Unit 5 placed a hand on the Round Table.
It was to speak with Merlin—who was inside ‘the ornament’.
「My liege. I trust you are in fine spirits today.」
Abel, wearing the guise of a magician, smiled. The staff slung over his shoulder suited him perfectly.
「Ha. By the way—have you cast Alexandros III yet?」
「But of course! Lucius Tiberius had a general named Leo. We shall grant Alexandros III the role of Leo.」
「Does he have any legends attached to him?」
「No. None at all. Leo is merely a name. Geoffrey of Monmouth’s text doesn’t even describe what sort of general he was.—However!」
Merlin grinned, mischievous.
「Leo has a model. The real Roman emperor Leo I. He hailed from Thrace—the very land once ruled by Macedonian Alexander III. A man of the Leonid dynasty, built chiefly upon foreign peoples: the Thracians and Isaurians, once called Barbaroi.」
「An emperor of the Barbaroi. So that’s why Leo. Got it.」
