Chapter 140: The Weakened Sorceress
Zheng Yichen pulled the Magic Weapon Summoning Book from his mouth. He shook it and set it to float. From it, he drew out the Alien Energy he had gathered earlier at the Light Screen. Zheng Yichen wasn’t sure if this energy would work, but it was all he could rely on now.
The golden energy appeared on Zheng Yichen’s claws. Taking advantage of the moment one of Loris’s hands was restrained, he charged forward. Yet, when he was less than five meters away, the Light Ribbon wrapped around her arm suddenly shattered. A small hand slowly opened toward Zheng Yichen’s head.
In that instant, an Illusion appeared before his eyes. He seemed to see Red Spider Lilies from Hell blooming in his vision. A feeling that was both deadly and dangerous washed over his entire body.
Almost without hesitation, Zheng Yichen flung the golden Alien Energy covering his claws. But the sense of crisis didn’t fade; instead, it shot straight up. Stimulated by this overwhelming danger, Zheng Yichen held nothing back. He pulled out the Magic Arms named Sword of Promised Victory from the Magic Weapon Summoning Book. When the Light Tide magic was triggered, the Wind Element Magic attached to it was temporarily nullified by the excessive Mana Fluctuation.
The true form of this invisible sword was revealed. Solid light gathered upon the blade. As Zheng Yichen swung… his movement paused for a moment. He was worried—worried that Loris, whose power was extremely weak now, wouldn’t be able to withstand this direct, modified Light Tide attack at point-blank range.
The Alien Energy he threw from his hands collided with the faint, dark red specks of light appearing in the palm of Loris’s open hand. For a moment, a piercing, grating, twisting sound echoed in Zheng Yichen’s ears. It sounded like super-alloy being violently crushed and kneaded.
However, because the Alien Energy had struck first, its effect was faster. Part of the Alien Energy passed through Loris’s open palm and made contact with her body. Her cold, merciless, machine-like eyes regained a flicker of their usual light.
“I will die… do it…”
A very faint voice reached Zheng Yichen’s ears. Hearing it, he didn’t choose to act decisively. Instead, he hesitated even more… After all, both in TV shows and anime, there were plots like this—where someone, in an uncontrollable situation, asks a person they know to kill them.
What if this was just such a scene playing out before him…
“I…” The glimmer of light in Loris’s eyes was suppressed once again. The gathering speed of the dark red light specks suddenly accelerated!
“Don’t make me regret this!!” His slightly trembling hand finally swung down. The Light Tide, released almost point-blank, pressed directly toward Loris. Initially unable to bear looking, Zheng Yichen sensed something wrong and widened his eyes in shock. In theory, the power of Light Tide was comparable to a Light Cannon in Zheng Yichen’s estimation, and this was at point-blank range. Yet it was being blocked by those dark red light specks spreading from Loris’s palm!
Even though those specks were being quickly annihilated, they still managed to block the point-blank Light Tide. And this was under the condition that she had only reclaimed a small portion of the Black Mist. If she had reclaimed it all, Zheng Yichen had no doubt she would have the strength to tear apart this modified Light Tide with her bare hands!
“What is that?” The combat personnel gathered at the Campsite stared in shock at a golden light beam that broke through the Black Mist and shot into the distance. Not only were they stunned, but those from the Sanctuary Church were also greatly alarmed. They knew more of the inside story.
That Black Mist wasn’t like Loris’s usual state where she restrained her Witch’s Power and only affected living beings. The uncontrolled Black Mist possessed power that was effective not just against the living, but also against inanimate objects, which included Mana!
But that light beam was clearly a product of Magic. Judging by the power it displayed, it didn’t seem affected by the Black Mist. This made them think immediately of that Little Dragon… At this moment, that Little Dragon was probably in conflict with the Cursed Witch…
But given his power, even if the Cursed Witch’s power was at its weakest, he should have been killed.
“We can’t wait any longer. We must act now too,” said a girl with milky-white long hair. Her words carried great weight. Several Archbishops no longer hesitated. Though not fully recovered, they were close enough. Casting spells together, they scattered specks of light across the Campsite.
This was part of the White Moonlight they had collected earlier. Unlike the Crystal Rod, this portion couldn’t store White Moonlight for long; it was only temporary storage. That was fine, as it was stored to be used as ‘spellcasting material.’ Its purpose was to grant everyone a protective buff that made them immune to the effects of a Sorceress’s abilities.
This protection was only effective against a Sorceress’s abilities. It wouldn’t work against any other kind of attack.
“Move out!” Upon receiving the signal from the Sanctuary Church side, the various Bosses no longer hesitated. They immediately ordered their subordinates into action. Of course, the vanguard remained the Sanctuary Church’s forces, leading by example. With them taking the initiative to charge, others naturally couldn’t fall behind.
This matter was of utmost importance. Any slacking would be recorded, with consequences including being held accountable afterward, not to mention missing out on any benefit distribution.
“Huff… huff… That should do it…” Zheng Yichen watched as the light specks near Loris grew fewer and fewer, as she was almost completely engulfed by the Light Tide. He couldn’t help but slow his assault a bit. The Mana consumption for Light Tide didn’t come from Zheng Yichen himself but was drawn from the Magic Weapon Summoning Book. As long as the Mana within it wasn’t exhausted, he could keep blasting away.
But the moment his attack weakened slightly, the nearly vanished light specks immediately revived!
“Dammit!!” No longer hesitating, Zheng Yichen immediately increased his Mana output. The revived light specks quickly dissipated entirely. Afterwards, the Black Mist continuously flowing into Loris’s body automatically moved to shield her front. However, because the concentration of the Black Mist was too low now, the rate it gathered was slower than the rate it was consumed by the Light Tide’s assault.
After all, Zheng Yichen’s power could ignore a Sorceress’s ability effects and also had an assimilating property. If anyone else tried this, forget about releasing Light Tide; entering the Black Mist would have ground them to dust long ago.
After a brief stalemate, the Black Mist surrounding her was completely swept away by the Light Tide, temporarily severing its connection with Loris. However, Zheng Yichen could still feel the Light Tide being resisted… Loris was now using the power within her own body to hold it back…
“Holy crap… How did they get in here?!” Just then, Zheng Yichen heard movement behind him. He turned to see a dense mass of ‘light bulbs’ charging toward his position!
It shocked Zheng Yichen so much his Scales almost stood on end. The maintained Light Tide suddenly dissipated. The powerful light column shattered and vanished, revealing Loris, who was using her own dwindling power to resist Zheng Yichen’s attack. Freed from the Light Tide’s assault, she immediately counterattacked.
But with planning against her lack of awareness, Zheng Yichen was faster. Before the Black Mist could gather again, he pulled a strand of Alien Energy from the Magic Weapon Summoning Book and threw it at her, binding her.
