Chapter 5: Lying on the Same Bed
Chapter 5: Lying on the Same Bed
Chapter 5: Sharing a Bed
When Lu Hechi heard that, the smugness in his eyes was impossible to hide.
"I'm really that impressive?"
"So does that mean I'm rich now?"
Shen Lanxue: "..."
He and Lu Hechi had gotten married for business reasons from the start, and as the eldest son of the Lu Group, Lu Hechi was naturally wealthy.
So he nodded and said, "Mm-hmm."
Lu Hechi was lost in the daydream of his sudden fortune, seeing nothing but golden glimmers every time he blinked.
Shen Lanxue looked at his expression and couldn't help the corners of his eyes crinkling into a smile.
Lu Hechi snapped out of it, unconsciously staring at his smiling face. His Adam's apple bobbed, and as realization hit, he turned his head away, his lashes fluttering.
His heart was racing a little too fast.
Time slipped by quietly, and before they knew it, the sky outside had darkened.
The fluorescent light in the hospital room cast a bright glow over the small space.
Shen Lanxue sat on the visitor's chair, his head drooping bit by bit, only to jerk awake and straighten his back.
Lu Hechi listened to the noise outside the ward and watched him look so drowsy, two little figures battling inside his head.
The white one said, "Look how tired he is—just let him get in bed with you!"
The black one shot back, "How can you do that? You've only known each other for a day, and now you're sharing a bed? That's way too shameless!"
The white one argued, "You just lost your memory—it's not like you've never done it before. What's wrong with sharing a bed?!"
The black one shot back, "But I don't remember any of it."
The white one huffed, "You've already had a kid together! Why are you being so picky about this? Get him on the bed! Get him on the bed!"
The black one puffed up: "No! He can't get on the bed!"
White: "Get him on the bed!"
Black: "He can't get on the bed!"
Lu Hechi shook the little figures out of his head, propped himself up, and scooted over to make room, saying:
"...Bro, come sleep up here."
The drowsiness in Shen Lanxue's eyes faded a little: "No need. You're injured; you need your rest."
Lu Hechi thought about how Shen Lanxue was staying just to keep him company, and yet he, out of his own shyness, would let the man sit on a chair all night. That just didn't sit right with him.
Lu Hechi insisted, "Bro, come up. I hurt my right arm, so it's fine if I'm on the inside. If you don't come up, I'll worry about you all night and won't be able to sleep."
Shen Lanxue's heart skipped a beat.
He hesitated for a moment, but this time he didn't say no.
Shen Lanxue lowered his lashes and said just one word, softly: "Okay."
He took off his shoes and got into bed fully clothed.
The hospital room's single bed was tiny, and fitting two grown men meant they had to press tightly against each other.
Lu Hechi felt the warmth coming off the man beside him, and his heartbeat sounded way too loud in the quiet room.
He took a deep breath and used his left hand to pull the blanket over Shen Lanxue.
It was March, and the night breeze was cold.
If he didn't cover up properly, he'd easily catch a chill the next day.
The room was quiet for four or five seconds, then Lu Hechi stared at the ceiling and said, "Bro, move in a little. There's still plenty of space on my side."
Half of Shen Lanxue's body was hanging off the bed, held up only by his head and arm.
He didn't say anything, just silently shifted inward a couple of inches.
Two seconds went by.
Lu Hechi spoke up again: "...Bro, a little more."
Shen Lanxue's fingers twitched, and he hesitated for a few seconds as Lu Hechi kept urging him. He let out a breath and scooted in further.
They were too close now—their heads were nearly touching, and they could hear each other's breathing clearly.
The room went completely quiet.
All he could smell was that cold fir scent of Shen Lanxue's.
Lu Hechi opened his mouth: "Bro..."
Shen Lanxue quickly cut him off: "That's enough. No need to move in any closer."
Hearing that, Lu Hechi's shyness suddenly vanished, and he even wanted to tease him a bit more.
He deliberately slipped his hand through the gap at his neck, grabbed his left shoulder, and with a slight pull, forced the man to lean over, his head landing on Lu Hechi's chest.
Lu Hechi lowered his head and said in a low voice, "Bro, we've already had a kid together. Why are you still so shy?"
Shen Lanxue pushed himself up from his chest, moved back onto the pillow, and turned his back to him.
"You... you're still hurt."
"Is that the only reason?" Lu Hechi asked.
Shen Lanxue's lashes fluttered. "Yes."
"Oh." Lu Hechi didn't say anything else.
He started wondering how he and Shen Lanxue had gotten along before he lost his memory.
They already had a kid together, so of course they'd done *that* kind of thing, yet Shen Lanxue was just lying on his chest, his face and neck so red.
When he had sex with him, would his whole body turn red?
His skin was so pale, like snow—if it turned that red, what would it look like?
Lu Hechi couldn't stop his mind from wandering.
He suddenly remembered watching a movie during evening study in his sophomore year with Chen Jiadong, where the protagonist had very pale skin, and when kissed, red flowers would appear on his body.
The more Lu Hechi thought, the hotter he got.
He threw the blanket off, and his face flushed uncontrollably.
If he kept this up, he really wouldn't get any sleep tonight.
Lu Hechi asked: "Brother, are you asleep yet?"
Shen Lanxue had been in the visitor's chair earlier, so tired he could've dozed off sitting up, but now that he was in bed, all that sleepiness had vanished.
All his attention was on the body behind him.
He could sense even the slightest movement.
When Shen Lanxue heard him speak, the warm breath he let out hit the back of his neck, tickling like a feather.
He answered softly: "Not yet, is something the matter?"
