Chapter 161: Transfer Magic Array
Zheng Yichen’s problem? Others might not understand Zheng Yichen, but Dan Marina knew a bit. Even a Witch could not avoid the binding of the Threads of Fate, let alone the Dragon Clan, especially a Juvenile Dragon. No matter how power ful he was, as long as he existed in this world, it was impossible to escape the binding!
Thus, Zheng Yichen’s identity became somewhat delicate—a being completely detached from the Threads of Fate? Even the deceased, as long as traces of their existence in this world were not completely erased, could be traced or retraced through certain abilities to find the marks they once left.
Yet, she could not trace anything about Zheng Yichen’s past or future. The future was ever-changing; even with some Prophecy Arts, only vague traces could be captured. Moreover, Prophecy Arts were more like the power of Word Spirit.
“Hey, you better put away that look in your eyes that says you want to silence me. I promise no one else will think too much about it.” Seeing the hostility return to Loris’s gaze, Dan Marina hurriedly said, “Cursed Dragon, I get it, I get it~”
“And?”
“Isn’t that it?” Dan Marina blinked innocently. Loris continued to stare at her coldly. This woman was a master at pretending to be naive. If someone else had merely figured out that Zheng Yichen was a Cursed Dragon, she would believe it. But Dan Marina? This woman definitely knew much more!
“Uh… his identity is a bit strange… I’m not really sure either, but his connection to this world probably isn’t very strong, right?”
“Let’s go!” Hearing the woman speak the truth, Loris said coldly. Killing this woman would not only come at a great cost but was also highly difficult and would lead to a series of troubles. After weighing the options, what truly made her abandon the idea of dealing with this woman was the punishment from the Contract she had signed with Zheng Yichen.
Loris did not return to the Castle but stopped in a deserted area. Dan Marina looked around with interest. “Oh? Such exquisite preparation. How long ago was this set up?”
Loris shot her a glance and said nothing, walking straight toward what seemed like a dilapidated ruin. Places like this were common in this world, but ones abandoned to this extent were basically deserted. They held no value at all, and even clearing them would be too much trouble. What was the point of cleaning up scattered stones everywhere in such a wasteland?
Even real estate developers wouldn’t value such a broken place!
The abandoned and useless ruins underwent an additional change after Loris walked in. A Magic Array appeared on the ground. Zheng Yichen observed it for a while, flipping through his Magical Grimoire for comparison. “Oh, a Transfer Magic Array.”
Transfer-type Magic Arrays were a general term; they could simply be called Teleportation Arrays. They usually involved space or partial spatial power. Although the effects might seem similar, they branched out into many variations. Sometimes, two identical Transfer Magic Arrays could actually have vastly different effects!
The former might be a normal Transfer Magic Array, capable of Teleporting anything. The latter could be a Shadow Teleportation Array, a Spirit Teleportation Array, or simply one that only Teleported inanimate objects. Without careful identification, mistaking any Transfer Magic Array for a stroke of luck and jumping into it would be like having a death wish!
“And there’s more.” Dan Marina smiled and glanced at Zheng Yichen. Bona Kaine’s Magic Book recorded a wide range of Magic, but it was merely a record. Many details couldn’t be discerned from it. For instance, although this Transfer Magic Array was of the normal type and could Teleport anything, that didn’t mean it had no Teleportation conditions!
After Loris’s modifications, its Teleportation condition was having a sufficiently robust constitution or enough self-protection ability. This condition was no issue for Witches; any Witch could withstand the pressure of this Transfer Magic Array. For ordinary people, even if they happened to activate this Magic Array, the pressure generated at the moment of Teleporting would be enough to kill them!
“I haven’t studied this, so how would I know?” Zheng Yichen rolled his eyes and decisively put away his Magical Grimoire. Apart from studying Alchemy and Engineering, his research into Magic focused on Enhancement and Attachment types. After all, creating Magic Arms required these two types of Magic to add effects. As for other elemental types of Magic…
Zheng Yichen glanced at his Mind Sea. Aside from the basic elemental Magic of different attributes, the extra Healing Spell and Projection Spell counted as two.
As for Magic, his own fists were enough. And if he really needed to cast spells, didn’t the Magic attached to those Magic Arms suffice? Anyway, Zheng Yichen now felt that basic Magic was nearly sufficient. As long as he could gather enough Elemental Power, the punch he used against the Red Dragon back then was just a low-level Magic. However, he had forcibly compressed and altered that Magic, turning it into a highly dense ball of Thunder Element. At that point, the original Magical Structure of that spell had long been destroyed!
It was only because the compression was so intense that it didn’t dissipate but instead produced an even more powerful explosion. With such formidable power, who needed fancy Magic? Just use Magic as a catalyst to gather Elemental Power.
“You’re really planning to develop in Secondary Professions?” Zheng Yichen’s answer made Dan Marina ask in surprise.
“Tsk, I’m a pacifist. Fighting and killing—I wouldn’t do it unless forced… After handling some matters recently, I plan to study Potionology.” Secondary Professions were more or less interconnected. Potionology also helped with Alchemy, though not as closely related as with Engineering. Normal Alchemy didn’t require much Potionology, but some forbidden Alchemy often needed Potionology’s assistance.
“That’s a bit of a shame. How about trying to learn Prophecy Art?”
“He can’t learn it.” Loris, walking ahead, said without turning around.
“It’s worth a try… Ah? Never mind, never mind.” Before Loris could speak, Dan Marina seemed to realize something herself and gently waved her hand, dropping the subject. A being outside the Threads of Fate learning Prophecy Art—whether he could succeed or not aside—if he did, it meant Zheng Yichen might recklessly use Prophecy Art to influence the Threads of Fate. It could also lead to another consequence: he might be drawn into the Threads of Fate because of learning Prophecy Art.
He could resist the influence of the Power of Fate, but actively immersing himself in it was a different story. “Hehe, I hope you can continue to surprise people.”
Developing Secondary Professions wasn’t a bad idea. Throughout history, many had achieved far greater accomplishments through Secondary Professions than Spellcasters or Warriors. Zheng Yichen’s choice wasn’t unreasonable. Moreover, he was a member of the Dragon Clan, with innate physical advantages, so his chances of finding a path were even greater. For example… the Propulsion Device he previously attached to his wings was still a product of “Yichen style,” but its effect was far beyond what those Firearm “toys” could offer. That was the success of developing a Secondary Profession.
