Volume 2, Chapter 33 – Noreen
Volume 2, Chapter 33 – Noreen
“Sister…”
A chill instantly spread from the soles of her feet to her entire body. Estelle’s face showed two completely opposite emotions at once: joy and fear. Although she couldn’t stop the sweat from seeping out of her back, Estelle still chose to take a step forward.
The figure standing in front of her was her long-awaited sister. Both her body’s silhouette and her posture were exactly the same as the Noreen in Estelle’s memories. She could be sure that this was indeed her sister, Noreen Oro.
In the hazy rain, the two sisters stood facing each other.
Her throat involuntarily bobbed, and Estelle tried to touch Noreen. She slightly leaned forward, her eyes fixated on Noreen and nothing else.
“…Sister.”
There was no reply. Noreen, standing on the ruins, just hung her arms motionlessly. But that was enough to make Estelle happy. She had not, as before, attacked Estelle without a word. This meant that she was reacting to Estelle’s presence and still had some sanity.
Fia, holding the longsword she had taken from Estelle, remained merged with the environment and waited for the right moment. To avoid being discovered, she had flown into the air when the surrounding walls collapsed. As long as Noreen didn’t look up carefully, she wouldn’t notice a spot in the air where it wasn’t raining.
Estelle continued to move towards Noreen.
“Sister, it’s me, Estelle. Don’t… Don’t you remember me?”
“…”
Still no answer.

The anxiety in her heart made Estelle take another step forward.
She was now within a distance where Noreen could cut her with her sword if she extended her arm.
Her mind tensed to its limit, and Fia held her breath, ready to rush out at any moment.
As if she could no longer stand Noreen’s lack of reaction, Estelle simply extended her hand towards Noreen’s face.
“Sister Noreen!”
A sword’s gleam flashed in the rain.
Following it was the sharp, jarring sound of a metal object cutting through the air.
At that moment, Noreen’s sword had passed by Estelle. What was strange, however, was that the incredibly sharp blade had not cut Estelle’s hand. It had only cut off a lock of Estelle’s golden hair.
Fia forcefully suppressed her desire to rush over and help.
Estelle is being too reckless.
But what’s wrong with Noreen?

Noreen’s sword could have clearly cut Estelle’s body, but it had suddenly changed its trajectory midway through, as if two souls existed within Noreen’s body, and these two souls were fighting for control of the body.
Without a doubt, Noreen was a member of chaos and was no longer a pure-blooded vampire. If she could continue to remain in the form of a mindless monster that just kills, that would be one thing. But if she still had a lot of Noreen’s consciousness, things would become tricky—killing a monster with the appearance of your sister and killing your sister who had turned into a monster were two different concepts.
Noreen’s sword had clearly scared Estelle. The latter’s breathing had hitched, and her shoulders trembled for a moment. However, when she realized that Noreen’s sword had not harmed her, the fear on her face turned into joy. Noreen’s sword had not swung at her, which meant Noreen had recognized her as her sister. With almost no hesitation, Estelle, with a face full of delight, excitedly extended her hands, trying to hug Noreen.
However.
“Estelle!”
Along with Fia’s shout, the dull sound of a sharp object piercing flesh echoed in the heavy rain.
The moment Estelle hugged Noreen, the sword in Noreen’s hand pierced Estelle’s chest. The tip of the sword came out of Estelle’s back. The sharp and slender silhouette sent a jolt to Fia’s heart.
Blood, washed by the rain, slid down the blade. Estelle’s chest was quickly dyed red with blood. Her eyes wide, she looked at Noreen behind the veil and opened her mouth, as if she wanted to say something. But because her lungs and windpipe had been pierced, she couldn’t make a sound. All that was left was a look of disbelief on her face.
Too close.
Damn it.
Without time to dispel her camouflage, Fia arrived at Estelle’s side in the blink of an eye. A spatial hand grabbed Noreen and squeezed hard.
“Estelle!”

“Ugh…”
Fia held Estelle, who was about to fall to the ground. Fia’s gaze fell on the longsword in Estelle’s chest. Without thinking, she pulled the sword, which was still spurting blood, out.
Although this would cause secondary injury, with healing magic, there was no need to worry.
The blue light symbolizing [Elementary Hydration Spell] flashed. The wound on Estelle’s chest healed at a speed visible to the naked eye. Fia then dispelled her camouflage.
Noreen has no sanity left.
After conveying these words to Estelle, Fia put Estelle down and turned to face Noreen, who was ten meters away.
Noreen was clearly wary of her.
Although Fia couldn’t see Noreen’s expression, she could feel that she was being watched by Noreen. As if it had sensed the upcoming battle, the chaos around Noreen was flowing with a louder sound than before, gathering around her like a wave in the ocean.
“I have to hand it to you for having the courage to face me.”
Fia’s eyes narrowed, and she slowly stepped forward, holding the longsword.
Seeing that Noreen still didn’t respond, Fia continued in a low voice.
“Why would you do something so cruel to your own sister? According to Estelle’s description, you were the person she trusted the most. As the successor to the next Count Oro, what good does it do you to destroy your own territory?”

Still, there was no response. However, Fia noticed that Noreen’s body moved slightly, as if she had reacted to her words.
She has no ability to speak, huh.
But with things having developed to this point, there was only one path left for Noreen to take: death. Someone had to be held responsible for the deaths of two hundred thousand people. She couldn’t rely on Estelle. She would have to deal with Noreen herself. Even if this went against her agreement with Estelle, she could not let the current Estelle do something as cruel as fighting her own sister.
Realizing this, a cold glint appeared in Fia’s eyes.
“I commend your courage for not running away, but if you think that the rain will weaken my strength, you are underestimating me too much!”
As her voice fell, Fia disappeared from where she was. Before the sound of the sonic boom could reach Noreen’s ears, Fia had already appeared in front of Noreen. The fight last night had made Fia realize that Noreen did not have the ability to create infinite doppelgangers like the Despair Demon General. As long as she captured the current Noreen, she would not be able to appear anywhere else.
Appearing to Noreen’s side, she then swung the sword at Noreen’s right hand, which was holding a sword.
At the same time, a sea of fireballs flew in from a distance.
Noreen’s reaction speed was completely unable to keep up with Fia’s. After Fia cut off Noreen’s right arm, which was made of chaos, Noreen only then commanded chaos to form a shield wall. However, even with the shield wall formed, it was no match for the bombardment of the fireballs. The writhing black wall was quickly torn to shreds. After that, the spatial hand Fia was controlling redirected the fireballs that were shooting at Noreen to the sides, where they entered the sea of chaos in the ruins.
As if a depth charge had been dropped into a deep abyss, the black mucus was helplessly blasted into the sky amidst the roar of the explosion. The high temperature and rain mixed together, making a sharp sizzling sound.
The rising white mist, mixed with the water droplets from the rain, obscured everyone’s vision.
