“No way, no way! What are the odds…” Eiru chuckled awkwardly as she glanced at her phone—just in time to see Yuki’s reply.

“I know. I’m in the bed next to yours. I’m at the cafeteria now. I’ll bring the dorm bros over later to meet you. The stuff you asked for is on my bed—you can start setting it up if you see it.”

It really is you! The demon lord nearly dropped her phone out of shock, barely catching it in time.

She exhaled in relief. A fall from the two-meter-high loft bed would’ve been the end of her phone for sure.

In this dorm room layout, each side had two beds with a walkway in between leading from the entrance to the balcony. Beds on the same side were foot-to-foot and shared a ladder.

Eiru’s bed was the one closest to the door, with Yuki’s next to hers, right by the balcony.

Putting her phone on the pillow, the demon lord scooted over to the foot of the bed and began assembling the curtains on the bed next to hers…

Had anyone walked in right then, they’d have seen a truly surreal sight:

A silver-haired, elementary-school-sized loli, crouched over on a boy’s dorm bed, with sagging wings and swaying tail, fiddling with a black curtain rod.

“Just one more latch… okay, done.” She clapped her hands together, pulled on the curtain’s flap, and gave a satisfied nod.

“But something feels off… wait—what? This isn’t my bed!” The realization struck her like lightning. She’d accidentally set everything up on Yuki’s bed.

Glancing at the time, she figured the others would be finishing their lunch soon and possibly on their way back. In a panic, Eiru scrambled to tear everything down. In the chaos, several metal pieces clattered to the floor with a loud clang! that echoed throughout the dorm.

After a frantic flurry, the demon lord finally reassembled the curtains on her own bed—just in time.

To prevent anyone from stumbling in while she slept and seeing her real form, Eiru had specifically requested one-way curtain access.

The ladder was at the foot of the bed, so she installed the entrance flap there. Once pulled shut, it could only be opened from the head of the bed—meaning unless someone could fly, they’d have no way to peek in without waking her up. Anyone barging in forcefully would make enough noise to alert her.

“Mhmhmhm, perfect. Now I can sleep worry-free.” She swayed her head, happily sitting in her little “blackout fort”, humming a little tune.

“Eiru, open up!” Knock knock knock! The sudden pounding on the door startled Eiru so badly she almost fell.

Outside, Yuki waited with a bag in hand. He heard a loud thump—probably her jumping off the bed.

“Hold on, let me finish this—two minutes!” came the response from inside.

“Hurry up… I brought food.”

“On it…” Crouched on the floor, hand pressed against her throat, the demon lord used magic to shift her voice.

“Ow… hurts so bad…” she whimpered softly. In her rush, she’d jumped down and landed poorly—aggravating an old injury.

She’d once broken her arm and leg while learning to fly, and due to not getting proper medical attention, some lingering issues remained. That jump had reignited the pain in her right leg, and afterwards she could barely walk.

After taking a moment to collect herself, Eiru switched back to her male disguise and limped over to unlock the door.

“Took you long enough. What were you even doing?” Yuki stepped inside, slinging an arm over Eiru’s shoulder and handing over the takeout bag.

“Brought you food. Figured you hadn’t eaten.”

“You’re right. Thanks!” Eiru gratefully took the bag and sat down. Just as she was about to dig in, Yuki added:

“No need to thank me. Meal was 15 bucks, give me 20. Five for delivery.”

“?” Eiru stared at him in disbelief. Without hesitation, she punched him in the waist.

“Why not just rob me? Three more and I could’ve called a food delivery app.”

“Delivery apps can’t get in here. I can. That’s value. Kidding, kidding—dig in.” Yuki dodged the strike and helped open her lunchbox.

“Since you rarely eat at the cafeteria, I got you something special—Ginger Shredded Potatoes!”

The blindingly golden dish nearly made Eiru squint.

“What is this, Minesweeper???” she said, grabbing him by the collar and shaking him. Yuki played along, rolling his eyes dramatically.

“Oh yeah, the other two roommates will be back soon. I’ll introduce you later”. He suddenly straightened up.

“Since we’re gonna be roommates, you gotta get along. Otherwise, things could get… bloody.” The first half sounded reasonable—until the second veered off again.
