Chapter 284: Force Field Effect
Chapter 284: Force Field Effect
Then, in the Sea of Consciousness, the five colors and five essences within the Thunder Pool gradually merged, followed by a vast expanse of silver waves. Although it was clearly just a shallow well, it gave people a sense of profundity and mystery like a vast ocean.
Suddenly, silver threads leaped within the Thunder Pool, immediately followed by a sound like the low roar of a Kui bull: “Boom! Boom, boom!” The sound went from near to far, growing from small to loud!
This sound was accompanied by a thunderous explosion, as if the entire Sea of Consciousness was shaking because of it. The fluctuations, like those at the very beginning of the primordial world, seemed to spread throughout the entire Meta-Universe. And George’s own Soul was undergoing the test of this sound at every moment. All he could do now was guard his true heart and let this sound, mixed with extinction and growth, baptize him.
And the ancient bluestone well, originally transformed from the Thunderbird Spirit, also shone brightly amidst the flashing thunder light. Rune after rune and Array formations were organized onto the surface, which was originally almost empty. Eye thunder patterns, triangular thunder patterns, wave thunder patterns, diagonal thunder patterns, nipple nail thunder patterns, hundred nipple thunder patterns, and linked thunder patterns were outlined and organized one by one like silver threads—just like this, they were branded onto the Thunder Pool.
Immediately afterwards, the structure of the Thunder Pool, which had originally been like earth and stone, seemed to have been re-smelted amidst these changes. It was as if it had undergone the transmutation of Alchemy, turning into a silver-white metal suffused with a purple halo. This complemented the purple energy churning above the shimmering liquid in the Thunder Pool.
At the same time, the Tower Reaching the Sky in the void, which represented the essence of George’s Soul, had been completely remodeled. The building, which originally appeared mixed due to the Blessing of Wisdom, now had a vermilion dome, looking like part of an exquisite palace. The columns and beams of the tower body were even built using magnificent silver as the main body.
Piling earth to make an altar, gathering fur to make a coat. The altar originally located inside the pagoda also underwent changes due to this incident. Countless ancient divine runes resembling bird seal scripts and worm scripts piled up layer by layer, decorating the altar anew. Then, a new statue appeared on the altar, which was a Thunderbird spreading its wings high in flight.
After all, the main body of George’s Thunder Pool now was the Thunderbird Spirit that had been nurtured for over a year. Even after such earth-shaking changes, it could not completely wear away the traces of the other party’s past existence.
In fact, after such a change, the Spirit, which was originally in its juvenile stage, became a Totem Beast capable of receiving sacrifices. Similarly, a Thunder Rune Beast Seal grew within the thunder water, suspended above the Thunder Pool.
This Beast Seal belonged entirely to George; if he wasn’t afraid of death, he could even go to the gathering places of the Barbarians in the north to make some moves. Because the tribes there did not believe in the True God, but had rather complex concepts of the Soul. Under the domination of the belief that all things have spirits, they mainly worshipped the ancestral spirits of their clans or tribes, combined with nature worship and totem worship.
Precisely because the objects of their worship were extremely extensive, including various gods, plants and animals, as well as inanimate natural objects and natural phenomena. There were no written classics, no religious organizations or specific founders, no temples, and no unified, standardized religious rituals. The position of the Wizard was often passed down from generation to generation within the tribe’s clan through oral instruction and personal reception.
Therefore, wanting to add a new member to the faith totems spread across the wasteland. If operated properly, it was not impossible, which meant that George had the possibility to extract the power of faith in advance. By then, sacrificing to this totem would be equivalent to sacrificing to George, and in the future, he would be able to harvest pious faith and flesh and blood endlessly. If George desired to become a god in the future, this step would be too beneficial for ascending the divine altar.
Of course, any non-divine existence directly extracting faith was considered an act of undermining the gods. What awaited him was often the joint pursuit of numerous Churches, regardless of their stance. Although totem faith did not belong to the category of “False God,” which the Deities loathed the most. But even if George knew of this feasible plan, he would never dare to take such a risk. Moreover, he did not have the knowledge regarding this aspect!
