Demon King – Chapter 28 – The Demon Lord’s False Charges

Lowering her head, she carefully picked out the ginger strips from the shredded potatoes with her chopsticks. The golden dish really gave her a headache. “No, I give up. Truly worthy of being the strongest cosplayer in the food world…” Her head knocked on the table as our student Eiru gave up thinking.

“Aren’t there still several dishes left? Why are you struggling so much with ginger…” Yuki held his forehead, looking completely helpless.

“You did this on purpose, didn’t you? You out of all people know that I love potatoes.” Turning to look at him, Eiru’s face was full of resentment.

“That’s exactly why I got you this dish. Today this was the only dish in the cafeteria that had potatoes.”

“If I get the chance, I’ll definitely stew you together with the potatoes…”

“Meow~” Suddenly hearing a cat’s meow, Eiru looked down and discovered a brown and white cat that had snuck up on them, looking up at her.

“Gulu is back…” Yuki crouched down and scooped up this rather cute cat.

“You guys… are keeping a cat in the dorm?” The corner of Eiru’s mouth twitched slightly.

If she remembered correctly, the school dormitory strictly prohibited keeping pets. If they got caught, they were guaranteed to get written up and kicked out from the dorm. She really couldn’t believe that Yuki, a model student, would actually openly challenge the school’s authority by keeping a cat in the dorm…

“The three of us are raising it together. It’s a Maine Coon. During classes, it goes out to play by itself through the balcony air conditioner…”

“Oh, I see… Maine Coon? Wait a minute?” Just as she lowered her head to continue eating, Eiru suddenly remembered something and turned her head again, looking at the cat in Yuki’s arms with an incredibly horrified expression.

“It’s not the kind that can grow really big, is it?” Thinking of those giant cats she’d seen online that were almost as big as herself, Eiru suddenly felt a chill down her spine.

“Yeah, it grows pretty fast… After raising it for a while longer, it might be half the size of a person?” Yuki held Gulu, who was already the size of a pillow, and waved it at Eiru.

“I’m warning you, if this thing dares to climb onto my bed at night, I’ll stew both of you together.”

“Don’t you really like cats and dogs? I’ve never seen you this scared before…” Eiru’s unusual reaction puzzled Yuki, who thought that Eiru would be happy to see Gulu.

“That’s only if they’re small. This cat is way too big…” Just kidding, it was fine before, but now her true form was a loli – this kind of cat could pounce on her and devour her alive.

What Yuki said wasn’t actually wrong. The Demon Lord did indeed love small animals. But due to the fact that animals didn’t really like her, they often shied away from her. Because of that, Eiru was pretty annoyed.

“How about you try holding it for a bit?” Trying to hand Gulu over to Eiru, he met with strong resistance from her.

“No no no, take it away, take it away, don’t let it come over.” Scooting her body away, Eiru had an expression that said ‘If you dare come over, I’m gonna hit someone.’

After gaslighting herself into thinking that pets liked her, she stubbornly insisted on petting them despite being disliked, and as a result she often got bitten or scratched by cats and dogs alike.

Ever since she became a loli, she hadn’t tried interacting with any pets, even if she still liked doing so. Eiru basically didn’t dare to even come in contact with any small pets anymore, let alone the cat the size of a pillow.

“What’s there to be afraid of? I’m telling you, Maine Coons are very gentle.”

“Tigers in the zoo are also very gentle – why don’t you go pet one?”

“Never mind then…” Since she was unwilling, Yuki naturally didn’t force it and returned to his seat holding Gulu.

“You know, if those girls knew about your improper side, their fantasies would probably be shattered, wouldn’t they?” After taking a couple bites of rice, Eiru turned her head and started teasing the model student who was petting his cat.

“Let them be shattered then…”

“High school is a great time for dating though. Oh, I forgot – your mom would kill someone, so you didn’t try. Never mind, never mind…” Remembering how protective Yuki’s mother was, let alone dating – if any girl even got a few steps closer to Yuki, she might’ve exploded on the spot.

“Who says that I didn’t try? I do have someone I like, you know? On the other hand, I’m pretty worried that you’d be single for life…” Seeing himself being looked down upon, Yuki immediately retorted.

“What? Who?? Someone actually managed to charm our goody two shoes.” Ignoring the second comment, Eiru was ignited by the gossip and curiously stared at him.

“Yuki, didn’t you say there was a new roommate we could torment today?” The dorm door suddenly opened and two male students walked in.

Seeing Eiru sitting down eating, the two froze for a moment, then quickly backed away.

“Holy shit, aren’t you Eiru?” Seeing Eiru’s face, the two were quite frightened, as Eiru was indeed notorious throughout Seventh High School.

“Just what exactly were the rumours…” Although not surprised by their reaction, Eiru still fell into despair.

“Nothing much, just skipping school; beating up teachers who caught you; leading local gangs to rob classmates; having affairs with a lot of female classmates before ditching them…” As a close friend, Yuki happily twisted the knife in further.

What was all this… She had only skipped school, so how had it twisted into something like this? With each thing Yuki mentioned, Eiru’s heart clenched. How did she get so many false charges?

“We’re going to be roommates from now on, so at least help me explain things to these two.” Covering her head and lying on the table, Eiru looked utterly dejected.
