Demon King – Chapter 9 – The Demon Lord’s Parents Are Still In The Dark
But no matter how much our Demon Lord prayed, there was no way that they wouldn’t break her phone.
With a crisp snap , the world fell silent… the phone Eiru had used for years met its end.
“Why didn’t you get rid of the phone as soon as we got in the car? If there’s GPS tracking, we’re in deep trouble.”
“Relax. This girl’s from Seventh High—probably not some goody-two-shoes. If she’s going to a slum like that, her parents probably don’t care much. Might even take them a few days to realize she’s gone…”
“Tsk tsk… wouldn’t have guessed.”
The traffickers chatted casually in the car, while Eiru paid no attention to their conversation—she was too heartbroken over her phone. Or more accurately, over the game data inside it.
The van with black-tinted windows carried them out of the city and into another…
“You little brat. Got your freedom now, huh? Won’t pick up the phone and just hide from us.” Eiru’s mother slammed her phone onto the couch in frustration.
“It got worse as he grew up. No sense of family at all. We came all this way and he just ran off. Ugh…” Eiru’s father sighed, clearly disappointed.
“Forget it, if he doesn’t want to come home, let’s just go.” Eiya never had high hopes for her brother, but this behavior was a new low.
“Such a damn brat. Only learned bad things. Runs and runs—might as well die out there.”
Hearing that, Eiru’s father frowned but said nothing. After all, people say all kinds of things when angry.
With no better option, the family packed up and decided to head back to their home in the West District.
“You didn’t notice? That brat’s whole place—especially his room—reeked of a girl. Who knows which poor girl he’s charmed this time.” On their way down, Eiru’s mother continued venting to her husband, who stayed silent, helping Grandma down the stairs slowly.
“Nothing but thugs in that school. Probably some delinquent girl again. If he’d just focus on his studies, get a decent job, wouldn’t girls come flocking to him?”

“Mom… that’s enough,” Eiya tried to mediate. All the nagging was annoying, but worse, it could affect how neighbors viewed them.
“Okay, okay… I’ll stop. I’ll listen to my little Eiya.” Eiru’s mother reached out to pat Eiya’s head.
“If only we’d had another daughter instead… Boys are too wild and hard to handle. Should’ve given you a big sister.”
“Mom…”
“Alright, alright, I’ll stop.”
Once downstairs, Eiru’s father fetched the car while Eiya and her mother helped Grandma into it…
“Hmm? Lao Hui?” Eiru’s father suddenly heard someone calling him. He turned to see a familiar face.
“Hey… Officer Li! What are you doing here? Haven’t seen you in, what, two or three years?” Eiru’s father greeted him warmly. If Eiru had been there, she would’ve recognized the man—he was the same officer that knew her true form.
“I was transferred here recently. Been working elsewhere before.” Officer Li had just been passing by, wanting to check on the little demon girl, and didn’t expect to run into an old friend.
“Are you guys heading out for a trip? If I’d known you lived nearby, I’d have taken you out for a drink.”
“Not quite. My son’s renting a place here since he goes to school nearby. We just came to check in on him. Eiya, come greet the officer.”
“Hello, Uncle…” Eiya greeted politely.
“Ah, your daughter? Looks like a good one… But your son’s not around to see you off?”
“Don’t get me started. He goes to school nearby, and we told him to come home every weekend. But the brat didn’t want to, so he ran off. Sigh… he gets harder and harder to manage the older he gets…”
As he listened, Officer Li suddenly thought of a certain little demon lord… The déjà vu was strong enough for him to ask:

“Your son… is his name Eiru? Goes to Seventh High?”
“Yeah, he’s a first-year. Why? Is he in trouble with the law? That brat…”
“No, no,” Officer Li quickly waved it off. “I’ve just met him a couple of times. Seemed like a good kid…”
“Eh… I know my son. If he causes trouble, I’d ask you to cut him some slack, Officer Li. Anyway, we’ve got to go. We live in the West District—come visit sometime, drinks are on me.”
“Alright, I’ll drop by sometime.”
The two parted ways, and Eiru’s father drove off with his family. Officer Li, however, stood rooted in place, deep in thought.
He hadn’t expected the little demon girl to be the child of an old friend… That morning she had been fretting over how to go home—there’s no way she’d just disappear to avoid her family.
Years of experience told Officer Li that something had happened to Eiru.
Earlier that day, he’d gotten her number. Now seemed like the right time to use it.
He pulled out his phone and dialed—but only heard, “The number you have dialed is not available right now.”
His instincts screamed that something was wrong.
He turned on his heel and rushed back to the precinct…
“Officer Li, didn’t you already clock out? Forget something?” His colleagues were surprised to see him back.
“We’ve got a situation. Can you pull today’s surveillance footage for this area?”
His serious tone got everyone moving quickly. Before long, the nearby security footage was up.

Scrubbing through the timeline, Officer Li found Eiru. She passed through an alley not covered by cameras… and then vanished.
“Officer Li, this isn’t the same boy from this morning, right? Is that who you’re looking for?”
“No… pause it. Track that little girl.”
As they followed the footage, they saw the silver-haired girl being chatted up by a middle-aged woman. The two walked together for quite a while…
Eventually, they parted at an intersection. The girl entered another blind spot—and never came out.
Switching to another camera within the alley, they found no trace of her.
“Rewind it… watch closely.” Li’s eyes were sharp.
In the footage, the woman suddenly ran toward the direction of the girl. After both left the frame, neither was seen again.
“That van—focus on it.”
Multiple angles showed the same blacked-out van creeping along behind the two. It stayed in the camera’s blind spot for a suspicious amount of time—exactly when the girl disappeared.
Then, after the woman ran over, the van sped off.
“Track that van! Now!” The officers jumped into action.
It was obvious—the girl had been abducted.
“You know her, Officer Li?” a young cop asked.
“She’s the daughter of an old friend… He still thinks that she just didn’t want to come home.”

“Man, parents these days… So careless. If you hadn’t noticed, she might’ve been gone forever.”
“Focus. That van might’ve left the city already. The longer we wait, the harder it’ll be to track. I’ll call her father…”
Who knows how much time had passed?
When the world regained its colors, and Eiru opened her eyes… well, it was still pitch black.
She was locked up—again. Probably in some warehouse.
Her body was limp, her head dizzy… and she had no clue how long it had been.
She must’ve dozed off even after regaining consciousness in the van. Classic.
Thanks to her body’s night vision, she could barely make out the outline of the place. Not many goods stacked around. No other people. Was this a transfer hub? Or just a small operation?
Maybe they’d already found a buyer? Or worse—already made the sale?
Whatever. The point was—she was awake.
And that meant it was time.
Today! I, Eiru, the Demon Lord, will tear this place to the ground!
In memory of my fallen phone… and my game data.
