Demon King – Chapter 26 – The Demon Lord Returns to School

After resting for a bit, the little demon lord got to work—making the bed, putting away her belongings… She had a lot of experience living alone, so she finished everything quickly.

Now all she had to do was wait for a certain someone to get out of class and deliver the curtain and frame set. After locking up her drawers and closet, Eiru pocketed the keys and stepped out of the dorm room, planning to swing by her rental unit and pick up some of her original form’s clothes.

Using magic to black out the surveillance cameras along the way, Eiru ran up to the roof of their dorm building, intending on flying all the way back.

Meanwhile, at Experimental Middle School’s junior high division, Eiya had just finished a class and was lazily playing with her pen at her desk.

Unlike her brother, who played the part of a delinquent, Eiya was the classic “golden child.” Top marks, good at sports, and eye-catching looks—she was well-liked and got along with her classmates. With the sole exception of her dear brother, she was friendly and pleasant to everyone.

Thinking about her older brother made her sigh. As his sister, she knew full well that he wasn’t some hopeless idiot with an inability to learn. She didn’t understand why, so she defaulted to assuming he had fallen in with the wrong crowd and just didn’t want to study anymore.

After their parents had all but given up on Eiru, all their hopes had been pinned on her. The weight of their expectations was crushing. Had she not been both smart and a quick learner, it might have broken her already.

There was no way that she could say she didn’t have a grudge against her brother. She genuinely wanted him to do well, which is why she had always been trying to push her brother by being rude.

Lately, though, Eiya had started to suspect something else—namely, that her brother might have some… problematic interests.

Neighbors at Eiru’s rental had mentioned him frequently bringing over a very young-sounding girl. At first, Eiya didn’t believe them. Her brother might be a lot of things, but surely he wasn’t that bad, right?

That belief shattered a few days ago, when she went with their parents to pick Eiru up. While Eiru was out, Eiya had been in his room using the computer. She accidentally knocked his bouncy ball into his wardrobe and, while retrieving it, discovered something disturbing.

Inside the wardrobe was a pile of girls’ clothing.

“He’s into cross-dressing?” she had thought. Out of curiosity, she rummaged a bit more—only to find that the clothes weren’t even his size. They were clearly meant for someone the size of a little girl.

Confused and alarmed, she dug deeper and found hidden compartments full of girls’ undergarments and socks.

Like a bolt of lightning, the realization hit her. Were the rumors true? Was her brother really a creep?

She carefully returned everything to what it was, but didn’t tell their parents—partly out of denial, and partly because if she did, Eiru would probably end up in a hospital.

Since then, she had been subtly probing him with references to little girls, trying to gauge his reactions. So far, he hadn’t shown any. But something still felt off—his scent, his mannerisms… they were increasingly childlike and feminine.

All signs pointed to something being seriously wrong. She needed to confront him about it soon—before it was too late.

Back on Eiru’s end, since she would be spending most of her time at school now, with someone occasionally coming to clean her rental unit, she’d decided to move all of her original form’s clothes and shoes to the dorm to avoid any awkward discoveries.

She left her computer behind, of course. No matter how lax the school was, there was no way they’d allow high schoolers to keep a full desktop PC. Just sneaking in a phone was already a hassle.

She hung her male clothing on the outside racks and stashed her original clothes inside a locked cabinet drawer she had brought herself. Underwear, socks—all tucked away.

Surveying her work, Eiru nodded with satisfaction, then headed for a much-needed shower.

After washing up, the little demon lord sat at the edge of the bed, humming softly, kicking her feet in the air as she waited both for her hair to dry and for her school’s afternoon break to meet her new roommates.

“It’s about time…” she muttered, pulling out her phone to message Yuki her dorm room and bed number.

As soon as she sent it, Eiru looked around—and noticed something odd.

On the bed next to hers were some familiar-looking curtain components…

“Black-out curtains. Thick. Non-transparent. Must be a single-panel entry. Don’t screw it up, Yuki, or I’ll skin you and use you as the curtain—got it?”

Remembering her stern instructions from earlier, Eiru stared blankly at the curtain kit spread out on the neighboring bed.

“Black, one-way panel… No way…” The setup matched her specifications exactly.

A sneaking suspicion began to take shape.
