Demon King – Chapter 280 – Persecution Is About to Begin
“You’re not going to class?” Early in the morning, after finishing their wash, Yuki and the others were ready to head out when they noticed a certain girl showing no intention of leaving. She was hugging her clothes and trudging toward the balcony.
“I’m not going, I’m going to take a bath… I’ve skipped class before, it’s not the first time.” With that she snapped the bathroom door shut with a bang. The water had finally come back on, and going to school was not more important than a bath.
“Fine, fine, let’s just go… or the elevator will get crowded.” Jixian patted Yuki on the shoulder. “We’ll just lock her door for her.”
“Then remember to stay put and don’t wander off. If you want lunch, text me and I’ll bring it…”
“Got it~” A lazy voice came from the bathroom. After getting the reply, Yuki and the others locked the door and left the dorm for morning self‑study.
After finishing her bath and sitting on her bed, Eiru kept searching her mind for anything about the so‑called ‘Abyssal Ambers’ but clearly found nothing.
“What the hell, why did those four words suddenly pop into my head?” She grumbled, rubbing her towel-covered hair.
The only thing in her memory that might, maybe, possibly be related was that creepy Amber Crystal… but hadn’t that thing been missing for a long time? Hadn’t she already looked for it before?
To be honest, Eiru didn’t really want to deal with it—there was no lead to follow. But when she was idle the words ‘Find the Abyssal Ambers’ kept intruding into her thoughts, which was maddening.
With no memories to rely on, she flipped through whatever of the demon‑lineage inheritance information she could access in her mind, but still came up empty.

“Wait, I’m the Demon Lord, right? Why are there permission locks on the demon inheritance memory? Who the hell set those permissions, how do I unlock them, dammit!” Eiru roared, not realizing she’d just insulted herself.
“Also, since I woke up today my body seems to have recovered a bit.” She pressed at her chest and realized the discomfort that had plagued her had noticeably lessened.
Using her magic to examine more thoroughly, she found that most of her bodily functions had been restored to a fair degree and her organs, which had been deteriorating, had recovered significantly.
“Is this terminal lucidity?” She muttered, her lips twitching. After so much bad luck, she couldn’t count this as a good omen.
“Whatever, slacking off is the priority~” With a small wave of her hand, magic surged, and the cup on the desk floated over beside the dorm water dispenser.
Since there wasn’t much to do and her true identity had already been exposed to her dormmates, conserving that pile of mana felt pointless. So Eiru splurged a little to satisfy some daily convenience.
She remotely controlled the dispenser and the cup, poured herself a glass of ice water, and took a sip. The cold made her feel noticeably more relaxed.
“Whether it’s winter or summer, cold drinks are the best~” After all she was a ‘macho man’ who feared hot things and loved cold drinks.
“But so boring… there’s nothing to do alone in the dorm…” She muttered, and less than five seconds later, the ‘macho man’ completely collapsed.

—POV Change—
“By the way, I’ve always wondered how you managed to get into our class, Jiaqi.” Yuki leaned over and asked Jiaqi across the aisle.
This was the honor class, so it wasn’t like you could just wander in, right? Good grades were a hard requirement for admission. If your scores didn’t meet the mark, no amount of money would get you in.
Jiaqi had transferred schools and hadn’t been around for many exams. Normally a transfer like that might land a student in an ordinary class, not the honor class.
“That’s easy. They put me through a few assessments and I passed, so I came here,” Jiaqi waved a hand. “Basically they gave me standard test papers for each subject, a solo exam.”
“Transfers have to do that?” Jixian, Yuki’s deskmate, sounded surprised—this was outside their knowledge.
“Still, it’s good. Our class has the school backing us, so we usually don’t get into trouble… if something happens there are teachers or the school to deal with it.”
“True… honestly, I kind of want to figure out a way to lure Lu Brat over to our class.” Jiaqi propped his chin on his hand and considered how to make that stubborn loli stop playing dumb.
“You don’t say. I want to trick her… coax her over…” Yuki snapped awake at the idea. He’d had this plan for a long time but his stubborn friend was hard to sway.

Now that he knew her true form was a girl, Yuki wanted to trick her… coax her into transferring because it would be more convenient to take care of her.
“After the monthly exam the school will reassign classes based on our results. If you want to get her into ours you’ll have to persuade her before then.” Jixian reminded them.
“If I’m counting right, there’s less than two weeks left?”
“I get it, but why the word ‘lure’? Can we use another word?” Yuki’s eyes twitched… doesn’t ‘lure’ sound too harsh?
“Heh… why did I say ‘lure’? Yuki, don’t you get it?” Jixian gave a light laugh.
“Let’s talk business. When are you going to… make your move with the little princess…?” Jixian nudged his deskmate with his arm and lowered his voice so only the two could hear.
Confessing? Yuki hadn’t thought it through. So far Lu Brat had only treated him like a brother. Charging in recklessly would be unwise. Before he could finish his words, Yuki was already lost in thought.
“Home run?” 1 Baseball slang for spending the night(but hehe) together
“?” Yuki typed a question mark in his head… You have a problem, little brother. This is not how you rush the matter. Are you trying to stir up trouble?

“I… thought you were a decent person.” After a long pause Yuki only managed to say that.
“Don’t be ridiculous, I am decent… You have so many advantages, just go for it. I still want to drink your wedding wine too. Want me to help name the kids?”
No, your speed is too fast. Aren’t those lines usually from Ziyu? Your persona’s collapsing, Jixian… Yuki cursed inwardly while making expressive faces.
As for why Jixian had suddenly ramped up the teasing… Think about it this way. What would you do when two close friends have strong CP vibes? Of course you’d harass them.
Mutual teasing during youth is universal. Besides, that certain girl usually lived as a boy, which made for prime material. No one would pass up the chance to poke fun.
Translator Note
Time to start teasing Yuki to death!!!
