Demon King – Chapter 439 – The Buff Author Threw the Title into the Pot

After school, Eiya hitched a ride home with her old man on his way back from work. The moment she got home, she dove straight into her room.

She locked the door behind her, pulled off the wig on her head, and revealed the silver-white long hair that had been stifled underneath it all day.

Eiya collapsed into her chair like she had been pardoned from death row. Even though the wig her sister had prepared could already be considered top-tier in both quality and comfort… honestly speaking, stuffing her hair under a wig for an entire day was still pretty damn uncomfortable.

At least the weather wasn’t hot right now. Otherwise, wearing this thing all day and then throwing in a PE class or something, Eiya would genuinely feel like she was about to crack apart.

“This can’t go on forever…”

She muttered under her breath. But for the moment, she really couldn’t think of any better solution. Automatically color-changing hair that could break through dye effects, who the hell could even come up with that?

‘Forget it, I’ll go get some water…’

As she thought about it, Eiya realized she was a bit thirsty. Just as she was about to head to the living room to pour herself a cup of cold boiled water, she suddenly remembered that her father seemed to still be sitting outside.

She clicked her tongue and pulled her hand back from the doorknob. Not wanting to put the wig back on so soon, she gloomily sat back down in the chair.

After spacing out for quite a while, Eiya felt that it might be better to at least get rid of some homework first. But just as she reached into her backpack, a wave of discomfort similar to not being able to catch her breath flooded her entire body.

“Ugh… huff…”

It wasn’t that she literally couldn’t breathe, but the discomfort was very real. Eiya clutched her chest and panted heavily. This wasn’t the first time she’d experienced this feeling.

She knew there had to be something missing from her. Ever since she could remember, she had always carried this sense of emptiness and loss, like something had been taken away. Only when someone was with her, especially when Eiru was with her, would that feeling ease up.

This strange sensation of suffocation and the inexplicable fatigue and weakness were symptoms derived from that emptiness and loss. And as she grew older, both the feeling itself and the symptoms it spawned had been gradually getting worse.

But the past couple of days had been especially cursed. She didn’t know what the hell was going on, but things had worsened to an entirely new level. Before, she could still grit her teeth and hide it. Now, once it flared up, the only way she could cover it was by lying face-down on the desk.

Of course, Eiya had no idea that a soul could affect the body. This kind of mystical nonsense was something even scientists couldn’t reasonably explain… let alone the fact that part of her soul had been stuffed into her sister. It was precisely because that portion was missing that she was experiencing these problems.

Not just her. The other party involved, little Eiru herself, was also completely in the dark. With their shared memories sealed away, whatever agreement these two sisters had reached back then, and for what purpose they carried out this operation, was something no one knew.

“This is bad, this is really bad. I can clearly breathe… so why does it feel like I’m suffocating?”

Eiya braced herself against the wall, gasping for air. Normally speaking, the duration of these symptoms would conservatively last over five minutes.

“Big sis checked me too, and said aside from the already suppressed deterioration, there aren’t any other problems with my body, right?”

Questioning her very existence, Eiya still held complete trust in her sister’s conclusion. If it wasn’t a physical problem, then was it psychological? Or some kind of mental illness?

“So… do I need to secretly go see a psychologist?”

After quite some time, the symptoms finally eased up a lot. Having classified it as a psychological issue, Eiya had already started considering seeing a psychologist.

Too much academic pressure? Probably not. Eiya didn’t think she’d ever had any issues with studying. Consistently ranking in the top three of her grade, she wasn’t as monstrous as her sister, but she was still a rare little genius… at least academically.

Could it be that she’d been worrying herself sick over her sister’s problems? Eiya thought about it and arrived at a conclusion that would make Eiru spit her water straight out.

Thinking carefully, Eiru was immature, had a terrible relationship with the family right now, and was giving herself away for free every day… The more Eiya thought about it, the more her head hurt. But she felt that this probably didn’t have much to do with her own condition.

After thinking herself in circles with no answers, Eiya ultimately gave up. Worst case scenario, she’d just go consult a psychologist later. Better to let them get a headache instead.

She sighed and took out her homework. Just as she was about to start writing, a knock suddenly sounded from outside her room. And to make matters worse, after the suffocating sensation, that strange fatigue and weakness also came rushing in.

“Little  Ya? Open the door. I need to talk to you about something…”

‘Ahhhhh why!!! Don’t start shit now!’

Listening to her father’s urging and knocking from outside, Eiya screamed internally.

But she couldn’t even manage a simple response right now. All she could do was leave Ei Yuan standing outside the door. She could only hope that he’d think she was too tired, resting for a bit, and had already fallen asleep…

“Ring… give it back to me…”

At the same time, in Dorm 1503, a certain unwilling Demon Lord was tugging at Yuki’s clothes, continuing to act as a human repeater.

“So humans are repeaters by nature, but turns out demons are too?”

Ziyu complained to Jixian. They’d already heard this sentence no less than a hundred times today.

“Nope. I’ll give it back once you behave.”

Likewise, Yuki had no idea how many times he’d repeated this line either. But he still wore that indulgent smile, patiently answering the naughty girl again and again.

“I’m from the Demon Clan, not a demon! That’s different!”

Her Majesty the Demon Lord suddenly corrected the two whispering to each other, then turned her head back toward Yuki…

“Ring… give it back to me…”

“What Demon Clan… you’re still a repeater…”

Ziyu’s mouth twitched. He was starting to genuinely admire this baffling little couple’s patience.

“If I don’t have the ring, I can’t use Authority… stuff like illusions would need magic arrays written with mana. Those are really troublesome to use, and the consumption is huge!”

After an entire day, Eiru finally stopped her one-sided repeating and gave a relatively reasonable explanation.

“Hm? You’re going out?”

Yuki raised an eyebrow. As long as she obediently stayed in the dorm, was there really any need to use illusions?

“I have to work, you idiot! I’m scheduled today! If you don’t give it back to me, I can’t even do my job properly!”

She waved her arms wildly. Eiru was starting to suspect that this bastard was deliberately messing with her.

“It’s fine, don’t go. I’ll raise you.”

Yuki gently picked up the little girl in front of him and said with a shameless grin.

Several blue veins popped on Eiru’s forehead. As a model girl of the new era and a Demon Lord, she absolutely would not allow herself to become some embarrassing freeloader who lived off others.

“If you don’t give it back right now, I’m really going to get angry!”
