samimi snorted.
“Who’s naive? The side with money can hire more experts, can’t they?” Veronica countered.
“Well…”
The assassin lady’s words were so logical that even the silver-tongued Miworm found no comeback.
“Remember the mage you dealt with last time? I investigated him too. That guy came from a mysterious top-tier mercenary organization called the Order of Compassion. All members are Fallen Mages. There are at least five more like him.” Veronica glanced at the nondescript Black Samimi beside her, focusing on the pitch-black magic staff in her hand.
“You’ve been traveling with us the whole time—how did you gather so much intel?” Samimi asked, puzzled.
“Black Street has the most advanced intelligence network and special communication methods known only to insiders,” Veronica snorted.
“Right now, enemy eyes are everywhere outside. Only one route is safe. You have smuggling channels connecting the West Sea and the Central Continent. I need you to help deliver a letter.”
Samimi’s tone suddenly turned serious as she pulled an ordinary-looking letter from her bosom.
“I can do it, but I can’t guarantee it’ll reach its destination.” Veronica took it and shook it—something inside felt like a badge.
“Even though we bicker every day, I’m still grateful for your help,” Samimi thanked without any hint of gratitude.
“Don’t creep me out. You’re the one who always bosses people around. I hope next time I see you, it’s not hanging from the city gates as a witch.” Veronica sneered.
With that, the assassin lady left the Knight Academy City first to deliver the letter.
News had already spread outside: the West Sea Allied Army was coming to crush the House of Baron Dilmont.
Staying in the Knight Academy City now was basically a death sentence.
Knight King Char wouldn’t restrict anyone’s freedom to leave either.
Stay or go—it was up to each person.
However, several days passed, and aside from Veronica who went to deliver the letter, not a single one of the 300 warriors of the Giant Whale Knights retreated. They all stayed, standing together with the old man and the young girl of the Dilmurt family.
Too bad this isn’t Thermopylae.
Though the terrain was easy to defend and hard to attack, guarding a city with 300 people was still too much.
The old man was already a dog with a broken spine, nothing but a set of collapsing old bones, his combat strength severely degraded.
It was uncertain whether he could even defeat a Great Knight Captain, let alone fight freaks like the God of Fight or the Former Hero.
So in the end, it all came down to the three of us in the Revenge Squad.
Since there was nothing else to do, Samimi immediately threw herself into researching and developing her Doppelganger, Black Samimi.
The last time she used it in combat at the Knight Feast, the effect was a bit subtle.
Black Samimi spent almost the entire time on standby watching and didn’t have much of a performance.
Because her own Thorn Technique could already do Multi Casting, which overlapped with Black Samimi’s basic capability.
If she had initially been limited to single-cast magic, the Doppelganger would certainly be powerful.
But both her Thorn Crown and King of Thorns magic had already unlocked Multi Casting.
She needed to develop other more unique tactics.
That said, she still had no good ideas at the moment.
“Whoosh! Fwoosh! Fwoosh! Fwoosh!”
With no alternative, Samimi and Black Samimi went to the Knight Training Field and started firing energetically at each other.
Magic Slash versus Magic Slash, the same person fighting themselves, practicing against themselves.
She hoped that in combat, inspiration would strike, and also this would improve her control over the Doppelganger.
Actually, the most serious problem with the Doppelganger wasn’t the overlap with Thorn Crown’s attributes, but her lack of mental strength.
In daydreams, everything was beautiful; in actual combat, it was a mess. She simply couldn’t multitask.
A mage was originally a stationary turret job that required full concentration.
Why stationary?
Because her brain capacity wasn’t enough.
Did she think she didn’t want to run around and rain magic on the enemy?
And Samimi already considered herself the most mobile mage out there, with maxed-out mental strength, yet she still struggled to split her focus.
Samimi recalled the Fallen Mage she had killed.
Oh, right—Niubao finished him off.
That move—a high-level Fire Magic called [World-Destroying]—required chanting for a good while, full of openings.
But the effect was indeed impressive, with terrifying power, forcing Samimi to activate her Domain Magic to withstand it.
The reason high-level magic had always been criticized was that by the time you finished chanting, the enemy would be long gone.
Only fellow mages would stupidly wait for you to finish chanting, because they wanted to see your magic formula.
If it were any other class, they’d have already chopped the mage into pieces.
Low-level magic combos forming magic formula routines were not weaker than high-level spells—this was the basic consensus among all mages.
The issue with low-level magic formula routines was that they were rather complex to execute.
Ding!
Samimi thought of a good idea!
Was there any spell that didn’t require much brainpower or operation, easy to cast, yet had astonishing power?
Or…
So now the biggest problem was that she really felt the need to stuff an intelligent AI into Black Samimi’s brain so she could assist autonomously in combat.
Now she had a Doppelganger.
She could have the Doppelganger stay in the back chanting high-level magic while she herself guarded the front, buying time for the chant.
This way, the pain point of high-level magic would be eliminated!
Chanting a spell only required giving a simple command—no micro-managing, no positioning, no combos, and not too much mental drain.
Her main body could use complex and diverse magic formula routines, while the Doppelganger acted as a super turret in the back, unleashing simple and straightforward high-level spells.
