Demon King – Chapter 29 – On Her First Night, The Demon Lord Was Ambushed
Jokes aside, Yuki still helped clear things up between Eiru and the two roommates. Since Yuki was the one explaining, the pair reluctantly bought his explanation.
“Man, you’re really getting screwed over by these rumors…” Though not entirely convinced, the two dropped their initial wariness and struck up conversation with Eiru.
“Tell me about it. Who knew that so many crazy stories would spread? At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if rumors about me robbing banks start circulating tomorrow.”
Through their chat, everyone got properly introduced. The black-haired guy was Ziyu, who slept across from Yuki. The light brown-haired one was Jixian, sleeping across from Eiru—and he held the dubious honor of being the dorm’s designated errand boy.
It’s a universal truth in school dorms: whoever’s bed is closest to the fan and light switches becomes the unofficial servant. Whenever others can’t be bothered to get up or are feeling lazy, this poor soul gets voluntold for every little task.
“Meow~” While everyone chatted, Gulu had already escaped Yuki’s embrace, placing its front paws on Eiru’s chair and fixated on her with those big emerald eyes.
“Oh hell no, stay back.” Eiru scrambled sideways in alarm.
Seeing Eiru move away, the furry mastermind assumed she was graciously making room and leaped onto her chair in one fluid motion.
“Ah!” Eiru snatched up her lunch box and bolted for the door. The pillow-sized Maine Coon claimed her throne, sitting regally while tilting its head at the now displaced Eiru.

“Yuki, I’m starting to believe you now.”
“Same here…”
Jixian and Ziyu leaned against the ladder, taking in this surreal spectacle. They were pretty much sold on Yuki’s story at this point…
After all, how could the infamous terror of Seventh High possibly be afraid of one little… well, not-so-little kitty?
“I think Gulu’s eyeing your food…” Watching the cat’s laser focus on Eiru, Yuki read the situation correctly.
“Oh, that’s it? Should’ve said so sooner… I thought it wanted to make me the main course.” The last part was muttered under her breath. A devious idea sparked in Eiru’s mind as she plastered on an innocent smile.
“Here kitty kitty, dinnertime!” She picked up a chopstick-full of what was either ginger or potato, beckoning the feline with fake sweetness.
“That cat might not be human, but you’re a real piece of work,” the trio observed, though none moved to intervene. They knew karma was about to catch up with her.

“MEOW!” With a battle cry, Gulu arched its back and launched itself straight at the lunch box in Eiru’s hands, sending it crashing to the floor.
The sudden assault left Eiru frozen mid-gesture, chopsticks suspended in the air like a conductor’s baton.
She watched helplessly as the oversized feline devoured her meal. The food was definitely a write-off now—Eiru couldn’t and wouldn’t dare try wrestling it back from those claws. She could only suffer in silence, choking down whatever was stuck on her chopsticks…
Pure ginger. Of course. Her attempt at feline warfare had backfired spectacularly—not a single potato shred in sight. Play with fire, and get burned by ginger.
After its feast, Gulu vanished, presumably heading out to play on the balcony. Once the others left for afternoon classes, only the little Demon Lord remained, having shifted back to her true form.
With her week of leave approved, she didn’t need to clock in at the bubble tea shop. She sprawled across the balcony ledge, soaking up the afternoon sunlight like a cat herself.
Time drifted by pleasantly as she basked in the sun. Everything was going according to plan—she’d spend most of her dorm time blissfully alone.
Her schedule was perfect: classes during the day, brief midday returns, more afternoon classes, dinner, then evening study sessions. As long as she showered early, there’d be no risk of anyone catching her with wet hair in her real form. Zero chance of exposure.
After evening study ended, everyone showered, chatted briefly, then lights-out. They brushed their teeth and climbed into bed, just another day in the calendar.

Post-blackout, one silver-haired little loli huddled in her makeshift fortress, phone in hand while staying alert for any movement. Our Demon Lord was clearly on edge.
This was the critical point—the most nerve-wracking part of each day. Sleep meant dropping all pretenses, so she had to be absolutely certain everyone else was out cold before daring to close her eyes.
Only when gentle snoring filled the air did the tension leave Eiru’s shoulders. Finally relaxing, she curled up small and let her eyelids drift shut.
But deep in the night, with all four roommates lost in dreams, an uninvited guest slipped into her sanctuary…
This intruder moved with ninja-like stealth, not so much as a whisper betraying its presence. After a brief reconnaissance of the dorm, it zeroed in on a conspicuously curtained hideaway.
Scaling the ladder with ease, the Demon Lord’s carefully crafted privacy screen proved no match for this infiltrator. Without disturbing a soul—including Miss Eiru herself—the substantial form slithered through the curtain gaps like a liquid shadow…
Eiru stirred in her sleep, sensing weight settling on her chest. Already sleeping lightly from her nerves, the little Demon Lord snapped awake instantly.
Her eyes opened to meet a pair of glowing emerald orbs boring into her from the darkness.

The Demon Lord’s soul nearly left her body on the spot. Barely catching her scream before it escaped, she slipped a hand over her mouth, so rattled that she forgot she even had night vision.
“Meow~” As Eiru stared into the abyss, the abyss purred back as it settled down on her chest like she was premium real estate.
Oh for god’s sake—it’s just the cat! Nearly gave me a heart attack… The Demon Lord exhaled shakily, closing her eyes to resume sleeping… Yeah, right.
How was she supposed to sleep with a cat half her size using her as a mattress? Gulu looked curiously at the girl beneath while she lay paralyzed. Human and feline locked in a staring contest, the standoff stretching into an awkward eternity.
Eventually, Gulu relocated from her chest to curl up alongside her, resting its head against her hand.
Wait… no biting? Seeing its peaceful demeanor, the Demon Lord cautiously reached out to pet its head. Not only did she meet zero resistance, but Gulu actually licked her palm affectionately.
Such a good kitty! So maybe… a little cuddle wouldn’t hurt? The small Demon Lord, who’d never experienced animal affection before, was practically glowing with joy at this unprecedented development.
Moving slowly, like embracing an oversized plush toy, she gradually wrapped her arms around the large cat. Gulu didn’t protest, content to be held while even giving her cheek a gentle lick.
“Mmm, so precious…” Like a child with a new favorite stuffed animal, the Demon Lord curled into a ball on her side, nuzzling the warm, purring bundle of fur in pure bliss…
