Demon King – Chapter 24 – The Demon Lord’s Life Plan

In the afternoon, Eiru’s aunt and uncle arrived with their toddler daughter, who had just learned to walk. That night, the little demon lord was promptly kicked out of her room and spent the night curled up on the living room sofa with a blanket.

The alarm she’d set on her new phone went off, and Eiru reached out from the couch to silence it.

It was four in the morning… Yawning, the groggy demon lord slowly stood up from the sofa. After making sure that she hadn’t woken anyone else up, she tiptoed to the bathroom.

Since everyone else had work or school, they would be waking up early. Eiru needed to get up first so that she wasn’t discovered.

She brushed her teeth and washed her face at lightning speed, then headed to the storage room, grabbed a bag of mini bread rolls, and returned to the couch and nibbled on them.

While munching on the rolls, Eiru thought about how her new routine would go. Now that she was going to live on campus, she had to be even more careful. The first issue: her future roommates…

Actually, it wouldn’t be too bad. She rarely went to class anyway and usually spent her time sunbathing on the school rooftop. With a dorm now, she could probably sunbathe on the balcony while everyone else was in class.

The real problem was nighttime. If she fell asleep or passed out, her transformation would cancel. Imagine waking up to find a little girl on your roommate’s bed, and the boy himself nowhere to be seen… Yeah, not ideal.

But Eiru wasn’t unprepared. She’d already asked Yuki to order her a bed curtain set and support rods for her dorm bed.

Surprisingly, the facilities at Seventh High weren’t bad. Yuki was a boarding student too, so Eiru had gotten the chance to visit before.

Each dorm housed four students, not too spacious but functional, with AC and a fan. It even had a balcony and a private bathroom with a toilet. The beds were dorm-style lofts—desk and cabinet on the bottom, bed on top.

“I wonder who I’ll end up rooming with…” she muttered to herself, already worried about getting along with her new dormmates.

She’d seen enough online horror stories of roommates at war, and now that it was her turn to move in, she was getting nervous.

Her male appearance was just a disguise—her strength and physical stats were still very much that of her true loli form. She was in no shape for a brawl…

And given her reputation, she doubted her future roommates would be easy to get along with.

“If only I could room with Yuki…” she sighed, slumping over the table, her wings and tail drooping behind her, lost in anxiety about the future.

After finishing up some mobile game dailies, Eiru noticed movement in the house.

She quickly shifted back into her male form just in time to see her younger sister, Eiya, walk out of her room.

“Yo, you’re up early for once. What, the sofa too comfy to sleep in?” she teased, surprised to find her brother already awake.

“Oh please, Lady Eiya up so early? Must’ve slept on a magical mattress that’s just as comfy as the couch,” Eiru snapped back without hesitation.

Eiya ignored her and headed straight to the bathroom. This was their usual sibling dynamic—occasional bickering that never escalated.

“Eiru’s up already?” came the voice of Eiru’s father. “You packed last night, right? Check again. Once Eiya finishes her breakfast, I’ll drive you both to school.”

“Okay…” Eiru replied without energy.

After breakfast, Eiru grabbed her things, ready to head out. With Eiya busy tying her shoes at the moment, their father asked Eiru to help carry her bag.

“You’re so useless… Can’t even lift my bag,” Eiya mocked, yanking her bag out of her brother’s hands after seeing him struggling.

Seriously? Her brother was this weak? Sure, she had a lot of books, but it shouldn’t be that heavy. He must’ve been faking it to get out of helping. Her expression was filled with disdain.

Their father glanced at Eiru and shook his head. He, too, assumed Eiru was pretending to struggle just to avoid helping his sister.

Unaware that her stock had just plummeted further in both their eyes, Eiru genuinely found the bag heavy. Wasn’t this a middle schooler’s bag? Why was it so absurdly heavy? Were all overachievers all carrying around small libraries?

In the car, Eiru began planning out what her life would be like. For her safety, her parents had forbidden her from working part-time. They agreed to give her a 1,000 yuan monthly allowance.

But Eiru hadn’t actually quit her job at the bubble tea shop. A little extra income never hurt. She’d just check in at class, then vanish to sunbathe and recharge her mana…

There was no kitchen in the dorm, so she wouldn’t be able to cook. For meals, she’d head to her apartment in the evenings and finish off the food in her fridge. If she didn’t have time for lunch, then she’d have to go to the student cafeteria.

In the afternoon, she’d blend in with the day students and slip out. Once her shift ended at the bubble tea shop, she’d head back to the dorm before curfew. Easy.
