Chapter 26.2
Chapter 26.2
“I will find out right away. Until then, I think it’s best to leave it alone.”
“Yeah. Alright.”
“Will you take a bath first?”
“Yeah.”
“Then in the meantime, I will go to the Master quickly.”
Ian quickly called out to the maids. Since I jumped into the water, all the maids had been replaced, except for one. I didn’t know if they had been deployed elsewhere or if they had been expelled altogether.
“Is my father in the castle right now?”
“Yes.”
“Alright then. Go on.”
I glanced at the calendar on the table. From the day after Mikael and Elijah played excitedly with each other, my ban was loosened. To be exact, I was able to walk around the castle with Ian.
“Ah. I’m going to the library today.”
“I understand. If you tell me later, I will make the preparations.”
Ian politely stepped out of the room.
“Meow.”
Just before I entered the bathroom with the maids, a crying sound held me back.
The cat, who had been hanging on the windowsill as if it were its own room, had come up to my feet at some point and was staring up at me. The red and blue eyes created an exquisite harmony.
“What do you want me to do?”
I said to myself in disbelief. I liked both cats and dogs, but I didn’t want to love it because I had the suspicion that Elijah had attached it to me to keep an eye on me.
The black, sleek cat followed me to the bathroom with an air of being apathetic towards everything. It went up on the cleanly prepared towel, going in circles and laying down, and stayed there the whole time even as it dozed off.
A conviction started weighing on my suspicions.
And as soon as I was done with the bath and came out, Ian told me about this ridiculous situation.
The cat had indeed been brought by Elijah.
It was baffling and ridiculous, but there was no helping it. It would be a different story if I could die, even if it was painful, and get out of here, but the authority for access was absolutely Celina’s. So, to be a little more comfortable, following Elijah’s will was the right thing to do.
“From now on, her name is Cola.”
I said so while eating.
“C-Cola?”
Ian asked bewildered.
“Yeah. Cola.”
“Meow.”
When I finished answering, the cat let out a small meow. I guess she liked the name.
“See, she already answered that it’s her name. I know that, too.”
Well, if he came here to spy on me, that’s the least I should do. I finished my breakfast and headed to the library. Of course, the cat named Cola followed along.
The huge door opened quietly as I approached. The place where Mikael and Elijah fought was now perfectly restored.
The magnificent library, which seemed to echo even the sound of breathing, consisted entirely of the colors white, gold, and sky blue.
Of course, the owner’s tastes were perfectly reflected, so there were excessive ornaments everywhere. But now there was no one but me, Ian, and the cat.
I examined the book number and classification table on the boards held by the angel statues on both sides of the door. I had come here because I wondered if there was anything that could help me survive in the future.
[Do you really have to look for something? You have me.]
Celina was talking.
‘But it’s better to be sure.’
I pointed my finger at the history book that was written in the range of numbers between 900 and 999 in the table.
[All of that is inside my head. If someone asks, I can recite everything without making a single mistake.]
‘Really? Then, what about this?’
Number 400, related to nature and magic.
[I know that in theory. I don’t understand it, I just memorize it.]
‘But I still want to see it for myself.’
I checked the book number of the magic book and headed that way. The library was so broad that I had to walk longer than I thought. The floor was definitely a hard, smooth stone, but curiously, there was barely any noise coming from our footsteps.
I grabbed a random book from the front bookshelf of the 400th bookcase and sat down at a nearby desk. I didn’t know it even if I saw it, but I was a little curious as to how the roughly set-up ‘magic’ would be written.
「It all starts with a feeling.」
What the hell was I supposed to feel? I propped up my chin and flipped over the pages, uninterested. Even the illustrations were so complicated that I could not understand the situations depicted. Words such as substitution, inversion, and exchange were often seen.
The paper was white, and the paintings and writing were black. I was reading something meaningless when someone tapped my shoulder unpleasantly. I raised my head.
Elizabeth was glancing down at me with fierce eyes, her arms crossed arrogantly. A sapphire was tightly embedded in the headband on top of her shiny blonde hair. Her fluttering white dress was just like a daisy petal.
Oh. As expected, she’s the embodiment of a queen bee.
“You. Have you thought about meeting a man who exercises?”
“What? What are you talking about all of a sudden?”
Elizabeth frowned. I shrugged.
“It’s nothing. Spill it. Why did you come here?”
“Talk to me for a second.”
Suddenly, she squeezed my arm tightly.
