Chapter 145: No Chance Given

Chapter 145: No Chance Given

“Are you referring to the Black Moon?” The young girl glanced at Zheng Yichen. “Getting rid of the Black Moon would indeed be a solution, but no one can do it.”

The Sanctuary Church had considered the Black Moon as well. However, the Black Moon could only be observed from afar; approaching it was impossible. Even extremely rare space-type Magic couldn’t penetrate the sky’s Isolation Layer. And even if it could, the Black Moon was an entire Planet. How much great power would be needed to destroy it?

“As long as there are no Sorceresses, the Black Moon will forever be covered by the radiance of the White Moon.”

Zheng Yichen snorted softly, not agreeing with her at all. “Easier said than done. Since Sorceresses are connected to the Black Moon, as long as it exists, even if you purge every Sorceress from the world, can you guarantee no new ones will appear?”

“Therefore… this requires long-term effort.” The young girl stared intensely at Zheng Yichen. “The Sanctuary Church urgently needs the help of unique individuals like you.”

“Not interested,” Zheng Yichen said bluntly.

“You should know, right now it’s not just the Sanctuary Church that’s interested in your abilities. Even those Sorceresses from chaotic factions will take notice. Once they learn of this, your situation will become much harder.”

Even though the Dragon Clan possessed immense potential, that needed time to accumulate. Over the same period, Dragons could grow stronger far faster than Humans. But when encountering exceptionally Talented Humans, such Humans could utterly surpass the Dragon Clan in an even shorter time… though the proportion was very low.

“Then you should protect me right?” Zheng Yichen scratched his ear. “Our ideals don’t align, so cooperation is impossible. I think my current life is just fine.”

“Then the next time we meet, we cannot have this kind of talk anymore.” The young girl sighed softly, utterly confirming Zheng Yichen’s peculiar nature. Not only could he ignore the power traits of Sorceresses, he could also disregard some essential rules. Even now, facing real threats, he showed absolutely no intention of betraying the Sorceresses.

“Well then, how about a bit of negotiation? Release the restraints on this body for me and let me blow it up, okay?” Zheng Yichen pointed at his own body, looking at the young girl before him.

“There are people in the Church interested in this type of Alchemical Avatar.”

“Oh, well, good luck with that then.” Zheng Yichen nodded, reached out, and tapped a specific spot on his chest. He directly dismissed the Projection controlling this Alchemical Puppet. As for the Alchemical Avatar itself, black smoke erupted from all seven orifices after Zheng Yichen’s Projection vanished. The smoke reeked of a thick, acidic odor, making the young girl shake her head helplessly.

Her Magic could control the Alchemical Puppet’s movements and the output of its Mana Source, but she couldn’t directly restrain purely physical components. Without even looking, she knew the puppet’s interior was now completely ruined. Still, her Quest was more or less done.

It was now fully confirmed that Zheng Yichen had absolutely no inclination towards betrayal. Consequently, the Sanctuary Church’s future actions wouldn’t be as gentle as they were now. Zheng Yichen’s existence was far too unique. Many had witnessed him use his abilities back then. Even though most, due to disparities in information, couldn’t grasp the hidden circumstances, that didn’t mean no factions could figure something out, especially the Dark Church!

Despite Zheng Yichen acting so ‘freely’ lately, that was entirely because the Sanctuary Church’s movements had caused most factions to retreat, at least overtly.

Shaking her head, the young girl hauled the nearly useless Alchemical Puppet back toward headquarters. On the way, she encountered Dan Marina, who was leaving.

“Oh~ the most outstanding spinster of the Sanctuary Church? Hello there~” Dan Marina looked at the girl with milky-white long hair, her gaze then falling on the partially melted Alchemical Puppet clutched in her hand. “You’ve met his Avatar too? How was it?”

“That Little Dragon led astray by you Sorceresses, I will bring him back.” The young girl ignored the sarcasm in Dan Marina’s words. Spinster… it wasn’t wrong at all. Her status ensured she would never have any partner, not now, nor ever.

“Hah? His Talent truly is astonishing. The Sanctuary Church, famously cold and ruthless in dealing with Witch matters, actually wants to win over that Little Dragon.”

So indeed, besides being able to ignore the Sorceresses’ power traits, he could also disregard nearly fate-like Curses. This Little Dragon really was a freakish existence. This deepened Dan Marina’s curiosity about Zheng Yichen’s origins. Even though she’d only ever interacted with his Alchemical Avatar and hadn’t seen his true form, apart from being an Avatar, Zheng Yichen’s daily behavior was far too… Human!

“Ah~ seriously, blown up again.” Zheng Yichen rubbed his forehead. His Alchemical Avatars kept getting destroyed. This not only hampered his efforts to expand his Magic Weapon Contracts but also hindered his intelligence-gathering efficiency.

The problem was he currently had no usable subordinates. Raise his own faction? Resting his chin on his hand, Zheng Yichen thought about it briefly before tossing the idea aside. Sure, he’d learned a lot about the Otherworld, but it was all book knowledge.

As for skills like leadership? He knew full well he simply didn’t have what it took. Any organization he created would likely implode under his management before long. Not to mention how troublesome it would be… MMP, just because I can’t send out Alchemical Puppets anymore, you think I’m out of tricks?

Zheng Yichen snorted, then shifted his gaze to a Crystal Cage beside him. His expression turned deeply troubled. The cage was made from high-strength glass created through Otherworld Alchemy. It was hollow inside, filled with Alien Energy as an insulator, preventing Loris’s power from destroying it directly.

Physically… while weakened, her strength remained formidable—easily capable of crushing a strong man—but it wasn’t outrageously exaggerated yet. Thus, this cage reinforced with Enhancement Magic could still contain her. It had been a week since the Witch Hunt incident. She still hadn’t recovered, remaining like an automaton, requiring no rest. Zheng Yichen couldn’t sleep peacefully anymore.

Every time he started to close his eyes, her cold, emotionless gaze would stab him awake. Putting her somewhere out of sight wasn’t an option either; he’d feel too uneasy about it.

As for Zheng Yichen’s current location? It was within the dangerous zone where he’d searched for that red liquid to get stronger. Besides this place, Zheng Yichen couldn’t find anywhere truly safe and undisturbed. Here, though, it should be reasonably secure. Not many understood the contents of Qin’s Notebook. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be unlucky enough to be surrounded or discovered outright.