In fact, since his rebirth, George had never thought that he could ascend the divine altar. Because, after all, before crossing over, he was just a cautious and ordinary small citizen. Although his hobbies were somewhat different from most young people, he was ultimately a member of the ordinary people. Plus, he had long passed the “Chuunibyou” phase where “Heaven is the boss, and I’m the second”; with a mature psychology, he would not make some too unrealistic fantasies. And in this world, the characters and information he came into contact with did not arouse this kind of longing in him either.
Of course, even if he didn’t prepare to raise the throne high, it didn’t mean that this Thunderbird Totem was useless. As the saying goes, “A thousand fingers pointing, one dies without illness; the ballad of a lucky star, the incense of a living Buddha in ten thousand homes.” The will and hope of the people were another form of unintentional faith, often purer and more unified. However, this faith energy, which could not be noticed by the gods, originally only lingered around George. But at this moment, it was as if it had found an outlet to vent.
Using the flesh body as a furnace, faith as fuel, breathing and exhaling as wind, and condensing Qi and blood as the cornerstone. Strands of black Qi, bad luck, Yin Qi, and foul Qi overflowed from George’s pores. At this time, paired with George’s posture of sitting quietly to nourish his spirit, he absorbed the clear Qi between heaven and earth into his body, truly achieving the state of unity between heaven and man within a short period.
In fact, if there was the slightest error in the construction process of the Thunder Pool in the inner world, the consequence would be internal fire burning the body, and the body perishing and the spirit vanishing. However, George had already undergone repeated deductions in the Sea of Consciousness beforehand, and with the existence of the System by his side, he dared to take a gamble. Of course, the most important thing was that the assassination during the day had given George too much stimulation.
Although he had already escaped death, the shadow of death still hung over George’s head. Although the strength of the several Knights in the Territory was quite powerful, they could not guarantee that they could protect him all day long. Moreover, those killers lurking in the shadows were true experts at utilizing opportunities. Unless Sir Val and the others could truly solve the matter from the source through their actions. Otherwise, George would have to be on full alert at all times for a long time to come.
Although assassinating the Heir of a Knight family was a taboo in the Western Continent, there were always some madmen who would attempt to challenge such a high-voltage line. Even if the other party’s organization was eventually exterminated by the Knights avenging him, so what. George didn’t want his name to be labeled with the title of dying young.
Besides, this attack might have some connection with those Black Skins. If that were really the case, George dared not count on how many fearless warriors would go to the Underground Underdark to avenge him to preserve the dignity of the entire Knight class.
After all, as long as one is human, one is flexible; when the price paid is too great, anyone would hesitate before acting. At that time, at most there would be public outrage, and it was more likely that a Knight volunteer army would be organized to kill these Black Skins on the Continent back Underground to finish the matter.
George, thinking of his own little life, had to take a gamble tonight. Because the assassin earlier not only failed in the assassination but also suffered not light injuries. Even if the other party wanted to send a new assassin to take over the previous mission, there was not enough time.
After completing the initial mission, George gradually constructed other ancillary facilities of the Thunder Pool in the inner world. With the support of those thirty-six unique thunder patterns, the Small Tiangang Thunder Palace in the inner world was formed, thereby promoting his own sublimation and metamorphosis.
Just like a caterpillar breaking its cocoon into a butterfly and flying off the branch, dancing among the leaves. Or a young bird leaving its mother’s shelter, building a bird’s nest at the top of the tree. All these changes were just like the evolution of life.
At the same time, the foundation of George’s Thunder Method this time was the Five Thunder Righteous Method, in which the five thunders corresponded to the five internal organs. Therefore, when this Thunder Method was accomplished, his own five internal organs also underwent changes.
The Heart was located in the chest cavity, slightly to the left, above the diaphragm, and below the lungs; it was round at the top and pointed at the bottom, shaped like a lotus stamen, and guarded by the pericardium on the outside. The Heart, together with the small intestine, vessels, face, tongue, etc., constituted the Heart system. The Heart belonged to Fire in the Five Elements, was a Yang organ within Yang, governed the blood vessels, stored the spirit and will, and was the great master of the five internal organs and six bowels, the master of life. The Heart corresponded to summer in the four seasons.
