Chapter 78 Ji Yuntang’s Beauty Restored
Chapter 78: Ji Yuntang Gets Her Looks Back
Chen Hu held the clothes like they were a treasure.
In truth, as servants, what really got them wasn’t that she bought them new clothes, but that she thought of them over little things like this.
Ji Yuntang went to Yaoniang’s room and handed her the clothes she’d bought for her, plus the kids’ clothes for Xiao Qiyue.
“I picked these up for you while shopping today. These two are for Xiao Qiyue, and here’s some diapers and a bottle for the baby.”
She explained how to use the diapers and bottle step by step.
Yaoniang was shocked and flustered. “Princess, these are way too precious. I can’t take them. We’re already so grateful you took in me and Qiyue.”
“Besides, I haven’t even done anything for you since I got to the Night Prince’s mansion. How can I take gifts from you?”
Ji Yuntang’s tone didn’t leave any room for arguing. “Just take them. Get your health back. I’ll have stuff for you to do later. Think of these clothes, diapers, and bottle as my welcome gift for Qiyue. Raising a kid alone isn’t easy—you gotta think about the kid’s needs too.”
Yaoniang was touched. Her lips trembled, and she dropped to her knees with a thud. “Thank you, Princess. I’ll keep your words in mind.”
After that, Ji Yuntang went to check on Luo Junhe and set the new clothes on the bed.
“A He, I got you two new outfits today—one white and one dark blue. What color do you like best?”
Luo Junhe couldn’t see, but he totally trusted Ji Yuntang’s taste. A faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “As long as A Tang bought them, I love them all.”
Ji Yuntang smiled, her voice light and cheerful. “I’ll hang them up for now. You can wear them when you’re better.”
“Okay, I’ll do what you say,” Luo Junhe said.
*
The next morning at dawn, Ji Yuntang got up early to work out in the courtyard. She had two thirty-pound iron weights strapped to her legs and ran circles around the yard.
Ji Baiyi wagged his tail and followed her around, like he was cheering her on.
Yaoniang, holding Qiyue, asked Tao Zhi, confused, “Miss Tao Zhi, what’s the Princess doing?”
Tao Zhi was long used to Ji Yuntang’s workout routine. She smiled and said, “Our Princess is exercising. She runs a hundred laps around the yard every morning.”
Yaoniang’s jaw dropped. She’d never seen anyone train like that.
Even as a princess, Ji Yuntang worked so hard—it was really impressive.
After finishing the hundred laps, Ji Yuntang was soaked in sweat. Figuring it was almost time to head to the palace, she stopped.
Tao Zhi came over to help her take off the iron weights. “Princess, the bathwater’s ready, and breakfast is set. Do you want to eat first or bathe first?”
“Bathe first. I feel all sticky and gross.”
After bathing and grabbing a light breakfast, Tao Zhi began helping her dress and do her makeup.
Tao Zhi was thrilled to see the dark spots on Ji Yuntang’s face were gone. Her skin was now smooth as silk and white as snow.
“Princess, the spots on your face are gone! You look gorgeous!”
It was like a dusty piece of jade, cleaned up to show its brightest side.
Ji Yuntang touched her face. The woman in the mirror was elegant and otherworldly, carrying an air of lightness. Her lips were naturally red, her brows naturally dark, and her fox-like eyes shimmered with charm, like a new moon’s glow or snow on flowering trees—stunning and unmatched.
Ji Yuntang was happy with how she looked. She parted her red lips and said, “It seems my herbal masks over this period haven’t been in vain.”
“Maybe Heaven wants you to dazzle everyone at today’s palace banquet. I’ll definitely give you a stunning makeup look today,” Tao Zhi said excitedly. Ji Yuntang’s recovery made her happier than receiving new clothes herself.
Ji Yuntang shook her head and stopped her.
“Just a light makeup. I don’t want to become the center of attention.”
Becoming the center of attention meant inviting trouble. She didn’t want to attend this banquet at all, but Consort Li had repeatedly insisted she come.
Ji Yuntang wondered what Consort Li was up to.
“Yes, Princess. I understand.”
Tao Zhi complied and quickly applied a light makeup for Ji Yuntang. Following her instructions, she styled her hair simply and inserted two cloud-phoenix patterned gold hairpins.
“You’ll accompany me into the palace. Stay alert at all times.”
“Yes, Princess.”
Ji Yuntang took Tao Zhi and boarded the carriage to the palace.
When they arrived, a row of carriages was already parked outside the palace gates.
Ji Yuntang presented her invitation to the guards, and a palace maid immediately came to escort them inside.
The palace banquet was held at a place called Plum Grove within the palace.
Though called Plum Grove, it was filled with various rare flowers and trees, surrounded by a dozen pavilions for the noble sons and daughters to rest.
The maid curtsied. “Princess Ye, the banquet will begin in about two quarters of an hour. Please rest here for a while.”
Ji Yuntang nodded and said to Tao Zhi, “Let’s go find a quiet spot to wait.”
She led Tao Zhi to an empty pavilion. The table inside was laden with fresh fruits and hot tea.
She poured a cup and took a sip. The tea was fragrant, leaving a lingering sweetness.
Ji Yuntang praised without hesitation, “This tea is excellent.”
Suddenly, a voice full of surprise rang out behind her.
“Sister, I didn’t expect you to come! Big brother and I arrived early. Why didn’t you come say hello to us?”
Ji Yuntang turned around and, unsurprisingly, met Ji Qingqing’s frail, willow-like face, as pitiful and weak as a little white flower. She spat out the tea in her mouth.
“Pfft!”
The spray landed all over Ji Qingqing.
Ji Yuntang: “…”
“Sorry, I just couldn’t help it when I saw your face.”
She really couldn’t understand how Ji Qingqing could be so thick-skinned. After everything, she still recklessly came up to her.
Did she have a masochistic streak—uncomfortable unless she was being humiliated?
Ji Qingqing’s eyes flew open in shock, completely oblivious to being splashed with water.
Where did the dark spots on Ji Yuntang’s face go?
How did she suddenly get so beautiful?
The shock made her completely forget what she was about to say.
Just as Ji Qingqing was stunned, Ji Huaiche charged over like a leopard and pulled her behind him.
“Ji Yuntang, what are you doing? The moment I’m not around, you start bullying Qing Qing. Do you know that this dress of hers was custom-made by Mother at Fanghua Pavilion? Can you even afford to ruin it?”
