Chapter 128: Time Was Running Out

Chapter 128: Time Was Running Out

The life imaging device Zheng Yichen made was based on the vision of Necromantic Creatures. Making the lenses took him some effort. He specifically looked for places rich in Negative Energy to dig up wandering corpses or hidden ghouls and the like. While putting them to rest, he also kept their eyes.

Through some forbidden Alchemy, he extracted the necromantic properties from the eyes of these Necromantic Creatures. After further synthesis, he produced the lenses for the Goggles. To make its effect the best, he also sealed several Wraiths inside, using Mana to maintain their strength.

These Goggles could completely be called an evil tool made for tracking life traces… Well, considering the materials used, calling it an evil tool was not wrong at all. In short, if this thing was put on the Black Market, besides being welcomed by evil Mages, Professionals like assassins would probably also fancy it very much. Yet it was only for Zheng Yichen’s head!

The only flaw was probably that after putting them on, the field of view was covered with a faint layer of gray. Even though Zheng Yichen had done a matte treatment on the lenses, the color was not gray. This gray layer could not be removed. Once removed, the life imaging effect would be lost. Within this gray layer, any existence with sufficiently strong life fluctuations would appear as a highlighted light red.

This situation… was normal. Zheng Yichen had checked related information. In the eyes of Necromantic Creatures, the world was gray. Beings with life characteristics appeared as glaring red in their eyes. This made Zheng Ychen couldn’t help but think, did Necromantic Creatures also have the characteristic of bulls, getting excited when they saw red.

In short, to solve this color problem, Zheng Yichen could only target some high-level Necromantic Creatures. The field of view color of high-level Necromantic Creatures was normal, and they also had the ability to see the life fluctuations of living creatures. As for the Goggles’ color, it wasn’t pure gray after all, but a faint gray like a thin veil. It was also normal that the life imaging appeared as light red.

The Magic that could confuse Zheng Yichen’s sniping directly failed under the effect of this life imaging device. They thought their figures were hidden, but their life fluctuations were clearly seen by Zheng Yichen under the device’s effect. Those highlighted light red Human Forms were practically attracting him…

Elsewhere, those Alchemical Puppets that Zheng Yichen had given orders to were also faithfully carrying out the commands. Apart from the portion recalled by Zheng Yichen, another portion was scattered in various places, waiting for opportunities to snipe those Spellcasters maintaining the Light Screen. The initial effect was good, but after the Sanctuary Church was prepared, the success rate of sniping dropped sharply. The bullets pierced Magic Shields smoothly, but seemed somewhat insufficient against sufficiently hard shields.

Moreover, those shields had multiple layers. The material strength of the Otherworld far exceeded that of Earth. Sniper bullets that could penetrate thick steel plates seemed somewhat inadequate against some shields in this world that were not very thick but had a high enough grade. The materials Zheng Yichen prepared for these sniper bullets were also not particularly great. Of course… if knowledge was sufficient, conditions were sufficient, and materials were sufficient, he would have liked to make something as brutal as depleted uranium bullets!

Unfortunately! There were none!

This world had many radioactive substances similar to radiation, but those were not things Zheng Yichen could obtain now. Apart from radioactive substances, there were also many other methods that produced radiation-like effects. For example, the Witch’s Power. When Loris shed the layer of ‘lead skin’ she wore, she herself became a huge radiation source. Any being that came within a certain range of her would turn to dust.

Or when the intensity of Magic reached a certain degree, even exceeding the limit, it would also produce radioactive residue, causing the environment of the area hit by that Magic to change drastically. Ordinary people walking into this area would have their lives taken by the ‘Magical Radiation’ contained within. Even if they didn’t die, after leaving, they would suffer from the residual Magical Radiation in their bodies, similar to being exposed to radiation.

This portion of Alchemical Puppets was being quickly wiped out. Some, after being surrounded, directly triggered other instructions given by Zheng Ychen. In such an environment, they would self-destruct immediately, leaving nothing behind.

And the portion that was not wiped out triggered another instruction. Like the last batch of Alchemical Puppets, they took advantage of the chaos to enter the Campsite and lie low!

The cores of these Alchemical Puppets were based on the Soul Crystals Zheng Yichen used, which were of good quality. Although carrying out these instructions was not as flexible as a real person, it exceeded low-level Alchemical Puppets, moving beyond rigidity. As long as their identity was not seen through, hiding their identity was possible. Zheng Ychen put in a lot of effort when making them, adding some things that were completely superfluous for Alchemical Puppets!

Simulated respiratory System, simulated heartbeat System, simulated blood circulation, simulated body temperature, and so on.

“Time is running out…” Zheng Yichen, who was entangled with the group of big shots chasing him, saw that the Black Mist that had been spreading all along actually started to shrink. The White Moon in the sky still hung high. Zheng Yichen estimated the speed at which the Black Mist dissipated. Before dawn, this Black Mist would be completely Purified by the White Moonlight. And although the rising speed of that Light Screen had slowed down, its size was still expanding. “I will tear apart this false… cough, shining sky!”

Couldn’t drag it out any longer. Zheng Yichen completely gave up the idea of tangling with those big shots. He directly maximized the effect of the booster device on his wings. Zheng Yichen’s speed increased accordingly. The strong air pressure made his expression somewhat contorted. Even though the Dragon Clan’s skin was hard enough and their respiratory System was strong enough, in this situation he didn’t feel much difficulty breathing, nor did his eyes refuse to open. It was just… his face felt a bit uncomfortable from the wind.

“Stop him!” At the location of the Sanctuary Church’s army, a Bishop in a robe watched as Zheng Yichen rapidly approached the Light Screen in the sky and spoke loudly. This Witch Hunt must not fail. Three Archbishops had come alone. The status of an Archbishop was different from that of a Bishop. Each Archbishop was in charge of a very large area’s Sanctuary Church branch.

Although maintaining the Light Screen was a consumption shared by those in the Campsite, the consumption on the Sanctuary Church’s side, as the leader, was greater and needed to be more concentrated. After all, they also played a ‘conversion’ role. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have let Zheng Yichen run rampant for so long. They already had sufficiently powerful people here to deal with him.

Before, Zheng Yichen was too far from the Campsite’s range, so they couldn’t act easily. Now he wanted to approach the Light Screen, which would inevitably bring him close to the Campsite. After delivering himself to their doorstep, he also entered the range where they could launch long-range attacks…
