Demon King – Chapter 31 – As Everyone Knows, Cats Are the Real Owners
The Demon Lord flailed her arms frantically, trying to ward off the approaching feline. But what happened next left her frozen in bewilderment.
The big cat didn’t advance any further. Instead, it swayed slightly and suddenly flopped down dramatically. Rolling over, Gulu went full belly-up with all four paws up, exposing its fluffy tummy while purring softly.
“Is this… a peace offering?” Eiru vaguely remembered reading online that when cats show their bellies, it’s a sign of trust.
She cautiously reached out to scratch under Gulu’s chin. Though she wasn’t entirely sure what she was doing, her instinct warned her that touching the belly was definitely forbidden… The big cat on the bed squinted blissfully and let out contented purrs.
After some gentle petting, the cat suddenly flipped back over and stood up. Under the little Demon Lord’s puzzled gaze, it began pacing circles around her while meowing persistently…
“Are you… hungry?” After racking her brain, it was the only thing that Eiru could come up with.
“If you let me cuddle you, I’ll find you something to eat…” Though she said this offhandedly, the big cat seemed to actually understand what she said. It stopped circling, positioned itself in front of her, and slowly leaned in.

“Whoa! You really do understand… So fluffy and squishy!” She wrapped her arms around the large feline and buried her face in its soft fur, nuzzling contentedly… It instantly healed the Demon Lord’s heart.
“Just wait a sec, I’ll hunt down some food for you.” After indulging in some quality cuddle time, the little Demon Lord remembered to keep her end of the bargain. She reluctantly climbed down the ladder to scavenge the dorm for anything remotely edible for Gulu.
Speaking of which, what does a cat this size even eat? She hadn’t spotted any cat food lying around… After a thorough sweep, Eiru found nothing feline-friendly on anyone’s shelves or storage areas.
“Fine, I’ll text that airhead Yuki…” She climbed back up to grab her phone while the big cat made itself comfortable on her bed, using its hind paw to scratch behind its ear as it waited for room service.
“Gulu’s food is in my cabinet, password 0716…” Yuki’s response came lightning-fast, making Eiru seriously question whether he was actually paying attention in class or not.
“0, 7, 1, 6… wait, that’s my birthday?” Muttering a complaint under her breath, the little Demon Lord punched in the code. The cabinet door swung open to reveal a treasure trove of premium cat food that nearly blinded her with its sheer abundance.
“Holy crap, is this what having rich parents looks like…” The Demon Lord stood there with her mouth wide open. Weren’t cats supposed to eat kibble or something? Why was this guy’s entire cabinet nothing but gourmet cat food?

Eiru also spotted a compact electric mini-fridge tucked inside. Peeking in revealed an assortment of raw meats and bones—undoubtedly also for His Feline Majesty.
“What kind of royal treatment is this cat getting? It eats better than I do.” She randomly selected a can, but before she could close the cabinet, a loud thump echoed from behind her.
Spinning around, she saw Gulu perfectly jump from her bed to Jixian’s, and perch on the edge of the bedframe with its head extended, laser-focused on her… or more specifically, on the can in her hands.
“Alright, alright… dinner time.” She popped open the can and set it on the floor. Gulu gracefully descended the ladder and began eating his meal with surprising dignity.
Pretty sophisticated table manners… Observing the big cat at her feet, the little Demon Lord couldn’t help but think. Unlike typical cats that inhale their food like vacuum cleaners, Gulu ate with the refined air of a distinguished gentleman…
“Take your time eating. When you’re done, go have some outdoor fun—I’ve got a lot of sunbathing scheduled on the roof…” She stretched languidly before turning toward the balcony sink for her morning routine.
After cleaning up, Eiru headed to her wardrobe to change before her rooftop expedition. She selected a dark casual dress and blue knee-highs. Just as she began lifting her nightgown, she had a feeling that something was watching her.
Following the piercing gaze, she discovered that Gulu had finished eating and was now enthroned on Yuki’s chair, staring at her intensely.

“Please tell me that you don’t plan on watching me change.” Her eyes twitched ominously. The oversized feline offered no response, simply continuing to watch.
“Go find something else to do! Perverted cat! I don’t care if you’re just an animal—there’s absolutely no way you’re getting a free show!” The little Demon Lord brandished her clothes like weapons, attempting to shoo the creature away, preferably toward the balcony.
“MEOW!” Gulu’s sharp, warning cry made the Demon Lord immediately retreat, slowly lowering her makeshift fabric arsenal.
“If I can’t fight you, I can at least escape…” Grumbling under her breath, Eiru gathered her clothes and scrambled up to her bed, planning to change in the privacy of her curtained fortress.
Perched on her mattress with the nightgown halfway off, she noticed a familiar set of paws gripping the ladder’s top rung. A certain feline had appeared at the top of the ladder, boring holes into her with those emerald eyes…
“GET DOWN FROM THERE!!!” The little Demon Lord’s face flashed red as she threw a pillow at the intruder.
“Meoww!” The cushion made contact, sending Gulu scrambling down the ladder, with blissful silence following.

“What is up with this cat… We literally just met, and it’s already this obsessed with me? I mean, being popular with animals is nice and all, but this is getting weird…” Still flushed, she muttered while finishing changing. Climbing down, she discovered the big cat had mysteriously vanished.
“Did it actually go outside?” Eiru shrugged and crouched to slip on her shoes.
Suddenly, her sharp hearing caught the telltale jingle of keys in the corridor. A moment later, the neighboring dorm’s lock clicked open.
Oh shit! Dorm inspection! Instantly recognizing the crisis, the little Demon Lord bolted toward the evidence—the incriminating can of cat food. She snatched it up and buried it under some trash and scrap paper, praying that the dorm supervisor wouldn’t notice…
In one fluid motion, she stuffed her nightgown into the cabinet, slammed it shut, secured the lock, and made a desperate dash for the balcony.
The sound of a key sliding into their lock echoed throughout the room. At that exact moment, the girl unfurled her wings and launched herself into the air. Using the balcony ledge as a launchpad, the Demon Lord flew into the sky…
