Chapter 30.1
Chapter 30.1
I think I may have made a mistake.
But it was just for a moment, as Mikael’s shoulders trembled, and he started laughing. At the same time, all my tension was released. No matter the situation, it was a pleasant laugh.
“Hey. Mikael?”
“Yes, what is it?”
He replied cheerfully.
“Is there any magic for erasing memories?”
“There is.”
The blood on his smiling lips was slightly dry. He was wounded because we bumped into each other earlier. I tried not to think about the strange atmosphere that there was between us.
I had no idea that the way I set up Mikael would have such an impact on me. That’s why I couldn’t easily refuse when he asked to hold my hand for the first time.
It wasn’t just because I cared about the main character.
“Then, have you never thought of testing your skills and trying in on yourself?”
“Unfortunately, I don’t want to forget a little bit of what I just saw. Please forgive me.”
“You’re cheap.”
But there was no place to hide here.
‘Hey, Celina. It seems I have completely ruined your dignified image. You brought this on yourself. Why did you act as you pleased?’
I spoke to her urgently.
[It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.]
“Everyone says that. There’s no one in the world who completely reveals their true selves. They live while hiding everything properly.”
Surprisingly, Celina and Mikael came up with similar answers at the same time.
“So don’t worry about it. It’s nothing important. Above all, for me, it really doesn’t matter what appearance you show. As I said before, you just have to stay there.”
“Thank you for saying that, but…”
I blurred my words. He was really quick to accept reality. Even if it didn’t matter, honestly, what I did was too disgraceful.
“I’m rather happy. I’ve seen a little bit of your true self.”
He continued his kind words.
“Actually, I kept hesitating, but I have a personal favor to ask of you. It’s really no big deal. Is it okay if I tell you?”
Mikael extended his hand towards somewhere in the woods. Then, he clenched his fist once. I stared at him, wondering what he was doing all of a sudden, but his hand switched places as if it had never happened. He gathered his hands politely.
“Yeah. I’ll do it if I can. What is it?”
“Is it okay to ask for a dance at the Princess’ birthday ceremony?”
As soon as I heard that, I quickly stiffened. Dance. That one word struck my brain.
Celina’s unsightly appearance right now was not a problem. The coming-of-age ceremony was held 20 days before one’s birthday. Of course, on the day of one’s birthday, a big party was held.
I forgot that a legendary ball that kept the ladies of this possessed romantic fantasy awake because they were worried about dancing was held around this time.

「As you said, I will definitely become a person who will be able to do great things in the future. Then, I look forward to your cooperation, Miss Dell.」
I folded the old piece of paper that a young Mikael had written. On the back, a ‘1’ was written in a corner. It was Celina’s handwriting.
I closed the box where I put the letter and pushed a snack towards Zeno’s crow, which was sitting on the table.
I was reading the letters carefully as if I was deciphering a code, wondering if I could get some information out of them, when it suddenly flew inside.
I couldn’t believe how confident it looked. Of course, the reading was cut short. I couldn’t read them all.
They didn’t contain anything that should not be seen, but still, since it was an intimate conversation between the two of us, I wanted to hide it as much as possible. Along with the main character’s deep-rooted self-loathing.
I wasn’t sure if I was right because I hadn’t read the whole thing, but the letters revealed some of Mikael’s changes, which had a rather unusual aspect.
Mikael was a very depressed child until he met Elijah. He became confident only after knowing his own abilities.
But at some point, I could see that he was broken. Should I say that he was overly humble? Some time later, I began to see his current politeness in the letters.
It wasn’t too far from his figure, but it was also unclear.
“Hey, you shameless bastard. Is it good? At that time, you were just sitting on the perch even though everyone was dying. It was nice sightseeing, wasn’t it?
I spat out bluntly while I fiddled with the box. The crow stared at me for a few seconds with its marbled eyes, and then went back to eating the snack eagerly. It was truly shameless.
“Wow. You really resemble your master, from head to toe. Even the darkness is the same.”
