Demon King – Chapter 16 – The Demon Lord’s sleep was disturbed

The morning sunlight shone on Eiru. However, our little demon lord was still curled up under a blanket, fast asleep.

After all, the demon lord was still a young demon—it’s perfectly normal for children to sleep in. Then again, it’s not like she’s going to age anyway…

Qi Fang and his wife opened the door, peeked at the still-sleeping Eiru, before quietly closing it again, not wanting to disturb her.

“She’s sleeping really soundly…”

“She must be exhausted. Let her rest a bit longer… By the way, when is Qi Rong coming back?”

Qi Rong was the only daughter of the Qi couple, mentioned earlier—a university student studying in another city. She had recently graduated and had been busy wrapping up things at school. The couple figured she’d be back around this time.

“She didn’t say which train she’d be on, just that it’d be one of these days.” As they spoke, the doorbell suddenly rang.

“Is it Qi Rong? She’s back today?” The couple rushed to open the door. Standing there with two suitcases was their daughter.

“Mom, Dad, I’m home!” Qi Rong stepped forward and gave both of them a hug.

“Why didn’t you call ahead? Your dad could’ve picked you up.”

“Well, dear ol’ dad’s usually busy with work, right? It’s no big deal for me to come back on my own.”

Pulling her suitcases inside, Qi Rong slumped onto the couch. Traveling that far—of course she was tired.

“Now that you’ve graduated, have you been looking for a job? Do you want us to try and ask some friends?” Qi Fang’s wife poured her a glass of water, asking with concern.

“Graduated, yep… For now I’m free. As for work, I’ve already got some connections—don’t worry yourselves about it.”

“That’s good. Then just take it easy for a while…”

“Hehe, thanks Mom and Dad.”

The two smiled warmly. Their daughter might act like a child at home, but she was mature and dependable outside. She had never caused them much trouble and made them proud.

“Hmm? Why is my room door shut?” Qi Rong got up, planning to move her luggage back to her room, but found the door closed.

“Leave your luggage for later. There’s a kid sleeping in there.”

“A kid? A relative visiting or something?” The word “kid” made Qi Rong’s expression darken.

“Not a relative’s child—it’s your dad’s colleague’s friend’s kid… ugh, it’s complicated. We thought you’d be back a bit later, so we let her sleep there for a night. Your dad’s planning to drive her home today.” Seeing their daughter’s displeased look, Qi Fang’s wife hurriedly explained.

But Qi Rong wasn’t listening to any of that. The moment she heard a kid was in her room, her mind went into full panic mode—her precious collection was in danger!

Also, what kind of nonsense was “dad’s colleague’s friend’s kid”? Whatever. Since it wasn’t a relative, she wouldn’t need to tread lightly. If that brat so much as touched her collection, she’d flay the little devil.

The more Qi Rong thought about it, the more anxious she got. That cabinet was filled with limited edition figures—if anything was broken, there’d be no recovering it. No way, she had to check right now!

She jumped up, ignoring her parents’ protests, and rushed to her bedroom. She flung the door open—

First thing, she beelined to the display case to inspect her collection: no broken limbs, nothing missing, the glass wasn’t even touched. Qi Rong let out a long sigh of relief.

“muuu…” Eiru let out a small, adorable sound. Qi Rong turned to the bed and was dumbfounded.

Lying under the blanket was a certain silver-haired girl. Awakened by the commotion, she sat up, rubbed her eyes, yawned, and then— plop —collapsed back onto the bed.

Maybe she’d misjudged the kid…? Qi Rong began to feel a bit embarrassed.

Not only had her figurine cabinet been untouched, even the plushies on the bed had been neatly moved to one side. The comforter had been folded and placed next to them; the girl herself was using only a throw blanket.

“Jeez… try not to wake her up. That girl was kidnapped by human traffickers and just escaped yesterday after two days in captivity. Let her rest a bit more…” Qi Fang’s wife entered and gently scolded her daughter, nudging her back toward the door.

“Wait, Mom, I just need to grab something. I won’t wake her.”

Seeing her daughter’s insistence, she left after reminding her one last time to not bother Eiru, and went off with her husband to help unpack.

Qi Rong couldn’t shake a strange feeling of déjà vu as she stared at the girl sleeping in her bed. Once her mother left, she slowly walked over to her.

“So it really is Lu… that cosplay is way too accurate.” After comparing the sleeping girl to one of the figures in the cabinet, Qi Rong finally realized what that sense of familiarity was.

“Those cosplay props are ridiculously high quality…” Some of the details weren’t perfect, but this was easily the best cosplay she’d ever seen.

Just look at those wings, that tail, those horns—what kind of shop makes stuff this good? With gear this insane, this kid’s family must be loaded.

Such a cute little girl… Watching her sleep, Qi Rong felt her inner lolicon rising up.

Normally, she wasn’t into real-life lolis at all. Setting looks aside, most kids were just little devils—louder and more unruly than boys. She could never really like them…

But today changed her mind. Who knew that such a well-behaved, cute real-life loli could exist? And judging by how she handled someone else’s stuff, she clearly had a great personality too.

But why was she still in costume while sleeping? And Lu’s costume too… Why would anyone sleep wearing prop pieces? Doesn’t that hurt?

Her skin was flawless too… and super squishy… Watching her sleep, Qi Rong couldn’t help herself—she reached out and poked the girl’s cheek. The girl let out another adorable little “mmph”.

Even her hair was silky enough to make anyone jealous. Who was this perfect little girl? There wasn’t a single flaw on her. What kind of god-tier genes do you need to birth such an angel?

As Qi Rong continued to poke, our sleeping little demon lord suddenly retaliated. With a slightly louder “muuu-” Eiru’s tail coiled tightly around the offending hand.

“Ah?” Qi Rong froze in place.

Eiru’s eyes remained shut and her breathing was even—clearly still fast asleep. But the tail wrapped around her arm… what the heck was that?

A sudden thought popped into her head—

This girl… she might be the real deal…
