Volume 1, Chapter 59 – Reinforcement
In just a few exchanges, the blue team found themselves forced into a passive, defensive position.
While protagonists in stories often act recklessly when they first leave the beginner’s village, they usually don’t get themselves killed. But this group was far too reckless.
Concerned that staying in one place for too long might expose her, Fia left her vantage point and leaped onto the roof of a building closer to the three blue-team members. The elf princess’s body was exceptionally light—even landing on aged, brittle roof tiles didn’t cause them to crack.
This time, I’ll mix in some [Wind Blades] too.
The paladins outnumbered their opponents, which was hardly chivalrous.
Controlling the power of her magic to ensure it inflicted damage without being lethal, Fia quickly locked onto the dozens of paladins in the square.
What puzzled her was that the average person’s limit was multitasking between three things at once—meaning, in this situation, they could only target three paladins sequentially. Yet she could simultaneously lock onto dozens of moving paladins without any strain. She could even adjust her magic, alternating between fireballs and wind blades in groups of three.
Maybe magic has enhanced my mental focus.
Fia didn’t dwell on it.

By the time she snapped back to attention, an overwhelming amount of magic had gathered around her—azure and crimson intertwined like a fireworks display.
If it were nighttime, I’d definitely stand out. But for now, I’ll just treat this as a grand gift for those paladins.
With Fia’s command, the sky was instantly filled with wind blades and fireballs. The square was engulfed in a fiery rain, the relentless explosions ringing out like a drumbeat. There were so many spells that Fia had to deliberately let some strike the ground—otherwise, even if the paladins used their defensive magic, Holy Barrier, they’d be overwhelmed in moments.
In fact, the golden shields conjured by the paladins’ Holy Barrier shattered like glass under a hammer after blocking just one or two fireballs or wind blades.
“There are more than four attackers! Call for reinforcements!”
“Ahhh! It burns! Water—get me water!”
Fia naturally wouldn’t allow anyone to escape and report. Before the fleeing paladins could take more than two steps, she intercepted them—not by jumping down, but by using Wind Blade to sever nearby wooden beams, blocking the road, then igniting them with Fireball to create a blazing barrier.
Just the first volley had thrown the paladins into chaos, stripping them of their earlier advantage over the blue team.
Realizing someone was aiding them, the blue team shouted their gratitude toward the direction of the spells—toward Fia.

“Whoever you are, on behalf of the Eternal Daylight mages, I thank you! If fate allows, I’ll personally repay this debt!”
No need for repayment. Just try to gauge the enemy’s strength before charging in next time.
Fia responded silently in her heart.
If only I knew healing magic, I could treat their injuries.
With the first volley a success, the rest was simple.
The blue-haired girl had gained a clear upper hand in her one-on-one duel against the veteran paladin, while the other three members of the Eternal Daylight mages were managing to hold their own. Despite being of similar or only slightly higher rank than the paladins, their combat prowess and mastery of magic were noticeably superior.
With Fia occasionally launching spells to disrupt the paladins’ focus, the blue team quickly gained the upper hand.
At one point, Fia even used [Cloud Moon of the Illusory Sea] to disguise herself as an ordinary person and quietly relocated the three catatonic victims to safety. Though they remained unresponsive, like lifeless dolls, it was likely due to some mind-altering drug—they’d recover once it wore off.
It’s almost over.

After launching one final volley, Fia returned to her vantage point and assessed both side’s stamina. Five minutes had passed since the battle began, and both sides were nearly exhausted—especially the veteran paladin fighting the blue-haired girl. His armor was in tatters, and only the restorative effects of his faith-based magic kept him standing.
However—
That’s… a Sixth-Tier in the Church?
Just as Fia was about to declare the battle’s conclusion, a dark speck racing into view from the corner of her vision made her frown. Wind of Exploration revealed a presence between yellow and orange, approaching at alarming speed.
Anastasia, a quasi-Fifth-Tier warrior, was strong enough to serve as the captain of the Second Royal Guard Unit (the royal guard consisted of only five units total). And within the entire elf military, the Royal Guard was the elite of the elite. If Anastasia were deployed on the front lines, she’d at least hold the rank of commander or general.
Given that the elf kingdom was more powerful than the Milcandis Holy Kingdom, a Sixth-Tier individual here likely held considerable status—possibly a bishop or an inquisitor.
Definitely not someone the blue-haired girl can handle.
If he entered the battlefield, these “newbie protagonists” wouldn’t just face imprisonment—they’d be killed. After a brief moment of consideration, Fia began setting coordinates.
As expected, the arriving inquisitor showed no restraint. He first chanted an incantation, casting a gravity spell to immobilize the blue-haired girl, then raised his lance and charged at her from midair.

Now.
First, Flame Storm—then a maximized Wind Blade, twenty meters in diameter.
The former disrupted the inquisitor’s attack posture, while the latter forced him onto the defensive, buying time for the Eternal Daylight mages members to escape.
In an instant, a colossal fireball erupted around the diving inquisitor, shaking the earth and shattering every window within a hundred meters. The blast’s shockwave hurled the blue-haired girl clear out of the square, forcibly canceling the gravity spell restraining her.
A Sixth-Tier paladin shouldn’t die from Fairy Fire. But if he does… Well, that’s his bad luck. The Church is the enemy of elves anyway—losing a high-ranking zealot won’t weigh on my conscience. In fact, Anastasia might even praise me.
I should’ve fired a few more shots.
Too bad I haven’t visited the Mage Association yet—I could’ve learned stronger spells.
No time to waste. She needed to leave now—Claire was waiting nearby, and she couldn’t let this interruption ruin their… date, if it could even be called that.
Fia stuck out her tongue playfully, adjusted her appearance back to normal with [Cloud Moon of the Illusory Sea], and leaped off the roof, heading straight for where Claire was waiting outside the square.
