Demon King – Chapter 191 – The Demon King Back in Her Hometown Is Extraordinarily Bored
“I feel sick, I wanna throw up…” Half-crouching by the door, Eiru in her disguised state looked nauseous. Eiya was beside her, concernedly patting her older brother’s (sister’s) back.
After enduring over four hours of carsickness torture, Her Majesty the Demon King had finally returned with her family to her long-missed hometown…
Saying “long-missed” though actually wasn’t quite right. She actually returned quite often throughout the year: once for summer vacation, once for winter vacation New Year, once for Qingming Festival, etc…
Eiru’s hometown was a medium-sized rural village developing towards becoming a township. Basic infrastructures like water and electricity were relatively backwards, and most villagers still made their living primarily through farming.
The Ei Family Village is nestled between the mountains and river, and is mostly self-sufficient. There was also a small town nearby that regularly delivered food and meat to meet the townspeople’s needs, while also offering daily necessities for purchase.
Overall, although the villagers didn’t live a wealthy lifestyle, the village and town supported and complemented each other, so the surrounding residents’ lives weren’t too difficult.
Before elementary school, Eiru had spent most of her time here, living with her grandparents and uncle’s family while her parents worked away from home… Having grown up here since childhood, she was extremely familiar with the surrounding environment.
She remembered especially how much she loved sneaking off with her childhood friend to play at the small mountain behind the village or by the river…
Unlike Eiru who had deep feelings for her hometown, Eiya didn’t particularly enjoy the modest little village… Although she was somewhat used to living here, she just felt this place was unfamiliar.
It wasn’t really Eiya’s fault. Before she turned ten, Eiya had never returned to her hometown even once… Plus, being accustomed to the big city life, places with unstable water and electricity and no internet signal naturally made her uncomfortable. 1 I could survive without internet… as long as I have my phone and data :chiiunderstand:

So even after returning home after she had turned ten and onwards, except for important occasions like New Year’s Eve… Eiya spent most of her time at her grandmother’s place, from her mother’s side.
The two sisters’ maternal family was in the county town, which was incomparably more developed than this poor village… Although it was still small, it had all the essentials. While it couldn’t compare to big cities, it didn’t have any particularly backward aspects either.
Grandma hadn’t come back with Eiru’s group this time due to poor health, so she was temporarily staying at Eiru and Eiya’s aunt’s house.
Grandpa and uncle should be working in the fields and so they weren’t home. Currently only their aunt was at home bustling about entertaining the group…
Honestly, Eiru’s family was considered one of the better-off households in the village… Not even counting the three-story Western-style house in the back, there weren’t many families in the entire village that could afford the old house with its large courtyard…
Eiya helped Eiru into the backyard of the old house. After resting for quite a while, Eiru finally returned to normal.
“We’ll probably be staying for two weeks this time. How long are you going to stay here before going to grandma’s?” Finding two stools to sit on, Eiru asked about her younger sister’s plans for this return.
“I originally planned to stay for just a day or two, but now I want to stay here and accompany you… hehe~” Eiya supported herself with her hands between her legs, looking cheerful.
“Forget it, you should still go to grandma’s…” Eiru could foresee that if this unlucky girl stayed here, she’d definitely cause her a whole bunch of trouble.
“Ugh, so heartless…”

