Demon King – Chapter 494 – Who Am I?
Demon King – Chapter 494 – Who Am I?
“Ahh, satisfied, satisfied. This stuff is way too dangerous for humans to handle, so I helped you deal with it while I was at it.”
Rubbing her little belly, the Demon Lord poured the entire bottle of solution down without leaving a single drop. Sitting on the table now, she wore a look of utter satisfaction.
This shady liquid turned out to be a highly concentrated magic solvent. Eiru had struck it rich this time. One bottle like that restored an amount of magic no different from basking in the sun for an entire long vacation.
With magic back in her system, a certain girl could naturally do whatever she pleased. It felt like when she had just turned into a girl, that sensation of overflowing magic making her unable to stop herself. Her whole body felt light, her head a little floaty.
“So where did you get this stuff from? Tell me the source and the method, yeah. I can think about giving you a little reward… no wait, forget that, tell me now!”
She started out smiling, but halfway through, the little Demon Lord suddenly remembered the other party was no good person. Her expression instantly turned vicious.
The director was completely dumbfounded. Watching someone chug down something with the lethality of a super poison and then loudly proclaim satisfaction made him start doubting whether his earlier conclusions had been wrong.
In truth, the director possessed a piece of what was suspected to be a fragment of Amber Crystal. He had gone to great lengths to obtain it. After the Amber Crystal vanished and the Daughters of Amber Crystal stopped appearing, he had continued researching this piece, trying to figure out a way to extract the Amber Crystal factor from it.
But this research went far beyond his area of expertise, so progress was basically nonexistent. Worse still, this strange thing that looked like both amber and crystal was completely indestructible.

Chisels, drill bits, even a hydraulic press were all used. No matter what he tried, the director could not scrape off even the thinnest layer of powder from its surface. That only made him more confused. How could something this absurd possibly have fragments?
In the end, he discovered that soaking it in water would alter the water’s properties, producing a special solution capable of extracting and storing the Amber Crystal factor. Using this solution, he had successfully preserved a portion of the extracted factor to keep his own granddaughter alive.
He figured that if he explained all this, the demon in front of him would most likely snatch the Amber Crystal away. So the director clamped his mouth shut and refused to answer any of Eiru’s questions.
“Well, whatever… asking you this is pointless anyway…”
Just as she was about to get up and continue what she had been doing earlier, the little Demon Lord suddenly felt dizzy. If she had not reacted quickly and grabbed the table beside her, she probably would have fallen right then and there.
Of course, there was no additional effect hidden in the solvent. The sudden reaction was simply due to taking in too much magic all at once. For this stupid girl who had never experienced such a sensation before, it had gone straight to her head.
She let out a loud burp. What Eiru had said earlier on the phone to Jiaqi was not wrong. She really did not need to eat today. Even though she was still an astronomical distance away from having her magic completely full, she genuinely felt like she was stuffed and getting sleepy.
“No good, too full, too dizzy… can’t handle it…”

The Demon Lord felt like her stamina had never been this overfilled. She could barely even walk, so she sat back down at the table to rest.
Like a cat that had entered lazy mode after eating its fill, the little Demon Lord whimpered softly, rolled over, and sprawled on top of the table. She completely forgot there was still someone next to her. Actually, there was also someone else paying close attention from inside a jar.
This was a good chance. The director felt a surge of delight and tried to exert strength with both hands, then immediately calmed down. His hands were tightly shackled to steel pipes. Unless he flipped the entire lab table over, he could not move at all.
“Nope, I need to sleep for a bit. Night night.”
Leaving behind a headache-inducing sentence, the Demon Lord actually closed her eyes just like that.
No one could find this place anyway. The only real threat had already been subdued, with no possibility of escape or pulling any other tricks. With that thought, the sleepy girl gave up resisting entirely and let her willfulness run free.
Eiru might have been satisfied and happy, but the person shackled to the table was about to break down. He knew better than anyone how hidden this place was. Unless something special happened, he would have to maintain this ridiculous posture until the girl woke up.
This short nap from the Demon Lord lasted straight into the evening. Perhaps because of the surrounding environment, she had an extremely strange and terrifying dream.
“Waaah!”

Eiru screamed as she jolted awake from the table, then carelessly rolled straight onto the floor.
In the dream, she experienced the lives of several Daughters of Amber Crystal from a first-person perspective. Now, the way she looked at the person beside her was filled with fear.
“Y-You… you didn’t even use anesthesia and just drilled straight into the bone marrow? Just to keep it ‘active’? Are you even human!”
Eiru felt a dull ache spreading through her entire body. Performing bone marrow punctures on little girls without anesthesia. Was that really something a human could do?
Eiru’s dreams fully reconstructed the five senses, though if they were someone else’s memories, the intensity would be greatly reduced. Even so, the pain had once made her think she was going to die. She could not imagine how those little girls had endured all of that back then.
“You’re insane. You’re really insane…”
The little Demon Lord hugged her head and muttered to herself. It was not just the pain. In that dream, she had also received a piece of reality that hit her incredibly hard.
“I… Amber Crystal… no, Abyssal Amber? That’s me? The Demon Lord is Abyssal Amber? Abyssal Amber is the Demon Lord?”

Her mind was in complete chaos. Eiru could no longer tell what kind of existence she was anymore.
‘Who am I, really? An ordinary human boy who had lived for sixteen years? A girl Demon Lord forcibly placed on a throne? Or that massive chunk of amber that had existed for who knew how long?’
The little Demon Lord began to doubt the authenticity of her own existence. She did not know whether she was Eiru who had been turned into this by the Amber Crystal, or whether she was simply the Amber Crystal that had obtained Eiru’s memories and convinced itself it was her.
In the minds of all the Daughters of Amber Crystal, there was a shared, blurry piece of information. By experiencing their lives and browsing their memories, Eiru realized that this so-called blurry information was actually something like a prophecy.
Perhaps it was the past, or perhaps the future. At some moment in time, such a person would exist. While she lived, the tragedy would stop. But if she failed to make the right choices, after she disappeared, the tragedy would begin again.
“You are the root cause of everything. It was for your birth that so many girls died. Do you understand now?”
Seeing the demon girl in a state of confusion, unable even to grasp who she was, the director seized the opportunity to repeat what he had said earlier. He wanted to intensify the shock and crush her psychologically.
