Demon King – Chapter 603 – Soul Link
Demon King – Chapter 603 – Soul Link
“Hey, Lu Brat, wait up! don’t run that fast!”
He chased Eiru all the way back toward the dorms. No idea what happened to this girl, she suddenly looked like she had an epiphany, dumped him on the spot, and ran straight back toward the school.
Though it was obvious the loli still waited for him. The whole way she was half-flying, half-jogging. Otherwise, if she had really flown outright, Yuki would not have had any chance of catching up.
“Hulu! Get over here! Overtime! Work!”
She rattled off commands in a row. The moment she pushed open the dorm door, Her Majesty the Demon Lord grabbed a certain small creature that had been lying there resting.
“Wait, Lu Brat, what exactly are you—”
By the time Yuki caught up, what he saw was the two of them with their foreheads pressed together, already in a resonant state.
Yuki did not understand magic or anything like that, but at the very least he knew this kind of stuff was risky and unstable energy. Since Eiru was clearly focused on serious business right now, he swallowed his words back down to avoid disturbing her and causing some kind of accident.
After about ten minutes, the little Demon Lord suddenly looked completely exhausted. Her hands loosened and she collapsed straight down. Seeing this, Yuki hurriedly pushed a chair over, barely preventing her from plopping straight onto the floor.
“How is it? What is going on?”

“Just as I expected, there is no one in this world who can mess with my memories… except myself~”
Even though she looked worn out, Eiru still mischievously stuck out her tongue and answered Yuki with a playful tone.
Yuki’s remark about the soul had reminded her. Because she had always been using her mental link with Hulu to search for clues, the direction of her research had been wrong from the very beginning.
And Eiya’s problem seemed to be the same. Since it was not a physical issue, Eiru’s first thought had been the mental side. After all, the soul was far too abstract and far too prone to problems. Rather than being unable to think of it, it was more like she had subconsciously avoided that option.
Soul-related matters were things where one misstep could turn someone into an irrecoverable wreck. Anything involving this was high risk. Even as a Demon Lord, she did not dare touch it lightly.
“So what did you just do?”
Looking at his girlfriend’s abnormal level of exhaustion, Yuki was worried.
‘This girl did not go and do something dangerous again, did she?’
“In simple terms, I temporarily linked my soul with Hulu’s~ Gotta say, this thing drains way more energy than I imagined. I almost could not make it back… tehee~”
“Tehee my ass! You just did something that dangerous?”

Yuki was so scared he actually started shouting, which was rare for him.
His wife had just walked a tightrope at high altitude, right in front of him. And he had stood there stupidly, watching her take that risk?
Panicked and furious, Yuki hurriedly reached out and started feeling around his girlfriend’s body, checking whether she was missing anything or had lost parts somewhere. If anything happened to Eiru, he could not bear it.
“Can you take better care of yourself? If something happens to you, what am I supposed to do? Huh? How many times have I told you to be careful? Do you really have to joke around with your own life?”
“D-Don’t get so worked up. Hulu and I are essentially one entity, so linking up is not that dangerous. And it was only just born not long ago. Its soul is not that complicated or tainted yet, so it is easy to separate. Relax.”
“No more doing things this dangerous in the future. If you dare do this again, I will spank your butt until it swells, got it?”
Seeing that Eiru was fine, Yuki finally relaxed a bit, but still viciously warned her.
“What, do you think I am a kid? Spanking my butt… and I already told you it is a soul issue. What is the point of touching me? Can you touch my soul?”
Watching him still anxiously feeling around and checking her, Her Majesty the Demon Lord felt a bit speechless. But to be fair, he really did not have any other way to check.
Just now, through linking her soul with Hulu’s, she had, for the first time, observed her own sea of consciousness from a third-person perspective. It had to be said, the saying that those involved are confused while observers see clearly was spot on. Viewing it from Hulu’s angle, she really did discover clues she had never been able to notice before.

“Although I can influence other people’s thinking and memories by giving hints, kind of like hypnosis, as long as their will is firm it is not hard to break through… so logically speaking, I don’t have the ability to directly manipulate other people’s memories or thoughts.”
“But did you not just say that you messed with your own memory—”
“Let me finish first~”
The little Demon Lord waved her hand and cut off Yuki’s question.
“It is like alchemy, with its iron rule of equivalent exchange. I can also pay a price to do things that I normally cannot.”
From that observer’s perspective, Eiru discovered a mysterious glowing sphere in her sea of consciousness, tightly bound by layers upon layers of chains. The chains were wrapped so densely that the sphere could not move at all, but it seemed a very long time had passed. The chains were already badly damaged, giving the impression that they would crumble at the slightest touch.
Because she was only an observer, Eiru could not directly interfere with the seal. But after briefly making contact, she realized that the sphere itself was essentially a massive aggregation of knowledge and information.
The bits of information that would occasionally pop into her head were fragments that had broken free from the damaged chains around the sphere.
“So your memories are inside that big glowing ball? Once the chains come off, you can get them back?”
Yuki finally let out a breath of relief. Hearing about equivalent exchange and paying a price earlier had really scared him. He had been worried her lost memories might never come back.

“No. The memories I lost are not inside that sphere. That sphere only contains pure knowledge and information, including racial memories of the demon race. Although it seems to also contain something else, I cannot figure out what that is yet.”
However, the little Demon Lord did find where her lost memories were. The chains tightly binding the sphere were actually the memories she had paid as the price. So it was not that she had lost her memories. Rather, her past self had used part of her memories as chains to seal that massive glowing sphere.
“Once the chains break, I should be able to get them back, right? I am not totally sure though~ But at least during the contact, the seal loosened a bit more, and I got some new information.”
As for why her past self had done this, present-day Eiru had no way of knowing. But it definitely was not without reason. Even though she often liked stirring things up, when Her Majesty the Demon Lord took matters seriously, she was always extremely reliable.
And there was one most important thing that Eiru did not say, but Yuki could easily guess.
This loli had never really valued herself. She was absolutely not the type who would sacrifice something for her own sake.
If that was the case, then the only thing that could have made her pay the price of memories was doing it for someone else. And she was not stupid enough to make that kind of sacrifice for a stranger.
So who that person was, both of them already had the answer in their hearts…