The Lungs were located in the chest, one on each side, lobed in shape, and loose in texture. They lived above the diaphragm together with the Heart, connected to the trachea above, opened into the nose, and communicated directly with the atmosphere of nature. Together with the large intestine, skin, hair, nose, etc., they constituted the Lung system. In the Five Elements, they belonged to Metal and were a Yin organ within Yang. They governed Qi and controlled breathing, assisted the Heart in circulating blood, and regulated water passages. Among the five internal organs and six bowels, they occupied the highest position and were the head of the five internal organs. The Lungs corresponded to autumn in the four seasons.
The Spleen was located in the upper part of the abdominal cavity, below the diaphragm, and connected to the stomach by a membrane; “shaped like a dog’s tongue, appearing like a chicken’s comb,” it constituted the Spleen system together with the stomach, flesh, lips, mouth, etc. It governed transportation and transformation, controlled blood, and distributed the essence of water and grain; it was the source of Qi and blood generation, and all the internal organs and limbs of the human body relied on the Spleen for nourishment, hence it was called the root of postnatal life. In the Five Elements, it belonged to Earth and was the ultimate Yin within Yin. The Spleen corresponded to late summer in the four seasons.
The Liver was located in the abdomen, below the diaphragm, under the right ribs but slightly to the left. It constituted the Liver system together with the gallbladder, eyes, tendons, nails, etc. It governed free flow and storage, liked to stretch and disliked depression, with a Yin body and Yang function. In the Five Elements, it belonged to Wood and was Yang within Yin. The Liver corresponded to spring in the four seasons.
The Kidneys were located on both sides of the lumbar spine, one on the left and one on the right, with the right one slightly lower and the left one slightly higher; the shape was oval and curved, like a cowpea. They constituted the Kidney system together with the bladder, bone marrow, brain, hair, ears, etc. They governed the storage of essence, the management of water fluids, and the reception of Qi; they were the root of Yin and Yang of the human organs and the source of life, hence called the root of prenatal life; in the Five Elements, they belonged to Water and were Yang within Yin. They corresponded to winter in the four seasons.
After the thunder connected those five, the cycle of life between them was further strengthened. It brought out another aspect of function! That was removing the dross and keeping the essence, starting the overall evolution, and beginning to eliminate impurities.
This was the promoting change from the Heart to the body. At the same time, because the internal organs attached to the five elements within the human body were coordinated. A large amount of waste was transported to the lungs and bladder along with the blood pumped out by the heart.
Then George’s breathing became more steady than before, but the gas exhaled also became more foul-smelling. At the same time, the waste dialyzed by the kidney water also continuously gathered towards the bladder.
Similarly, this sublimation within the internal organs also had a special impact on the whole of the flesh body. This was like two people running hand in hand; if one runs fast, they will pull the slower one forward. In the first fourteen years in this world, George had always had the growth of his flesh body faster than his five internal organs. When the Thunder Method was first accomplished, it only made the two equal, allowing the five internal organs to feed back the flesh body.
Today, finally, the five internal organs took on the role of the locomotive, leading the way in front. What made George even more unexpected was that some special abilities hidden in his bloodline were also activated just like this. That treasure buried for many years would show its dazzling style to the world starting today.
Of course, the result of this night’s cultivation meant that George’s bedroom had to undergo long-term ventilation and aromatherapy before anyone could live in it. That smell like a sewer that hadn’t been cleaned for years was truly nauseating. And all the bedding had to be washed, or more likely thrown into the incinerator—wanting to thoroughly clean the smell off them was not an easy task.
As for taking a bath at night, that was a small matter; every breakthrough George made was inevitably accompanied by this series of troubles. It was just that this time it was particularly intense. George didn’t expect that after so many sessions of muscle washing and marrow cleansing, there would still be so much waste in his body.
In fact, waste in the human body was constantly being produced, even though George’s daily cultivation tried its best to eliminate it. But when his skills were not yet perfect, there would inevitably be some residue. Of course, this time it wasn’t just a problem of previous residue. The waste produced by the rapid metabolism of the five internal organs during the night also accounted for a considerable proportion.
As the saying goes, you take a mule or a horse out for a walk to see what it’s made of; George, who felt his Five Thunder Righteous Method was basically accomplished, naturally wanted to test the effects properly. Early in the morning, George found a target in his own training ground to test his blade.
