Chapter 430: The Battle to Defend the Water City (Part 6)
Both of them had those grim, unfathomable looks.
And they were both incredibly good-looking—probably even Samimi and Sashafa couldn’t compare.
Gaining power made a girl less girlish, and Count Feiling and the Little Aunt were ordinary people. Even if they were nobles, they were still just commoners.
In this world, if you didn’t have strength yourself, you couldn’t accomplish anything.
But that was getting off track. What needed to be solved now was the father-daughter problem.
The mastermind behind it all had to be someone with real power, or a monster. The current situation in the West Sea perfectly demonstrated that even great nobles were helpless against true strength.
The atmosphere was so tense because Samimi hadn’t figured out what to say yet.
She didn’t want to admit she was this man’s daughter.
But she had to find a way to make her father her dog without actually acknowledging their relationship.
She could only think harder, rely on strong rhetoric to break the deadlock.
First, she needed to let herself build up some emotion…
“Nun, do you know the Feiling sisters? Are they doing well?”
Light Wiggou asked.
“Lady Feiling is a friend of Knight King Char. Lady Feiling and Knight King Char told me about you, and Knight King Char admires your swordsmanship. You’re his idol—he recognized you at the Round Table Meeting.”
Samimi said.
“That’s quite an honor. Now I’m just a wandering mercenary.”
Light Wiggou smiled bitterly.
“Fabiana’s parents were killed by assassins sent by nobles. Someone stole her name to start a rebel army.”
Samimi briefly explained.
“That’s a real shame. But like I said, I’m just a wandering mercenary. That has nothing to do with me. I won’t help if there’s no money, and don’t expect me to help if it’s too dangerous. I just want to live out my old age in peace.”
Light Wiggou brushed it off.
“Do you remember the black-haired female holy practitioner sitting at the Round Table Meeting?”
Samimi asked.
“No, I don’t recall. I think there was someone like that.”
Light Wiggou said.
“Her name is Samimi Feiling.”
Samimi said seriously.
“?”
Light Wiggou didn’t catch on at first, but his brow gradually furrowed.
“Isn’t Samimi Feiling the name of that young archbishop who’s been making such a stir lately?”
The girls huddled in the corner all recognized that name.
“Have them leave first.”
Samimi glanced at the girls.
“Out, out, all of you.”
The two Divine Emperor Knights who stayed behind to protect the mysterious veiled nun immediately drove all the girls out and closed the door, but they stayed themselves to watch the drama.
“That’s right—the youngest cardinal archbishop in history, who handles everything personally, Lady Samimi. She led the temporary seal on the Abyss of the Southern Tree Sea. And now that an ominous sign has appeared in the West Sea, she disguised herself as a battle priest to gather intel here. But you can’t always handle the water without getting your feet wet…”
Samimi continued to fabricate the story in a calm tone.
“What do you mean by that?”
Light Wiggou suddenly grew agitated, sat up straight, and asked loudly.
“In the previous battle defending Knight Academy City, Archbishop Samimi discovered the true mastermind behind the disturbance in the West Sea. It’s a group of vampires—enemies of the human race. After seventy years, they’ve come back.”
Samimi explained.
“Vampires?”
Light Wiggou looked shocked.
The two Divine Emperor Knight bodyguards weren’t too surprised—they already knew.
“Vampires, also known as the Blood Clan. But that’s just our human term for them. Actually, vampires only have families, not a race. Each family fights for itself and is hostile to the others. It’s precisely because the Blood Clan is internally divided and can never unite that humanity has a chance to catch its breath.”
“The Blood Clan Progenitor has already been sealed. Not long ago, Archbishop Mimi personally reinforced the seal on the Blood Empress. The purebloods should have died out long ago.”
“Humanity has always researched the power of the Blood Clan—after all, the allure of immortality is too great.”
“But our enemy now isn’t ordinary vampires. The Vampire Progenitor is already sealed, and Archbishop Mimi personally reinforced that seal not long ago.”
“These are artificial vampires—what people commonly call necromancers. Some great nobles and great lords couldn’t resist the temptation of eternal youth and became pawns of the necromancers.”
“The rebel army was a setup orchestrated by them. Their whole goal was to lure Grand Archbishop Mimi into a trap.”
Samimi launched into a long explanation.
This wasn’t a lie. Everything she told her cheap father was solid intel.
“I don’t want to hear your story. Get to the point. What happened to Samimi Feiling?”
Light Wiggou pressed.
“Archbishop Mimi fell into an enemy ambush. The necromancers used a Blood Clan sacred artifact to seal her.”
“Archbishop Mimi could defeat even the Blood Empress and possesses the Holy Flame Power that vampires fear. So once they defeated Archbishop Mimi, the artificial vampires could march east and invade the entire territory of the United Kingdom.”
Samimi answered.
After hearing this, Light Wiggou slumped back onto the stool.
“Kubo, you must have figured it out by now. Samimi Feiling is your daughter.”
Samimi said.
“Even though she never met her father growing up, she took on the mission you, as the hero, were supposed to carry out—saving the world.”
“What do you want?”
Light Wiggou asked.
“Nothing. We’re just informing you. Our mission is to rescue Archbishop Mimi. She’s the only weapon capable of fighting the artificial vampires.”
“We never expected you, the runaway hero, to do anything. We just ask that you don’t get in the way. We just hope you won’t be a hindrance when the time comes.”
“Lady Mimi already knew you existed at the Round Table Meeting, but she never asked you for help. Because no one expects anything from a drunkard father, a runaway hero.”
Samimi replied mercilessly.
“Drunkard father” this, “runaway hero” that—it made Light Wiggou’s face flush.
He might look careless and indifferent, but the more someone seems not to care about something, the more they actually do.
Even the Divine Emperor Knights looked at him with contempt.
Samimi had once been a man too.
No one understands men better than me.
If she had asked nicely, this cheap father might not have helped.
But berating him as worthless and using provocation to goad him—that was a sure bet.
“Keep drinking. I won’t disturb your fun. I’ve already paid.”
“Don’t bother paying the money back, but don’t let me see you near Lord Marquis again.”
Samimi arrogantly pulled out a few silver coins and tossed them on the floor.
That was all her pocket money.
It hurt, but she still had to act cold and ruthless.
With that, she left with the two Divine Emperor Knights, ignoring the cheap father inside.
Let that useless waste drink himself to death in there.
Light Wiggou sat there like a burned-out candle, not moving for a long time.
