Chapter 177 Framing Others
Chapter 177 Framing Others
Chapter 177: Setting Someone Up
Tian Shi: "???"
She was dumbfounded, thinking she misheard.
"Sis, what the hell are you talking about? It was Princess Ye who hurt us! Instead of having our backs and getting revenge, you come here babbling nonsense. My Xuan'er hasn't done anything to your son!"
Anger flashed across Chai Rufeng's face as he chucked the two books right at Chai Jingxuan's face.
"You're saying your son did nothing? Then what about these books?"
"Just ask him what stupid thing he pulled today. He knew damn well Hao'er wasn't allowed to read, yet he deliberately sent him books, making Hao'er try to kill himself by slitting his wrists. And now you've got the guts to ask us to go after Princess Ye for your son? If it weren't for Princess Ye, my son might have already died!"
Chai Ruyu: "..."
Tian Shi: "..."
Chai Rufeng's words stunned them.
What else had gone down that they didn't know?
They finally got that Chai Rufeng and his wife were here to settle scores, not back them up.
Chai Ruyu frowned, glared at Chai Jingxuan groaning in bed, and demanded.
"Spill it—what's with these books?"
Chai Jingxuan was scared shitless.
A month ago, Madam Chai ordered that no books go into the kid's room, saying any reading would make him worse.
Chai Jingxuan didn't buy it. He thought she was blowing things out of proportion.
How could reading a book kill Chai Minghao?
He was set on proving her wrong, so on a whim he grabbed two books and sent them over.
He never thought he'd land in such deep shit in just one afternoon.
Could two books really drive Chai Minghao to off himself?
Chai Jingxuan's lips went tight, his hands shaking under the covers.
He knew for sure he couldn't admit this now, no way.
If he copped to hurting his cousin on purpose, he'd kiss his cushy life in the Chai family goodbye.
So Chai Jingxuan put on a pitiful act and started crying foul.
"Dad, Mom, I swear I didn't send them! Aunt banned books from his room—I wouldn't dare! Someone's setting me up."
"The minute Princess Ye showed up, my cousin had an accident. It's gotta be her! She's mad I hit her maid, so she's using my cousin to frame me. I'm being set up, Uncle!"
After his sob story, Chai Jingxuan thought he was a genius.
His excuse seemed bulletproof at first—Ji Yuntang framed him out of spite.
Little did he know, Ji Yuntang was right outside the door and heard it all.
"Clap, clap, clap!"
She clapped and walked in smirking at Chai Jingxuan.
"What was that? I framed your cousin because I'm holding a grudge? Seriously?"
Chai Jingxuan was stunned by her icy stare, then got pissed.
"Isn't it true? If you've got the balls to do it, why not own up?"
Ji Yuntang laughed coldly. "You peacock, you brain-dead or what? Were you dropped on your head as a baby? How else could you spout such garbage?"
"I'm his doctor. If I wanted to hurt him, I wouldn't have saved his life in the competition or told his mom he's got a psychological fear of books and can't read."
"Besides, I had people with me the whole time. We didn't even get into the room until at least fifteen minutes after he tried to off himself."
"I've got no beef with the kid. Why would I risk his life to get you? You really think a girly-looking clown like you is worth my time?"
Chai Jingxuan: "..."
Chai Jingxuan: "!!!"
It was the first time he had been scolded to his face by a woman, and he couldn't deny he was furious.
"Maybe you bribed one of his servants. You made him try to kill himself, then played the hero to win my uncle's thanks. I've seen plenty of fake, greedy women like you. You think I can't see through your games?"
Ji Yuntang shot him a look like he was an idiot, then turned and said coolly, "Fine, don't admit it. Squire Chai, Madam Chai, just call the cops. Let them trace where these books came from. Then we'll see if I did it or someone's playing the victim when they're the crook."
"But if they find out I had nothing to do with it, then framing a princess is a death sentence. Let's see if your mouth is harder than the executioner's axe!"
Chai Jingxuan: "!!!"
Chai Jingxuan froze, his back drenched in cold sweat.
The thought of losing his head made his skin crawl and he shivered.
He whimpered, "No, please don't call the cops..."
"Uncle, Auntie, please don't! I'm too young to die!"
Ji Yuntang smirked. "So you admit it?"
"Yeah, I sent them," he stammered, terrified. "But I had no idea he'd react like that and try to kill himself."
"If I'd known, I wouldn't have risked it for anything!"
The second Chai Jingxuan finished, Chai Ruyu slapped him across the face, his face contorted with fury.
"You little bastard! How could you be so stupid? Minghao's your cousin! He's already sick, and you still gave him books? Were you trying to kill him?"
He slapped him twice more, then dropped to his knees, looking guilty as hell.
"Bro, sis-in-law, this is all on us for not raising him right. He hurt Minghao. Please, for the family's sake and since it's his first screw-up, have mercy and don't report him. He's my only son—if he dies, how can your old brother and I live?"
Madam Chai sneered inwardly. "So because he's your only son, he can harm my son, is that it?"
