Chapter 111 Framing Others, Asking for Trouble
Chapter 111 Framing Others, Asking for Trouble
Chapter 111: Framing and Reaping What You Sow
Wang Sheng fumed, "Zhu Mian, cut the crap! I never stole a single silver from the cloth shop!"
He knew it had to be Zhu Mian setting him up.
The guy, relying on being the boss's own nephew, was always going against him. Wang Sheng had no idea how he'd even pissed off Zhu Mian.
Zhu Mian sneered, "I saw it with my own eyes. How could it be fake?"
He loved seeing Wang Sheng hate him but be powerless.
Back when Wang Sheng was ugly with red bumps all over his face, he could still have fun mocking him.
But now, Wang Sheng had just signed up for some medical contest, and when he came back, the red bumps on his face had miraculously vanished.
This really pissed Zhu Mian off.
Now that Wang Sheng was good-looking, that made Zhu Mian the ugliest in the shop.
What's more, every day lots of girls came to the shop not to buy fabric, but to see Wang Sheng in person and check out the effects of that facial cleanser and acne cream.
Over time, Wang Sheng, who even dogs used to avoid, turned into the star of the shop. This made Zhu Mian green with envy, and he swore he'd find a way to ruin Wang Sheng and get him kicked out.
Ji Yuntang didn't miss the smug smile on Zhu Mian's lips—the classic look of a thief crying "thief."
Ji Yuntang was sure Zhu Mian had something to do with the theft.
She raised an eyebrow. "Oh? So your 'evidence' is just your word? You can make up anything?"
"Tell you what, I have a pill that can tell if you're lying."
"If you're telling the truth, I'll pay you five times the silver. But if you're lying, you'll kneel down, slap yourself thirty times, and kowtow to Wang Sheng until he forgives you. You game?"
Zhu Mian looked at the black pill and sneered inwardly.
Is this chick crazy?
A pill to scare him? Did she think he was a kid?
"What's there to be afraid of? Deal: if I'm not lying, Wang Sheng packs his stuff and gets the hell out of my uncle's shop today."
Ji Yuntang turned to Wang Sheng to see his reaction. He gritted his teeth and said firmly, "Fine, I'm in."
He'd already made up his mind: whether he cleared his name or not, he wasn't staying at this shop anymore.
He was poor, but he had dignity. Staying where he wasn't trusted would only break his heart.
Seeing Wang Sheng agree, Zhu Mian was thrilled. He grabbed the pill from Ji Yuntang and swallowed it whole.
Soon, something happened that left everyone dumbfounded.
Zhu Mian suddenly staggered a few steps, like he'd drunk bad booze, and started jabbering while pointing at Boss Zhu.
"Zhu Shun, my dear uncle, you're fat and ugly, like a toad in the field. You know, seeing your round face like a steamed bun every day makes me sick. You smile at me every day, forcing me to study and do accounts. Don't you know I hate studying?"
"Just seeing your yellow teeth makes me lose my appetite. But I have to act all obedient and please you, just because you're rich."
"If you weren't nice to me and giving me money to spend, I'd have left long ago. Who wants to be bossed around by you? It's only because I've got my eyes on your money."
Boss Zhu nearly coughed up blood hearing that.
Zhu Mian lost his parents young, and since Boss Zhu couldn't have kids of his own, he took Zhu Mian in and raised him like a son.
Even without Zhu Mian saying it, Boss Zhu had planned to leave everything to him when he died.
He never expected this little bastard to spill his true thoughts so soon. Only then did he realize Zhu Mian's politeness was all fake.
He kept calling him "uncle," but all he wanted was his money and property.
If he hadn't heard it himself, Boss Zhu would never have believed that the nephew he had cherished for over a decade was such a heartless ingrate.
Before Boss Zhu could lose his temper, Zhu Mian staggered over to Wang Sheng and sneered mockingly,
"Wang Sheng, you fool! What's the use of slaving away for Zhu Shun every day? Can the two taels of silver he gives you each month even buy you a set of clothes or a decent meal?"
"Don't think that just because your face has cleared up, you're something special. Every day, so many girls hover around you. I asked you to secretly take some silver from the accounts for me, and you refused. Fine, then I'll make sure you lose this job."
"My uncle hates thieves the most. You probably don't know this yet, but those twenty taels of silver were taken by me. Offend me, and I'll make sure you're ruined. I want my uncle to beat you to death—"
Before he could finish, a loud slap landed on Zhu Mian's face. Boss Zhu roared at him furiously,
"Zhu Mian, you beast! Do you even know what you're saying?"
Zhu Mian was stunned by the slap. He blinked, looking at Boss Zhu in confusion.
"Uncle, why did you hit me?"
What had he just said? Why couldn't he remember anything?
And why were the people around him looking at him so strangely?
As if he had done something unforgivable?
"Zhu Mian, are you still pretending? I raised you like my own son, and all you wanted was my money. You even cursed me out in front of everyone. You ungrateful wretch! Today, I'll teach you a lesson on behalf of your parents!"
Boss Zhu raised his hand to slap him again, but Ji Yuntang's cold voice rang out.
"Boss Zhu, I won't stop you from disciplining Zhu Mian, but first, he must apologize to Wang Sheng!"
Boss Zhu's raised hand paused mid-air, unsure whether to bring it down or not.
He looked at Zhu Mian, who was kneeling on the ground, trembling like a leaf. The bond of family affection in his heart seemed to snap like a blade cutting through a rope, shattering his heart into pieces.
Being stabbed in the back by the person closest to him—this feeling was truly unbearable.
Still, he had to thank Ji Yuntang. Without her intervention, he would have remained in the dark about Zhu Mian's act, and his assets might have been schemed away without him even knowing.
Boss Zhu felt a mix of frustration and disappointment. He finally lowered his hand, not even glancing at Zhu Mian again, and turned his back.
"He made a mistake, and he deserves punishment. Princess Ye, please do as you see fit."
Seeing Boss Zhu's resolute back, Zhu Mian panicked and shouted after him, "Uncle, aren't you going to take care of me anymore?"
All he got in return was a sigh of disappointment.
