Volume 1, Chapter 42 – Immune to Fire?
[Fairy Fire]
Summoning nearly fifty slowly floating fireballs at once, Fia faced the two minotaurs with a smile and asked, “So, are you going to surrender now, or after I beat you up?”
“This is… a fourth-tier spell, [Rain of Fire]? Why is a high-level Elf magic caster helping humans?”
Clearly startled by the fireballs Fia had summoned, the two minotaurs stopped advancing, only letting out warning grunts from their nostrils.
“I have no intention of helping humans. At least to me, the Darkborn aren’t enemies and humans aren’t allies. Your standing is the same.”
“Then get out of the way.”
“Wait, brother, she is a fake.”
A fake?
Hearing that word, Fia felt a jolt, like missing a step on the stairs. Could these two minotaurs have recognized that I am from another world?
“You cunning human, fight us with your true form!”
As the voice faded, a red light shot out from the center of one of the minotaur’s horns, flying towards Fia at an angle. Instinctively, Fia commanded the prepared fireballs to barrage the two minotaurs and jumped aside to dodge the attack. But the light was as if it had eyes; it suddenly changed direction mid-flight and continued to pursue Fia.

This is bad.
The thought flashed in her mind just as the light hit Fia’s body. However, to her surprise, the powerful-looking light did nothing more than make her feel a little warm.
That is, until she caught a glimpse of her hair floating in front of her eyes.
The hair that Anastasia had dyed white with magical dye was now back to its original black.
…What?
Could they have suspected that my ‘true form’ is actually human?
For a moment, Fia, whose feet were firmly on the ground, was at a loss for words.
I gave them too much credit.
Meanwhile, Fia’s fireballs struck the two minotaurs in succession.
Unlike when she had used them against human soldiers, the normally powerful fireballs only managed to push the minotaurs back with their explosive force. They let out muffled grunts of pain, but the flames did not ignite their skin.
Upon closer inspection, Fia could see that whenever a fireball hit the minotaurs, the red crystals on their skin would flash with a brilliant red glow. It was these red crystals that rendered the flames ineffective.
Connecting this with her own Fire Immunity magic, these red crystals must also have the effect of nullifying flames.

No wonder the air temperature rose when they got closer. These guys must have been born from fire.
If I could collect the red crystals from their bodies, they would probably make an excellent fire-resistant material.
“Hmph… hmph… as expected of a high-level magic caster. If not for our affinity with fire, we would already be seriously injured, but—what? You’re still alive?”
“A black-haired elf? Not human? The [Emberflame] just revealed your true form?”
Seeing Fia standing unharmed in the rubble, the two ash-covered minotaurs widened all eight of their eyes.
“I don’t know what [Emberflame] is, but flames are ineffective against me.”
Fia gestured with her hands, completely unconcerned.
After all, her own magic clearly stated [Fire Immunity].
“Interesting. As children of fire, this is the first time we have seen an elf that is immune to flames. Since your magic is useless, let’s use strength! You weak elf!”
Fia’s claim of flame immunity ignited the fighting spirit of the two minotaurs. They burst into orange flames, and their bodies swelled. Both their speed and strength took a qualitative leap. They charged at Fia from two directions, their massive limbs creating spiderweb-like cracks in the ground with every step.
For Fia, however, the minotaurs were still too slow. If not for Claire and the man with the Darkborn disease hiding in the rubble behind her, she would have already dodged.

They’re troublesome.
Although Fia believed that their so-called flame immunity was just due to a lack of high enough temperature—after all, even silicon-based life forms living in lava couldn’t withstand the temperature of the sun, let alone these monsters that weren’t even living in molten rock—a Firestorm-level [Fairy Fire] would likely blow them to pieces. Fia had to take a moment to think of a different strategy.
During this brief moment, the two minotaurs were already closing in on Fia. The strong wind from their charge made Fia’s black hair flutter behind her.
No other choice. I have to use that move.
[Wind Blade].
She had learned this spell yesterday while studying magic with Anastasia.
Quickly calculating the minotaurs’ trajectories, Fia began to set the parameters for the wind blades.
Speed set to maximum. Length to ten meters. The angle is just right to sever the minotaurs’ front legs.
Having set everything, Fia focused her magic and instantly fired.
“[Wind Blade].”
In a flash, two massive cyan blades of light appeared above Fia’s head and shot out diagonally downward, exactly as she willed.

If all went as planned, the two monsters would fall right at her feet.
Just as Fia had expected, the wind blades easily sliced into the front legs of the minotaurs. However, only one of the monsters had its front legs severed; the other reacted incredibly fast. Just before the wind blade could touch its front legs, it kicked off the ground and leaped into the air, narrowly dodging the attack. It then landed on all fours, lowered its head, and charged with its horns at an even faster speed. Anything that its horns touched instantly turned to dust.
At this distance, even if I use Wind Blade to slice the minotaur in half, the momentum would still send the horns flying towards me.
In that case…
Fia slightly shifted her body, avoiding the path of the horns, and then she did something astonishing.
She extended her slender, pale arm and, at the last possible second, grabbed onto the charging horn.
Following this, a visually impactful and unbelievable scene unfolded before everyone.
Upon contact with the minotaur, Fia was not thrown back as everyone had expected. Instead, her feet were dragged back a short distance, but the minotaur’s charge was completely stopped by her. Even as the minotaur continued to struggle, the situation did not change. However, Fia was not satisfied. She began to pour strength into her entire body. At that moment, the minotaur seemed as light as a piece of paper, and Fia, who was countless times smaller, lifted it little by little until all four of its limbs were completely off the ground.
Next, I should perform a shoulder throw and toss the minotaur away.
Unfortunately, things did not go as smoothly as Fia had imagined. Just as she increased the strength in her arm, a tremor ran through it. Then, with a loud “crack,” the horn in her hand broke, and the minotaur crashed back to the ground.
In an instant, the slum fell silent.