During the swings, the most obvious thing was that the characteristic “crackling” sound of thunder had disappeared—this was somewhat like the Silent Divine Thunder, which was the unique thunder pellet of Ying Mu in Shushan, exploding silently. Even more strange was that, in addition to the thunder, there seemed to be an additional slashing and piercing effect mixed in.
After repeated confirmations by George, he found that this newly added effect within the thunder seemed to be of the Force Field attribute. This was an unexpected surprise for George! And this surprise was not a small one; it was like a double color ball second prize turning into a special prize.
The so-called Force Field was a sensible spatial variation formed by a special form of energy. A Force Field was not matter nor energy, but only a sensible and effective force action. Therefore, a Force Field wall was not an unbreakable glass wall, but only an invisible force that made people feel resistance as if there was a wall in front. The damage caused by a Force Field was similar to physical damage in terms of results, but damage reduction did not work on it, because the Force Field effect was essentially not material; it only caused a result of “imposing change on matter.” Therefore, most energy resistances were also unable to act on Force Field damage.
Speaking of this, one had to mention Sir Bart in the Territory. Uncle David’s greatest expectation was to get a reinforced Force Energy Composite Longbow that could be passed down in his family! However, until now, his wish had not been realized; it was said that the Mages mastering that technology were too few, and the success rate was not high.
A projectile weapon attached with Force Field ability would convert its ammunition into a Force Field attack. This kind of attack automatically overcame damage reduction and had no miss rate when attacking intangible targets, but it could not cause damage to creatures immune to Force Field effects. Of course, the damage of a Force Field attack was the same as the ordinary version of the ammunition.
Archers often had relatively low damage per arrow, which usually made them hate damage reduction to the point of madness. Through Force Field Enchantment, this small second-order Enchantment made you completely ignore any damage reduction, unless it was a Legendary Force Dragon.
Not only that, with no miss rate against intangible and spiritual bodies, spells like Wind Wall, the natural enemy of archers, lost their use in front of the Force Field. Through this Enchantment, any archer could solve the three big mountains they were about to face.
Of course, good things were rare and expensive; George didn’t expect that he now possessed such ability himself.
“I don’t know if Sir Bart would not go crazy with jealousy after knowing this, but judging by the current situation, I have no way to use this ability remotely. I guess it won’t make him envious, jealous, and hateful! Forget it, let’s uncover this trump card after a while! For those guys who are everywhere, maybe one day I’ll have to rely on this thing to save my life!” Having made his decision, George naturally began to personally deal with the destroyed target. He prepared to clear away any clues that might provide leads for the enemy.
Then, for a period of time, George also spent time understanding—the Swordsman, his possible martial arts instructor for the coming period!
Unlike Knights who entered the ruling class, Swordsmen had their own guilds, just like stonemasons and Blacksmiths. This guild established strict Ranks for the Swordsmen under it according to strength and experience, starting from the apprentice who had just entered: Sword Apprentice (Gray Rock Rank), Sword Fighter (Gray Rock Rank Peak), Swordsman (Red Iron Rank), Great Swordsman (Black Lead Rank), Sword Master (Black Lead Rank Peak), Great Sword Master (Bronze Rank), as well as the legendary Sword Smith and Sword Saint. Sword Smith was already a Master level title, while Sword Saint was able to achieve the Bronze Rank Peak inheritance.
After a relatively systematic understanding, George had a partial understanding of Sir Fukna’s previous words: “Bronze Peak? Going up from there would be the Silver Rank Legend, right! Although no Legend has appeared among Swordsmen, true Legends are a minority after all!”
It was no wonder that Knights, who had even appeared at the Resplendent Rank, would look down on those Swordsmen; the gap between the two could not be measured by reason. But in reality, the Master level was the highest level that humans could touch; going further up was the legendary realm that only one in a million Children of Destiny could achieve.
Actually, for humans, a Paragon level existence at the Black Lead Rank was already a Rank that exceeded the human limit. Many Duchies with a population of over a hundred thousand often had no more than a hundred Paragon existences in total, and a Master level existence was a national treasure. The establishment of many royal families often relied on the assistance of a Master level martial force.
Of course, something extraordinary like the Duchy of Nohan was just an isolated case. However, when the day came that a great enemy threatening the survival of the human race arrived, the Duchy of Nohan might just disappear, and the banners of the North Wind Knight Group would flutter on the Continent once again.
