Chapter 33.2
Chapter 33.2
I spewed out coldly.
“If my thank you sounded like you could walk all over me, that’s really a pity.”
“…”
Silence swept over the place. A few seconds later, the man’s Adam’s Apple moved once more.
“I have made a mistake. I deserve to die.”
He bowed his head.
“I’m really sorry.”
“So. Where is the bathroom?”
I stood up and changed the topic. I was not in the mood to hear an apology. I didn’t mean to hear it from the beginning. Even if I had heard it, it wouldn’t have been sincere.
Jack raised his head and blinked a few times with a ridiculous look on his face, then pointed at a door with a respectful gesture. Mikael followed me straight away. I told him several times to stay in his seat, but he said he had to stay close to me.
I shook my head at his stubbornness and opened the door of the women’s bathroom. My body was sucked into the cold darkness, along with a feeling of my arms being grasped.
Ah, seriously! What the hell is this?!
The name of the man I was with just now was about to come out of my mouth like an unbearable cough.
“Aren’t you two too close?”
But my embarrassment was brief, and when a familiar voice rang in my ears, my heart quickly stabilized.
“By the way. You. You’re doing better than I thought? That’s a relief.”
There was only one person I knew with such a profound and mysterious voice.
“… Zeno?”
When that name left my mouth unintentionally instead of ‘Mikael’, he was greatly taken aback.
“How do you know my name?”
Shit. That’s right. Celina shouldn’t know his name.
“Name or whatever, what are you doing here? Are you a pervert?”
I responded nervously because I had made a mistake. Both with the green-haired woman earlier, and with the man who was now staring at me. I didn’t know what kind of development this was. Why weren’t things going smoothly?
“A pervert? Who?”
Zeno asked back, as if he had heard something unthinkable.
“You. This is the women’s bathroom.”
“No, it isn’t.”
He was quick to anger. It was unusually dark everywhere, so I couldn’t see anything. I fumbled around in the air and put my hand where his shoulders were supposed to be.
“What are you doing?”
He grabbed my wrist and asked sharply.
“Ah. Just hold still for a second. What else could I do to you?”
I shook him off and moved my hand inwardly, squeezing tightly where I guessed was his collar.
“You’re a pervert. You pervert. Why are you so confident when you almost killed someone last time?”
I nagged while shaking him violently.
“I said I’m not a pervert.”
His answer also flowed back and forth, confirming that the place I grabbed was indeed his collar.
“Yeah, right.”
“I’m really not. Open your eyes properly.”
Zeno’s voice grew distant, sounding like a mixture of sighs, and several candles were lit at once. With just one look at one shelf, I could see what kind of place this was. A grocery store.
“Does this look like a women’s bathroom?”
He was wearing very ordinary clothes. A white shirt and brown pants. And cheap-looking suspenders. Clothes that would allow him to quickly blend in with the crowd no matter where he went.
Except, of course for that unrealistic face that glowed even with one eye covered.
“Oh. That’s right. When did I come here?”
“I’ve never been there in the first place. I just pulled you here. While waiting for you to be left alone.”
Zeno grabbed a wooden pocket watch from his pocket and checked the time. His gaze was extremely calm.
“So anyway. What do you want with me?”
I crossed my arms and asked in a snarky manner. An excellent plan came to mind.
Hold this man back as much as possible.
Mikael and Zeno should have met before, but the flow was twisted because Celina was the one kidnapped, not Ingrit.
So, let’s make them meet here.
Though I had no idea how long it would take for Mikael to come. He was someone with great abilities, so I just trusted that he would find me soon.
I felt sorry that he was sure to feel guilty about this situation happening again, but there was no way Mikael could detect Zeno when not even Elijah could. This was truly an unavoidable situation.
“Coincidentally, the days overlapped. The day you came and the day I came.”
“Then, did you follow me?”
“Yeah. Why did you show the calendar to my child?”
He grabbed the watch lightly without putting it back in his pocket.
“‘My child’? Ah. You’re talking about the crow. I said I would show it the calendar and it came running. You were a pervert after all.”
“I’m not a pervert…”
Zeno frowned openly. As expected. A handsome man is always handsome even with his face crumpled.
“So. Pervert. What’s the purpose of your approach? To kill me?”
“I told you I wouldn’t kill you. I have something to tell you today.”
“Something to tell me?”
“I want to sincerely apologize for what happened that day. I didn’t mean for you to get hurt. I’m sorry.”
His tone itself was warm, but it was a meaningless apology, like the dead leaves rolling in the streets of late autumn.
