Demon King – Chapter 613 – Don’t Think About Leaving Me

“Are you out of your damn mind? I thought you were coming to the port to look for someone, but you actually rented a small yacht?”

Jiaqi had no idea how to evaluate the situation anymore. What the hell was going on inside Yuki’s head?

You are not thinking Eiru went into the water, right? Someone who is terrified of water going into the water… You are not thinking she jumped into the river, are you? Is she that kind of person?

The two of them were very clear on this. Even if Eiru really broke down and went crazy enough to hurt herself to vent her emotions, she would absolutely never do something as stupid as ending her own life. After all, who was the one that had talked someone down back then?

“Trust me. She’s definitely there.”

“Where? Don’t tell me she’s on some undeveloped riverbank…”

Jiaqi did not believe for a second that they could find Eiru in a place surrounded by water, let alone somewhere that could only be reached by boat.

It just so happened that it was a time when river cruise regulations were relatively relaxed, which was why the two of them could rent a small yacht like this. Following the current downstream, they soon saw the cross-river bridge from earlier in the distance.

“Hey, don’t tell me…”

Recalling how Yuki had been picky about the size of the boat back at the port, Jiaqi looked at the size of this yacht and then at the situation around the bridge, and he seemed to vaguely guess Yuki’s destination.

Yuki did not answer. After a while, the boat reached beneath the bridge and slipped into the small hollow spaces between the bridge piers. Those piers were like little isolated islands on the river’s surface, carrying a sense of loneliness compared to the imposing bridge above.

At Yuki’s request, the yacht circled back and forth through the small hollows between the piers. But no matter how many loops they made, the tops of the piers were completely empty, with nothing to be found.

“Driver, please steer over there, to the second-to-last pier at the back.”

Even though there was nothing, Yuki had no intention of leaving. Instead, he asked the driver to bring the yacht right up beside the pier.

“So what exactly are you trying to do, Yuki…”

Jiaqi was completely lost now. Then he dumbly realized that as the boat drew close to the pier, Yuki jumped straight onto it.

“Holy shit?”

Even though he was stunned, Jiaqi quickly followed him. The limited space on the pier instantly became crowded, leaving the boat driver completely at a loss.

“Hey, you two young guys. Messing around is fine, but don’t do something this dangerous… If the water police come over later, they’ll arrest both of you.”

Trying to scare the two who had suddenly jumped off the boat, the boat owner did not dare let anything happen to them. Not many kids this age ran out on their own to rent boats for fun, and he was really afraid of getting himself into trouble.

“Sir, just wait a moment, we’ll be right back.”

Jiaqi replied to the man on the boat, covering for Yuki.

“Yuki, what are you even doing, jumping onto a place like th—”

Before he could finish speaking, he saw Yuki suddenly squat down facing the pier, his expression one of relief, as if a weight had finally been lifted.

“Lu Brat? You’re here, right…”

There was clearly nothing in front of them, yet the squatting Yuki spoke as if to himself, talking to the tall pier pillar that looked like a solid wall.

Before Jiaqi could make any sense of the situation, the space in the middle of the pier pillar suddenly opened up as if a hole had appeared out of thin air, revealing a square opening. Inside it, a silver-haired girl was huddled there, trembling, one hand clutching her own body, staring at the two boys outside with a face full of confusion.

“You… how did you know I was here?”

“If it were the usual you, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to find you… But right now your heart is completely in chaos, isn’t it?”

Yuki reached out and gently stroked the girl’s cheek, not caring at all about the mud smeared across it.

Yuki was not lying. To be honest, he had only tried reversing the logic and testing his luck based on intuition. If it were the usual Eiru, this level of attempt would have been nothing. She would have turned it around in an instant and used it against him. Finding her would have been completely impossible.

She looked even more miserable than a vagrant or beggar. Her body was almost entirely covered in mud, including her hair and face. That beautiful silver hair was caked with filth, having lost all its former shine.

And it was plainly visible that there were patches of abrasions on her skin, the kind left behind by falls. Someone who did not know better might have thought she was a child who had been cruelly abandoned and dumped in some remote corner of the mountains.

The way she had spoken just now was also extremely weak, as if even making a sound took all her strength. Looking at her now, as if she had suffered abuse, the two of them felt more than just heartache. Jiaqi even turned his head away, unable to bear looking at her.

“I win this time, so… can you obediently tell me what happened?”

With a relieved smile, Yuki’s voice carried no other emotions mixed into it. Just listening to it made one feel warm, purely gentle and caring.

“It’s nothing. Just a useless person who got abandoned…”

Leaning her head against the concrete beside her, the Demon Lord whose heart had already shattered spoke in a completely flat tone, without any rise or fall.

“Hey, you two young guys, hurry back onto the boat!”

The man on the boat urged them again. Jiaqi looked at the situation, rubbed his head in frustration, and made a decision.

“I’ll go stall him. Hurry up.”

Leaving behind those words, Jiaqi was extremely curious about what had happened, but right now he had to buy these two some time.

“There’s no time right now. Can we talk later? Don’t be stubborn. Come home with me first.”

Yuki knew they did not have much time. He was just about to reach out and lift her up when he suddenly realized that something was wrong with her condition.

“Wait, what’s wrong with your hand and your leg?”

Only then did Yuki notice that one of Eiru’s hands and one of her legs were completely dragging on the ground…

And now that he looked more closely, no longer obscured by the mud, he could see large patches of bruising on her body. It was obvious that she had suffered a brutally severe beating.

“I don’t have a home, so I have nowhere to go…”

Her Majesty the Demon Lord rejected Yuki’s attempt to take her away. She curled the one leg that could still move and used the one hand that still worked to inch her body further inside.

“Mm…”

As she moved, the parts of her body that could still move seemed to protest, a wave of sharp pain surging through her, making Eiru let out a barely audible cry.

Even without knowing exactly what had happened, seeing the girl in front of him like this and connecting it with what she had just said, Yuki could roughly guess the situation…

So without saying another word, he stepped forward and tried to forcibly pick her up. But before he could act, an invisible magical barrier once again blocked him.

“Lu Brat! Stop being stubborn!”

“Just leave me alone…”

Facing Yuki’s reprimand, the little Demon Lord chose to keep her head lowered. She had nowhere to go, so she might as well stay in this place where no one could disturb her.

“You still have a home, don’t you? So why are you saying you don’t? You still have me, don’t you? Isn’t my home your home? Didn’t you say that before!”

Yuki’s shout made a glimmer suddenly appear in Eiru’s lifeless eyes. Trembling, she lifted her head, and what entered her sight was Yuki reaching his hand out toward her.

“Come home with me, okay? Back to our home… You won’t have to suffer those grievances anymore. From now on, we’ll live together, alright?”

Hearing Yuki’s words, Eiru’s already shattered heart seemed to tremble once more. A surge of emotion spread through her chest, and she felt an impulse to take his hand. She dispelled the magical barrier, and the one hand she could still move slowly lifted.

As she slowly reached toward Yuki’s arm, a sudden sharp pain shot through her arm. The stimulation of the pain made the little Demon Lord’s body jolt, reawakening her inferiority complex. She hesitated again, her movement stopping…

But Yuki did not give her a chance to hesitate. He grabbed her hand in one motion, stepped forward, pulled her into his arms, and held her tightly against his chest.

“Don’t think about leaving me. I told you already… I won’t let go for the rest of my life.”
