The closer the royal convoy came to Helmarte's eastern district, the more apparent the sheer scale of the undertaking became.

What had once been an ordinary section of the capital had transformed almost overnight into an enormous construction zone. Temporary wooden fences enclosed several city blocks, while banners bearing the royal crest fluttered beside the crimson-and-gold standard of House Teucher. Hundreds of workers in clean uniforms stood in orderly formations behind the barriers, each group representing one of the many organizations participating in the reconstruction.
