Demon King – Chapter 694 – The Demon Lord and the Hero Make Contact

After class, basking in the winter sunlight out on the corridor with Yuki, it was just another ordinary slice of campus life. But today, Eiru ran into something rather out of the ordinary.

“Let go of that senior! You bewitching bastard!”

A shout came from not far behind them. The little Demon Lord turned her head and saw that the owner of the voice was someone she didn’t recognize at all.

“Are you… talking about me?”

She glanced around, and Her Majesty the Demon Lord realized that aside from herself and Yuki, there weren’t really any other students lingering nearby.

‘Wait, this guy looks kind of familiar? He seemed like the one who had been pacing back and forth outside the classroom earlier, watching me.’

Remembering that, the little Demon Lord curiously sized up the rude guy pointing a finger at her.

Originally, Eiru wouldn’t have remembered someone like this at all. Being glanced at a few extra times was the kind of trivial thing she’d forget in minutes.

But not long ago, this very person had rushed up to this floor holding two pieces of bread and cosplaying a medieval knight, only to be caught and dragged away by the grade director. That had been pretty funny, so it left an impression on quite a few people, the Demon Lord included.

“Yes, you! You bewitching bastard! Let go of the boy next to you!”

Finally facing this terrifying Demon Lord head-on, Xixia gathered his courage. This time, he had to probe her true nature and put a stop to her evil deeds.

“Bewitching… people’s hearts?”

Hearing that, the little Demon Lord’s first reaction was to lower her head and glance at her own meager… Sorry, read too many jokes. The moment someone says hearts, her mind goes off on weird tangents.

“Anyway, hurry up and let him go! He’s innocent! You can’t lay hands on innocent people!”

Seeing that the loli was still clinging to the silver-haired boy beside her, Xixia grew anxious. He couldn’t let an innocent passerby get dragged into this.

Yuki looked at this rude boy in Seventh High’s male uniform and, combining it with what he’d just said, reached a conclusion.

‘This guy isn’t here to steal my wife, is he?’

Turning around, Yuki stepped forward, intending to make his stance clear and give the other guy a warning. But before he could even take a step, the girl beside him reached out and stopped him.

‘What’s going on? This guy’s target is you, right? Lu Baby, are you seriously protecting me by stepping in front like that?’

Watching his little girlfriend, face serious, block him and stand in front of him, Yuki’s head filled with question marks. This wasn’t how the script was supposed to go. Shouldn’t I be the one stepping up?

“Ahem, let me make this clear first. You’re too late. He’s mine now, and I’m not giving him to anyone else.”

Her Majesty the Demon Lord’s words instantly left both of them confused. Yuki, who understood part of what she meant, looked at the boy with a hint of wariness.

‘Damn, so you’re actually here for me?’

“Giving him to someone else? Sure, he’s pretty handsome… wait, too late? Does that mean he’s already been brainwashed beyond saving by you?! Just to collect a minion? You despicable demon who targets innocent people!”

Since he couldn’t understand what the other side was really saying, Xixia could only interpret the words of this ‘incarnation of evil’ in his own way.

He never expected the Demon Lord to act so viciously and so quickly, already talking like other people were her property. Truly worthy of being a feared existence.

“Chuunibyou?”

Yuki lowered his head and whispered the question into his little girlfriend’s ear, quickly receiving an affirmative response.

“Probably. And it looks pretty severe.”

“What are you two whispering about?! Damn it. I can’t attack ordinary people, but since he’s already become a minion…”

Xixia ground his teeth, spouting words that made no sense to either of them, then pulled out his precious pendant and held it up in front of them.

“Disperse!!!”

In the quiet air, you could even hear sparrows chirping. Eiru and Yuki looked at each other, neither knowing how to deal with this awkward situation.

“Is he an idiot?”

“I think so. He’s sick. He needs treatment. Don’t give up on therapy.”

“Damn it, why isn’t it working?! Wasn’t this supposed to be a demon-dispelling artifact? Grandpa said so. There’s no way he lied to me!”

Seeing that his pendant had absolutely no effect, Xixia turned around and started fiddling with it. To prevent a sneak attack from the evil Demon Lord behind him, he even turned back to warn the two of them.

“Intermission! Wait for me a bit, just a bit! I’ll fix it and then we’ll continue. Sneak attacks are disgraceful!”

‘He really is an idiot. Late-stage chuunibyou.’

Holding her forehead and complaining inwardly, the little Demon Lord noticed that other students were starting to get drawn by the commotion and were gradually gathering around.

To avoid becoming a spectacle, taking advantage of the moment when the chuunibyou guy wasn’t paying attention to them, Her Majesty the Demon Lord decisively grabbed Yuki and ran, leaving him there to keep messing with his stuff alone.

“Damn it, something must be wrong!”

Unable to fix the pendant for the time being, Xixia temporarily gave up on the ‘artifact’ in his hand. Instead, he pulled out two items from behind him, turned around, and struck a stance.

“But I still have my sharp spear and invincible shield! Come on, you evil Demon Lord, I— where did she go?”

The target was long gone. In her place was a crowd of onlookers who had surrounded him, watching him make a fool of himself. Holding a CD disc and a ballpoint pen, Xixia froze on the spot. Even with late-stage chuunibyou, faced with this kind of scene, he couldn’t help but start blushing.

Amid the laughter of the crowd, humiliated and furious, Xixia bolted. When he reached the stairwell, he wasn’t paying attention and slammed headfirst into someone.

“You again, kid? Last time it was bread that got confiscated. This time you’re pulling out a pen to stage an assassination?”

Hearing that voice, Xixia’s heart sank. Without hesitation, he turned around to run, but it was already too late. His collar had been grabbed tightly from behind.

“Chasing around in the corridor, and holding a pen while bumping into people. If that stabbed someone… get over here. Letting you off last time didn’t teach you a lesson, huh? This time you’re coming with me to the office to write a self-criticism. Until it’s done, you’re not going to class.”

‘I’m the chosen Hero. As long as I can subjugate the evil Demon Lord, all sacrifices are worth it.’

Even though that’s what he told himself, sitting in the director’s office biting his lip and writing a self-criticism, Xixia still wore a face of pure agony.

‘Despicable Demon Lord. Hiding in the crowd and still so hard to deal with. When I finally catch you alone, I’ll definitely make you pay.’

Thinking angrily, Xixia pressed down hard with his hand. The ballpoint pen clicked, the button sank in, and it gloriously met its end.

“What, not convinced? Taking it out on the pen now? Do you even know what you did wrong?”

“No, no! Teacher, I was wrong! I’ll write it now, right now!”

Hero or not, Xixia was still a student. Faced with the food-chain suppression of teachers and grade directors, all he could do was bow his head in submission.
