Furcas’s Observation Diary

My name’s Furcas. I’m learning sorcery from Archdemon Zagan! A whole lot goes on in Zagan’s castle, so I’ve decided to write a diary to document my stay. I’ll start by writing about the first guy I got along with, Kimaris.

Kimaris is a leonin sorcerer and a really nice guy! Not only that, but he’s Zagan’s right-hand man! He’s amazing! And yet, he looks after a newbie like me without getting upset at all. He’s so kind.

Whenever the sorcerers in the castle have a fight or something, Kimaris suddenly appears and mediates for them. Listening to him talk with his gentle smile is usually enough to stop the fighting before anyone realizes.

I don’t really understand it myself, but according to Kimaris, everyone here is nice, so all he really has to do is give them the time to calm down. I mean, the sorcerers seem teary-eyed after the fact, so can you really call that calming down?

Oh, right, Kimaris apparently has a girlfriend named Gremory. I still haven’t met her, but I’m told she’s a very pretty lady. When I tried asking Kimaris about her, the usually taciturn leonin suddenly became talkative.

It turns out she usually spends a lot of time bothering the people around her, but is actually really kind and good at looking after others. But because she gets all embarrassed if you thank her honestly, she acts ridiculously all the time. Kimaris was saved by her in the past, and has been with her ever since.

Gremory can apparently transform into both an old woman and a child, and also has a form she only shows Kimaris. That got me curious. Apparently, she can turn into a girl in her late teens and is really obstinate in that form, but also really honest, and also really cute! I’m sure she’s a wonderful person, just like Lilith.

They say she’ll be back in two or three days. Much like Kimaris, she’s one of Zagan’s closest confidants. I’m really looking forward to meeting her! I’ll do my best so that Lilith and I can get along just as well as those two!

The Scary Siren

That siren sure is scary... Oh, I’m Furcas, a boy who’s learning sorcery from Archdemon Zagan.

There’s a girl I like. Her name is Lilith, and she’s apparently the princess of the succubi. I’ve already confessed my feelings to her, but she hasn’t given me a reply yet. As for the scary siren, well, she’s Lilith’s best friend, Selphy.

Selphy always goes around with a great big smile and gets along with everyone...or at least, that’s what it looks like from the outside. She does smile when she talks to me, but something about it really scares me.

Speaking of, the butler Raphael’s face is also scary, but it’s a different kind of scary, if that makes any sense. He’s a nice guy. When Selphy smiles, it’s like she’s smiling, but not, and I feel like I could drop dead at any moment.

I guess that, much like everyone else in Zagan’s castle, Selphy looks like a totally ordinary person but is actually some kind of super-strong monster. With that thought in mind, I tried asking Lilith about it, and she fully convinced me that was the case.

Selphy inherited a Sacred Treasure from a country called Liucaon, and is the ruler of the seas! She can cause whirlpools to sink ships and erect a barrier around the entire nation to keep anyone with hostile intentions from getting close. I’m sure she’s something like the secret boss of this castle.

Why would someone like that turn such naked hostility toward me? I guess it’s because I’m a newbie, and she’s testing whether I’m worthy of being here. I’m going to become a man who will protect Lilith properly! I might be weak now, but I’ll definitely get stronger. To that end, I’ll do anything.

As such, I tried starting out by helping Lilith with her work and being useful, but...I think that just made the siren even angrier or something, and it really, really, feels like she’s going to kill me. It looks like it’s going to be really hard to get her to acknowledge me.

And so, in hopes of getting Selphy to accept me, I’m going to spend today helping Lilith out again.

Do Angelic Knights and Sorcerers Actually Get Along Really Well?

Yo, I’m Furcas, a newbie who’s learning sorcery at Zagan’s castle!

The other day, a woman named Chastille stopped by. She’s Nephy’s friend and seems to get along with her daughter Foll. When the little girl showed her a spider, Chastille squealed while running about. It was so wonderful to see an adult play along with a child’s games!

But Chastille is an Angelic Knight, and a really important one at that. Nephy doesn’t seem to know a lot about sorcerers, but is it really okay for an Archdemon’s girlfriend to get along with a big shot Angelic Knight like that?

Well, that doesn’t really matter. It seemed a sorcerer was hiding in Chastille’s shadow at the time. I could feel a really strong presence within it. Was she really okay? I tried asking Zagan about it with that thought in mind...and it turned out the person in her shadow was Chastille’s guard, and he was Zagan’s friend at that.

Does that mean a sorcerer on par with Zagan is Chastille’s exclusive guard? Why? Angelic Knights and sorcerers are supposed to be at each other’s throats. I found that really weird, and finally figured out why he stayed in there today.

Lilith was late returning to the castle, so I got Kimaris’s permission to go pick her up in town. When I got there, I found Lilith and Chastille talking in a restaurant. I didn’t want to get in the way, so I waited outside for them to finish. After about an hour, something happened, and the shadow man came out.

When he did, how to even put it... He and Chastille started flirting like crazy. It looked like they were arguing over something at first, so I tried reading their lips through the window. Once I did, I found out they’d been talking about birthday presents. It was probably something about a present for one or the other, but they were so serious that it turned into a major argument.

Despite looking like they were fighting, they seemed super close, and in the end, the shadow man took Chastille into his arms! Not only that, but he did it so naturally! Maybe he was actually even bolder than Zagan. What’s more, he didn’t care about all the onlookers inside and scooped her up like a princess. That’s Zagan’s best friend for you. I felt embarrassed just watching. This shadow man is amazing.

Even a sorcerer and Angelic Knight can love each other... I don’t have the courage to touch Lilith like that yet, but one day, if I ever end up going out with her, I’d like to be like them. Next time I get the chance, maybe I’ll ask the shadow man for advice. He might not spare me his time, since I’m just a newbie and all, but I still want to tell him how much I respect his boldness.
