Demon King – Chapter 703 – Classmate Jiaqi’s Emotions Are Very Stable
“Let go of me. Don’t stop me. I’m going to slaughter that little bastard.”
Cursing nonstop, even though the surrounding classmates had no idea what was going on, they could all tell that Jiaqi’s emotional state was extremely stable right now.
“Why is he… that worked up?”
The little Demon Lord tilted her head. The question had only just popped up in her mind for a few seconds before she had already imagined the answer herself.
‘Oh right, he treats Little Ya like a little sister too. Of course he’d be worked up.’
“Sometimes I genuinely can’t tell whether you’re actually stupid or just pretending to be stupid…”
With both hands gripping Jiaqi’s shoulders and holding this cursing maniac back, Yuki heard Eiru’s question and felt utterly exhausted for a moment.
Not a single one of them was worry-free. Muttering that complaint inwardly, Yuki had no other choice and leaned close to Jiaqi’s ear to quietly remind him.
“Jiaqi, if you don’t calm down, and Lu Brat notices something’s off later, the one getting slaughtered might be you.”
He had to admit, the effect of those words was immediate. Jiaqi instantly settled down. When he looked at his childhood friend again, there was a bit more wariness and concern in his gaze.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Stupid Yuki, did you badmouth me to him?”

Noticing Jiaqi’s look, Her Majesty the Demon Lord grew a little displeased. Before Yuki could say anything, Jiaqi hurriedly jumped in to smooth things over.
“No no, Yuki was just telling me to calm down…”
He might have been glossing it over out loud, but in his heart, Jiaqi had already sliced that little bastard who dared to hit on his precious childhood sweetheart into a thousand pieces.
‘Where did this little shit come from, trying to take advantage of Little Ya while she doesn’t understand anything yet? If I ever see you, only one person is walking away from that scene.’
“So you really do dote on Little Ya a lot, huh. You’re even more like her real big brother than I am…”
Letting out a yawn, Eiru felt that when she first heard the news, her reaction had not been anywhere near as exaggerated as Jiaqi’s.
Even though you usually bicker and mess around, the two of you really do get along pretty well. Getting this worked up now, who knows how hard Stupid Qi will explode if Little Ya really does get married someday.
Patiently explaining the current situation to Jiaqi, after all, there was no conclusion yet on whether Eiya was actually dating anyone. Yuki held the same view, especially knowing that this certain girl never learned the good stuff and only copied her older sister.
Back then, he himself had all kinds of misunderstandings, causing their relationship to take quite a few detours. With Eiru as an example, if Eiya really learned these things from her, then often staying around boys was not necessarily anything strange.
The only thing to watch out for was not letting that stupid girl make the same absurd, self-sacrificing mistakes her sister had. But unlike her embarrassing older sister who called herself a macho man all day, at least Eiya still had a sense of self-awareness and restraint as a girl. In that regard, she was far better than Eiru.
“Little Demon Lord, someone’s looking for you outside. It’s a junior.”

Just as they were exchanging opinions about the matter, a classmate sitting at the classroom door suddenly called out to their class’s mascot.
Because of that certain girl’s title as Seventh High’s Great Demon Lord, even though everyone now knew she was just a thoroughly silly and cute girl, they could not change the habit right away. So they tweaked the title a bit and used it as a nickname for their class mascot.
“Huh? Oh okay, I’m coming.”
Being suddenly called for, Her Majesty the Demon Lord’s brain did not quite catch up. Without thinking much, she just walked out.
The moment she stepped out of the classroom and saw that unfamiliar face, the little Demon Lord, whose health was never that great, instantly felt her low blood pressure improve quite a bit.
‘Damn it, I shouldn’t have come out. What is wrong with you, you chuunibyou?’
“Wait wait wait, don’t rush… I just want to talk about something.”
Seeing her make a move to flee, Xixia quickly stopped the silver-haired girl in front of him. He really was not here to mess around today.
“Huh? Then hurry up and say it. If it’s about being your girlfriend or something, I refuse in advance. That’s not up for discussion.”
“Eh? Why? Is there some special reason? I think we’re actually pretty compatible… no, that’s not what I came to talk about.”
Almost getting led astray by the girl in front of him, Xixia quickly remembered the real reason he had come to find this Demon Lord today. He reached toward his chest with one hand and took out the pendant that had nearly been snatched away before.

“I think you should be more knowledgeable about things like this. Other people don’t really believe in it, but I believe you know that there are all kinds of strange things in this world.”
Although he had kept acting stupid and picking on her before, to be honest, Xixia felt a different kind of closeness toward Eiru. Part of it was his chuunibyou tendencies, but he genuinely believed in the existence of supernatural phenomena in this world.
He had always been ostracized and criticized for that belief. After confirming that the girl in front of him was the best proof of what he had always believed in, it was only natural for him to feel fondness and closeness toward her.
“What? It’s pretty, sure, but isn’t this just an ordinary… eh?”
Taking a closer look, the little Demon Lord did indeed sense something unusual from the pendant in his hand.
It felt a bit like magic, but not the same as Abyssal Amber. What is this? The sensation was unfamiliar yet carried a hint of familiarity. Even though she had never come into contact with anything like it before, Eiru felt that as a Demon Lord, her instincts recognized the thing in his hand.
“This was left to me by my grandfather. He said it was a divine artifact used by heroes to subjugate the Demon Lord. But I’ve never figured out what it’s for, other than letting me go unnoticed by other people.”
“So you want to ask me, the Demon Lord, how to use an anti-demon-lord item, and then use it to deal with me?”
After hearing his explanation, Her Majesty the Demon Lord’s expression became rather strange.
‘Are you okay? You want me to teach you how to use something meant to deal with me? Who in their right mind goes looking for discomfort like that, teaching someone how to deal with themselves? Why don’t you just ask me my weaknesses while you’re at it? What kind of idiot would honestly explain that sort of thing?’
While Eiru was thinking along those lines, inside the classroom, Yuki, who was still calming Jiaqi down, suddenly sneezed without any warning.

“What the hell? Is Lu Brat talking about me?”
Rubbing his nose, Yuki cast his gaze outside the classroom, looking at that petite figure chatting with someone.
“Can you stop mentioning her every three sentences? We’re talking about Little Ya right now. My wife is about to get stolen.”
“Weren’t you not sure and treating her as a little sister for now? How did she suddenly become your wife again… and think about it, what if Little Eiya doesn’t like you?”
“Huh?! Don’t say that, I don’t dare think about it.”
Clutching his head and collapsing onto the desk, Jiaqi started regretting why he had bullied Eiya so harshly before.
What Yuki said made sense. At least right now, he was still one of the people closest to Eiya, and he could at least hug her and such. If she really did not have feelings for him, and he rashly charged in, he might not even be able to keep this small privilege he currently had.
Even though he knew he was being selfish and greedy, even if Eiya did not like him, Jiaqi still wanted to keep this treatment that allowed him to be close to her.
‘At least, for now, I could still hug her, right?’