“It’s not that I’m heartless. Honestly, even if you wanted to stay here, I doubt Mom and Dad would agree…” Eiru scratched her head, denying any responsibility.
Sometimes Eiru also felt her parents might be too doting towards Eiya… Not to mention never scolding or hitting her, almost any request she had that could be fulfilled was fulfilled, as if they were afraid of slighting her in the least.
Moreover, it wasn’t just her parents; Eiru felt that almost everyone in the family maintained a strange attitude toward Eiya.
It was kind of like pity and sympathy? But also mixed with a feeling of unwillingness… But that feeling had gradually faded these past few years, and the family’s attitude towards her younger sister was becoming more normal.
Fortunately, her younger sister hadn’t turned into some weird troublemaker kid under all the doting. Although she was still somewhat willful and capricious, overall she still knew how to be considerate… though sometimes her train of thought was truly confusing at times.
“How about you come with me to grandma’s house? If I talk to Mom and Dad, they won’t refuse…” Having recently become addicted to her new loli sister, Eiya complained that without her sister around, life would be much less enjoyable.
“Although I’d love to slack off 2 omg slacker demon king!!! Roll credits. It’s all over now. over there with you, you know my reputation… There are too many people at grandma’s house. I don’t want to live under those kinds of looks all day.” Eiru spread her hands, showing that she didn’t want to go there and suffer under the cold stares. Although conditions here were worse, at least life was relatively relaxed and pleasant…
“Alright… But I think Dad will send me to grandma’s tonight. Ah, life without being able to absorb my Eiruium are going to be so hard…” Eiya pounced over to hug Eiru, her face full of reluctance…
“Be normal! Let go! The stool’s going to fall over!”

——Time Flew By——
The outcome was pretty much as Eiya expected; only that the timing was moved up a bit… Not long after lunch time, Eiya, who was hiding in the storage room, was caught by Eiyuan and sent to their grandma’s house in the county town…
With her younger sister gone now, the little demon king who had returned to her true form lay by the window in the small villa’s third-floor room, staring blankly at the distant farmland…
Honestly, after being so close with Eiya lately, her sudden departure left the little demon king a little uncomfortable.
She really didn’t want to interact with the people downstairs… Whether it was her grandpa or uncle, in Eiru’s eyes they were rather stern people.
When she was little, Eiru had been terrified of them and basically avoided them as much as possible. Throughout her childhood, she was mostly only close to her grandmother.
Later when her grandma’s health had declined and she was sent to Huanghai City for recuperation, Eiru generally only returned home during the Lunar New Year… And now that grandpa was also getting old, all the family’s farmland was managed entirely by her eldest uncle’s family.
However, Eiru’s grandpa was also someone who could never sit still. If he wasn’t doing something, he’d feel restless… Accustomed to a lifetime of hard work, he’d try to help out in the fields whenever he could.
“So boring…” With her tail swishing behind her, Her Majesty the Demon King inadvertently glanced at another household not far away—the home of her childhood friend.
“Wonder if that bastard Stupid Qi has returned from abroad yet. I haven’t seen him in so long…” Muttering about her childhood friend, the little demon king let out a sigh as she gazed at the large, two-story house.

Like herself, he had also gone to elementary school in Huanghai City… Before meeting Yuki in middle school, this childhood friend named Hui Jiaqi was Eiru’s only friend.
However, as soon as elementary school ended, this childhood friend was sent abroad by his family to study. Since then, although they occasionally kept in touch, it was rare for them to see each other even during holidays.
“Forget it, forget it. He doesn’t even come back for New Year, so how could I possibly see him during summer vacation…” Averting her gaze, the little demon king jumped down from her chair.
“Maybe I should go check out our ‘old haunts’?” Stretching, Eiru made a decision.
Because she was afraid of being discovered, Eiru couldn’t possibly sleep here to pass time… Rather than just sitting around bored, wouldn’t it be better to go out and wander around looking for some fun?
Translator Note
Hoi it’s Tsubaki. I’ve murdered your beloved little schmickle pickle to make some tartar sauce to go along with my deep fried shrimp, and as such, I’ve also stolen his novel mwahahahaha!!! (I’m just joking, he literally just came into VC while I was playing games and was like, “Hey Tsubaki, can you take slacker demon king” so I’ll be TLing this for at least a month or so while he figures out his uni workload)
I’ll try to build back up some backlog/premium chapters before hopefully returning the upload rate back to 2 chapters a day. Thanks for reading!! (And shameless self plug, check out my other straight TS romance novels, also on this site, “I got caught in my childhood friend’s spell and turned into a girl!” and “Miss Fox Isn’t Your Childhood Friend!”)
