Chapter 537: A Drastic Change in Temperament
Chapter 537: A Drastic Change in Temperament
Chapter 537: A Complete Personality Change
Hua Feixue lowered her eyes, her expression turning grim. "I did go check. Many of the Taoist priests said that after their senior brother returned from a preaching trip, his personality changed completely. He began locking himself in his room and barely spoke."
"Sometimes when they went to seek guidance from Master Lingxi on Daoist arts, he'd brush them off. In fact, he'd even fly into a rage and kick those junior brothers out."
"They said the previous Master Lingxi had a great temper, would help them with just about anything. Every time they met, he'd be all smiles and never once told them to get lost."
"But after that incident, he became extremely irritable and rarely came down the mountain. Some said something must have happened during the three months he was away that caused his complete personality change."
"But if you ask me, he's not the original Master Lingxi at all—he's Jiang Yanfan wearing a different face."
Ji Yuntang: "!!!"
That guess caught her completely off guard.
But if Hua Feixue was bold enough to say that, he must have gotten his hands on some proof that the National Preceptor was Jiang Yanfan.
The Old Witch had a kid with Jiang Yanfan, so she definitely wouldn't want him sticking around Cao Shi.
Faking his death let him cut ties with the Jiang family, and the face swap gave him a clean identity to stay by Empress Dowager Yuan's side.
But that made the guy look like a total scumbag!
Jiang Yanfan could've just divorced his wife, but no.
Instead, he chose to abandon his elderly parents, dump his two kids under a year old on his wife, and saddle her with the whole Jiang family burden, while he ran off to hook up with the Old Witch and raise his bastard kid on the side.
Even worse, to satisfy their selfish desires, he killed the kind and respected Master Lingxi.
A heartless bastard like that deserves to die ten thousand times over.
Anger flared up in Ji Yuntang. What she hated most in this world were two-faced, scheming men.
Making a woman pop out his kids and carry all the weight—what a piece of trash.
A guy like that had to be publicly shamed and ruined before he died. Only then would it feel like justice!
With that thought, Ji Yuntang asked Hua Feixue, "Got any ideas on how to expose that fake National Preceptor at the heir-appointment ceremony tomorrow?"
Hua Feixue arched an eyebrow lazily, his voice low. "Honestly, I already sent a letter to his wife. Whether we can expose him depends on if his wife shows up tomorrow."
Xie Liuzheng frowned. "You think Madam Cao will buy that?"
He wasn't so sure about that.
A husband who's been dead and gone for seventeen years suddenly showing up alive, and with a kid from another woman, no less. And all of them right here in the capital.
Who the hell would believe that?
Ji Yuntang's smile flickered for a second before returning to normal.
"As a woman, I think she'll believe it. Nobody would joke about something like that."
"And even if she doesn't believe it, coming to check won't cost her anything, right?"
Hua Feixue gave Ji Yuntang an approving look and said, "Princess Ye's right. When Jiang Yanfan fell off that cliff and his body was never found, Grand Marshal Yuan told them he'd probably been dragged off by wild animals. The officials just swept the case under the rug. But Madam Cao never stopped looking for him."
"You might not believe this, but she searched for him even longer than the Old Witch searched for me. She's always believed deep down that he's still alive."
"So I figure she won't let any lead slip by."
"But when the truth comes out, it's gonna hit her hard."
Ji Yuntang looked at them and said in a low voice, "Madam Cao's a good woman. She didn't do anything wrong, and she deserves to know the truth."
"She needs to see it with her own eyes to realize what kind of man the husband she's loved all these years really is."
The three of them were hashing out a careful plan when, just then, Ji Yuntang heard a "ding" in her head.
With a thought, a DNA test report appeared on the table before the three of them the next second.
Xie Liuzheng was startled. Before he could even blink, several sheets of white paper had materialized out of thin air in front of him.
But Ji Yuntang and Hua Feixue looked completely accustomed to it, as if it were nothing out of the ordinary.
Xie Liuzheng looked at the two of them with a scrutinizing gaze and asked, "Are you two hiding something from this Heir?"
Just as he finished speaking, Xie Liuzheng felt his vision go dark and a dizziness wash over his mind.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a completely different place.
Pure white walls, lights as bright as daylight, and all sorts of strange ornaments.
"Where has this Heir been brought to?"
In his panic, Xie Liuzheng began slapping the walls everywhere looking for an exit, when suddenly he heard a soft chuckle by his ear.
He turned his head and saw Ji Yuntang and Hua Feixue standing behind him, smiling at him.
He was utterly bewildered. "Sister Yuntang, do you two know what this place is?"
Ji Yuntang nodded. "Yes, this is my space."
"Space?" Xie Liuzheng's mind went blank, clearly not having processed it yet.
Ji Yuntang continued, "Brother, you must have been curious about how I know so many things. That's because I'm not the real Ji Yuntang, but a person from the future world."
Xie Liuzheng: "..."
Xie Liuzheng: "!!!"
His eyes bulged wide, and he let out a piercing shriek.
"What? The future world?"
Ji Yuntang said with a smile, "Simply put, it's a soul traveling from one time and space to another."
"The original Ji Yuntang was killed by the people of the Marquis Yongning estate. My soul attached itself to her body and lived on in her place."
"And the place you're standing in now is my all-purpose space. Everything in it was brought here by me from the future world—things that don't exist in your world."
Xie Liuzheng staggered back and plopped down onto the sofa behind him, utterly incredulous.
A staunch atheist like him felt his beliefs shaken to the core this time.
Traveling through time and space, soul possession, the future world, an all-purpose space.
In the past, he wouldn't have dared to even think about those four terms.
But now, these mystical things were happening right before his very eyes, and on his most admired sister no less. Xie Liuzheng had no choice but to believe it.
After a long while, he finally found his voice and gave Ji Yuntang a thumbs up.
"Sister Yuntang, you truly are no ordinary person."
