Chapter 162: Secluded Refuge
The Transfer Magic Array activated by Loris quickly took effect. The moment it started, Zheng Yichen, who was inside it, felt a heavy pressure. This pressure made him feel quite uncomfortable and stifled. Fortunately, the teleportation process was very fast. The moment the teleportation ended, the pressure on Zheng Yichen vanished completely. He looked around and saw there were actually many leftover skeletons scattered about!
Most of these skeletons were shattered, as if crushed by something!
“Oh? The Transfer Magic Array you set up isn’t very safe either; so many people have triggered it,” Dan Marina said with a giggle.
Loris gave her a cold glance and didn’t bother with the woman. The best way to deal with her was to ignore her and leave her hanging. As for what she said, just treat it as empty words. With her abilities, she couldn’t possibly fail to see how long this Transfer Magic Array had existed!
These skeletons had been here for at least a hundred years at the shortest. The reason they could remain was only because their owners had considerable strength when alive, with bone strength far surpassing ordinary people, allowing them to last this long. As for the older ones, even if their owners were very powerful when alive, after so long, those skeletons had decayed to the extreme, turning into bone dust with just a slight shake.
Moreover, the number of skeletons here wasn’t large—no more than twenty. Judging from their scattered distribution, they belonged to three small teams from different periods. Loris waved her hand, and all the skeletons weathered away and disappeared on the spot. “Follow closely. Don’t wander off.”
“Mm-hmm!” Dan Marina nodded immediately.
“I wasn’t talking to you!” Loris said, then walked forward. Zheng Yichen, following behind, scratched his head. Traps? There didn’t seem to be anything around. He pulled out something from his pocket that looked like a dragon ball radar and pressed the button on top.
Green ripples spread out on the screen, and as these ripples fluctuated continuously, after about five seconds, some faint, almost imperceptible pale red traces appeared on the radar. They were so faint they were nearly hidden by the light red ripples.
“Ooh! This is amazing!” Dan Marina perked up with curiosity, leaning over Zheng Yichen’s arm to look at the large radar in his hand. Setting aside the unclear traces on it, the surroundings were indeed full of difficult-to-detect Magic Traps. Things crafted by a Witch required others to make an additional detection penalty of at least -5 to detect them…
Even though these Magic Traps had existed for a long time and their concealment had weakened due to the passage of time, discovering them was still very difficult. Now, Zheng Yichen had actually used some unknown gadget to capture traces of some Magic Traps around them. As an Alchemical Product, this thing was already impressive!
“It’s not very useful,” Zheng Yichen said, curling his lip. Based solely on these faint captured traces, there was no way to determine the exact locations of the Magic Traps nearby. Wandering around would still lead to trouble. He simply put away the radar, which was originally intended for use in the Witch Hunt but hadn’t had a chance to be used due to various reasons.
Better to just follow the owner of this place honestly.
They safely bypassed this minefield and arrived at a scenic but remote Valley. Zheng Yichen thought he might see a Castle or something, but instead, he saw an old, small house. Compared to the Castle maintained by the Ghost Maids, this little house seemed very neglected. Even though Magic was cast on it to prevent much dust from accumulating, the old, worn-out feeling from the long passage of time was still impossible to hide.
“What a shabby house.”
Zheng Yichen couldn’t help but glance at the woman who spoke. Loris was clearly lost in brief memories. Couldn’t you just shut up at a time like this? Opening your mouth only ruined the mood!
“My old Secluded Refuge.” Loris glanced back at Dan Marina, then walked inside first. Seeing both of them go in, Zheng Yichen stood outside somewhat awkwardly. The small house was much, much smaller than the Castle. Even sticking one claw through the door might tear the doorframe apart, let alone going inside.
After thinking for a moment, he directly created a Projection and flew it into the small house. The interior furnishings had nothing to do with luxury either. There was only a simple set of furniture, a bed, and not even an inner room or kitchen—just a very ordinary single-room house, extremely plain.
“I really wonder how you could stand living like this before,” Dan Marina said sincerely. Since this was a Secluded Refuge, Loris had obviously lived here for quite a long time. In such a plain, isolated place, Dan Marina felt she wouldn’t last more than half a year!
“Why not?” Loris gently patted the bed. Thanks to Magic, the bedding was well-preserved and hadn’t been destroyed by time.
“Hmm~ I say, this wouldn’t happen to be a place you hid in not long after becoming a Witch, to escape, would it?” As soon as Dan Marina finished speaking, several dark red light points the size of a thumb appeared out of thin air in front of her. These light points exploded simultaneously, and the concentrated blast of mist focused entirely on her, cleanly blasting her out of the small house and nearly hitting Zheng Yichen’s Projection that had flown in.
“You really have a death wish.” Outside the small house, Zheng Yichen’s main body grinned, looking at Dan Marina sitting on the ground with disheveled hair. It’s said you shouldn’t hit someone where they’re vulnerable; her words earlier were no different from grabbing a tiger by the tail.
“Can’t help it. I was too happy and couldn’t control my mouth.” Dan Marina smoothed her messy hair. The attack just now had only flung her out and hadn’t caused much harm. “I won’t disturb you two anymore. I’m going to take a bath~”
On the way here, they had indeed passed a small waterfall. But Dan Marina’s tone seemed to imply something. Zheng Yichen gave her a rather scornful look. “Are you trying to seduce a dragon? Can you handle it?”
As a healthy adult male Soul, even a Dragon Clan body could indeed have physiological reactions under such a Soul. However, perhaps because this body was only at the Juvenile Dragon stage, still far from being an Adult Dragon, the intensity of physiological reactions wasn’t as strong as the rumors about Dragons being promiscuous and creating many Lesser Dragon species…
Anyway, the reaction in this regard wasn’t as strong as in the Dreamscape!
“Physically it might not work, but we could connect spiritually,” Dan Marina said smoothly. Zheng Yichen immediately choked. Seeing his reaction, she smiled smugly, reached out, and patted Zheng Yichen’s calf. “Little Dragon, feeling a little excited?”
“…” Zheng Yichen moved aside with distaste and stopped paying attention to this overly excited woman, shifting his focus to the Projection inside the house. Seeing Loris lost in thought, he opened his mouth to try to say some comforting words, but Loris cut him off first.
“We’ll stay here for a while. I need some time to recover.”
